Yeah I forgot to mention that they mix to an extent.
Libra asc I think plays a role in keeping it balanced. (Can't get too lost with one foot on the ground at least)

12th house cap venus.

To me, love is devotion. To love is to be there, walk with them, witness their trials and struggles, fight with them, offer protection and a helping hand when they're down.

Hah in some ways, falling in love is a bit like living in a new place. At first I marvel at its sparkly perfection - how can a place like this exist. After a while, as I explore and discover, I love it for its quirks, its nooks and crannies. Creaky floors and all.

Romance to me is everything that assaults the senses and brings me to a high. It inspires.

I entertain the thought of a love that lasts. I think it'd be quite grand to exist with my loved one and eventually forget about everything but each other. Time may cease to exist, the universe may reduce to nothingness. But still we'd be there, two slivers of shadow whispering to each other. This defies every sort of sense that I know, and idk how it can happen. But heh one can dream, in dreams no rule apply and fantastical things happen.

"everything that assaults the senses" Love that.

I will tweak it as you inspired me:

Anything that assaults the senses and brings me to my knees to a state of complete surrender and simultaneously makes me feel like I am flying.

This part reminded me of my husband and how he loves me I feel, he has Saturn conjunct Juno in the 5th which conjuncts my SUN, I read it and thought of him automatically: "To me, love is devotion. To love is to be there, walk with them, witness their trials and struggles, fight with them, offer protection and a helping hand when they're down."

Beautiful analogy, so poetic: "Hah in some ways, falling in love is a bit like living in a new place. At first I marvel at its sparkly perfection - how can a place like this exist. After a while, as I explore and discover, I love it for its quirks, its nooks and crannies. Creaky floors and all."

Man my moon in Pisces opposite mercury is loving the analogies/metaphors.

It's interesting how one can tell from each person's description of love, where it is most probable that their Venus/Moon is placed.

The house position definitely factors in

I'll think about what I want to say and respond later.

I heart this. Very beautiful. Ah, flying - a sense of fantasy and super-human ability.

I like that you liken feelings of love and romance to flying... Something that is out of this world, free of the mundane life, and free from the earthly shackles.

It reminds me of what Faramir said to Eowyn in "The return of the King":

You wished... to be lifted far above the mean things that crawl on the earth.

I do too, they always sound so lovely. Having 12th house sag mercury, I have a taste for analogies/metaphors, riddles and flowery declarations of love.

Laughing through it, is love.

Guess mine!!!!

For me there is just one true love. I actually dont have a clear description like most of the people here... Its a consuming feeling. I go crazy. Feeling like you would do anything for the other person. Finding someone you would die for. If they ask you to bleed, you will. Kissing the best. Its the feeling like you wish you could just crawl inside their body and sleep there forever. I believe that true love isnt a measure of how you live day to day life with eachother its like a cosmic force that binds two souls together. To me, if love doesnt transcend death it isnt true love at all...

As for the romantic things that I really resonate with... its usually kind of sad stories. Sometimes I would much rather just immerse myself in stories than like... do normal every day love. I guess sometimes I am a love snob. Sometimes I feel love sick, even while in a relationship. I compensate with books, movies and pets lol.

Death is a Scorpio thing, I use to feel that way for my ex like I would die for him, take a bullet for him and I have Venus in Leo in the 8th and moon in pisces in the 3rd. However I have worked on myself to love less intensely and pushed myself to love more universally.

I can relate to that feeling of wanting to crawl inside their body and sleep there forever too.

To me, loving someone is being incapable of not loving them.

I spent most of my life thinking I knew what love was. I had it down pat. I was married, things were humming along, and I knew in my 'head' what love was (Gemini Venus).

My husband and I had a great marriage, and we still do, but our relationship has always been this oddly platonic 'friends who have really hot sex' sort of relationship. It's a lot like we are friends-with-benefits who happen to be married, if that makes any sense. Our feelings for each other are very Mercury based. We care about each other deeply, and I know we always will, but I've always known there was some ingredient missing that I couldn't put my finger on exactly. I just accepted it as, "Oh, well, no relationship is perfect." Life carried on.

Then, BAM! I met my twinflame/soulmate (whatever label you want to slap on the "ONE"). Then, my 'head' wasn't involved at all. My heart and my soul were moved by a force that felt like it could create it's own universe. I was married. He was married. We have families to think about and people that we care about who's lives we aren't willing to turn upside down, but the love is there and simply won't go away. No romance can happen, no sex can happen, and all we can have is friendship, but I'm utterly and absolutely incapable of not loving him. That's how I know I love him.

What I feel for my husband feels like sweet, caring devotion. I feel like I 'owe' him this huge debt, and I can't abandon him. My Saturn (7th ruler) is on his S.Node.

What I feel for my twin feels like this:

Knowing when they think of you, miss you and want to see you even though you don't talk bc no matter how much time has passed your souls never cease to wonder about the other and cease to desire to see them again and is just one of those things that you can't rationally explain but you have to accept because its always there and never goes away like a twin that passed away but their spirit is with you everywhere you go making the love and their spirit unavoidable bc is tattooed to your own soul.

and this...

Love is that stuff the world lacks in sufficient quantity it often SEEMS, but once we find that universal love we don't notice.

I still love very intensely I just don't let my mind go anymore to 'I would die for you' I do have Venus-Mars conjunct Karma in the 8th and I think I did die for him in another life. I feel part of this life time is about transforming my intense love for him to something more universal to balance out overattachment. That is just how it seems my journey has played out in my case.

@Aunt Anomalia: Totally LOL.

Love is the kind of connection that survives ups and downs.

For me it's very romantic when two people can have any kind of conversation. When they can share even the less politically correct toughts and their weirdness.
Someone showing up by surprise where I am it's so cute. I love it.
Kindness shown in all little things that's what I find romantic.

Venus in Cancer 5th. Trine Moon/Pluto and opposite Saturn/Neptune.

lol... well when you put it like that.

My journals if read by most people would make not a lick of sense nor seem to reveal anything at all though... beyond the fact that I'm a wingnut.

Journal is totally not the right word for them. Writing, we'll just say writing. Somebody who cares enough to want to read it and understand and explore it.

Gonna not gush on here anymore though, stupid idea.

I strongly suspect a water Venus/Moon or else one/both in a water house.

I'd also reckon that if that isn't the case, I'd throw in Pluto/Neptune. Its far too intense to sound like air.

Your talk of love being "consuming" or a "force" got me thinking that perhaps Venus/Moon could be in a fire sign/house.

But that last bit. That bit about resonating with sadness and melancholia, sounds very Neptune/Pluto/Saturn.

I feel Neptune more strongly when you mentioned that you get "love sick" and "compensate" with books, movies and the like.

Here's a more personal/less analytical approach (after some thinking).

I have a very clear separating wall between the "idealized" (/unrealistic) vision of romantic love and the "practical" (and maybe slightly disillusioned) vision.

If I close my eyes and let myself drift into fantasy (especially if it's fueled by some trance-like music), the things that come up are very different from the things that come up when I'm relying only on my conscious mind.

So, from a purely "fantasy-based" view, love inspires the wish to merge with another and transcend this reality. That's the simplest way of explaining it. I guess you could say it's a gateway to meeting God/Divinity through another. Reaching a state of bliss that surpasses the physical plane of existence... and that makes you want to remain there forever.

I've experienced glimpses of such a feeling - or "state of being" - even alone, all by myself (through meditation or full presence in the now), but it's much harder to achieve than when there's another who inspires the feeling (and it feels less intense, but perhaps that's a matter of practice). I would say that in that moment, it feels like unconditional love (or acceptance), infinity; quiet, eternal bliss.

And that's the feeling I've come to associate with "love", but it's not very... "practical" (yeah, I use this word all the time) [eta. a more fitting word would be "sustainable"] because... I almost want to say, "it's not based in this world".
What I mean is that in that feeling, there are no real actions, words, or anything of the kind. It's just that, a feeling of "being", and all the other stuff that makes a relationship doesn't have its place in that state. It's simply a feeling of deep connection to All-that-is, that is triggered by the presence of another, and you want to stay in that state forever... (without having to think about the physical plane).

So yeah. That's love in its "ideal" state for me, I guess.

(The "practical" / realistic vision is something else entirely, and I could expand on that, but it's pretty mainstream / standard anyway, so probably not worth the trouble. Same for what I find romantic. All the things stated in the OP, more less, basically.)

Yep yep yep! Water moon and venus in a water house. Also venus conjunct neptune and sextile pluto. It makes a looser conjunction to saturn but I still feel it!
