Just wondering...

Life its an emotional roller coaster for about one week out of the month for me. That day were life makes absolutely no sense to me and feels meaningless that is the day before I get my period or The Day I get my period every time, often that is how I can tell I am about to get it bc of the dark mood I get in.

I have venus and mars in the 8th and my Venus quincunx my Moon which rules my 8th and is also part of a tsquare so I am thinking that is why my monthly cycle is challenging for me and affects my mood greatly. The 8th rules the reproductive organs and the moon is our monthly cycle.

So I am wondering are there are females out there who are not affected by the hormonal changes of their monthly period and who don't feel that their period DISRUPTS their life and mood for a few days at least??

In my head I think we all suffer from this misery but if I am wrong I would love to hear who you are and your placements. What is your 8th house ruler and what aspects does it make??

To me getting your period feels like life slapping you in the face and then strangling you to death followed by a new dawn were you feel normal again and start living life again and feeling hopeful only for that hope to come crashing down again when your period comes.

Hi Hypatia... I'm sorry you're having these mood swings. It's possible meditation and yoga could be helpful to you.
I find swimming very relaxing as well.
Have you tried anything along these lines?

I don't really get PMS in a traditional sense.

For a couple of days before I get my period - and sometimes very early into my period - I'm more emotional than usual.
But, it's pretty funny because my way of being emotional is kind of like a hippy on drugs... I feel like hugging everyone and telling them I love them

Rarely, I've gone the other way - and ended up being angrier than usual... but that's happened maybe like twice per year or something... It's not common for me.

It's interesting but - my experience of sadness and depression has literally no correlation with my period.
I could feel 'low' for varied reasons, when something negative happens... but it's not in any way related to my period.

My 8th house is Capricorn - and the ruler is Saturn is in Sagittarius in the 6th - trine my Sun, and square my Jupiter.

I found the flax oil helped, blended into smoothies. I can't keep anything down now, most days, but I think it still helps when I can.

I get PMS too, and feel like crap when it actually starts.

Maybe there's something to the Moon/8th house theory, there.

I have terribly disruptive, emotional PMS every month. Like it honestly does disrupt my life.

My Moon is in my 2nd house, opposite my Sun in 8th.

My 8th house cusp is in leo. Sun in the 12th, conj mercury and uranus. Widely conj neptune.

My moon is in the 3rd house. It's afflicted.

I don't really experience PMS. There was a short period of time when I had backache during my monthly. But that didn't last long.

I only sometimes get cranky because I dislike having periods, even though it doesn't disrupt my life. Having to remember to take precautions like bringing extra pads/tampons, not wearing white pants...etc... is just plain annoying. Sometimes I'm like "Why am I plagued with this?"

I really feel for those whose PMS drive them up the wall.

Interesting, so your 8th house ruler is not afflicted and you don't get PMS but just a little annoyed or cranky which could be do to the mood affliction I suppose, lucky .

Since it conjuncts Uranus though would you say your cycle is irregular?

I honestly don't think this has any correlation to astrology.

I say this because I NEVER had PMS symptoms at all...until I was 26 and had my first miscarriage. I also never had period cramps until then. Ever since then, I have experienced pretty bad cramps on the 2nd day of my cycle..argh! And my moody PMS symptoms are getting worse this year. I see (and everyone else does, too..) a big difference in my attitude a week before I start.

So...I don't think my chart can show all of that. The change and everything. When I had that first miscarriage, I had a D&C/D&E done..I don't know if it was the procedure or the hormonal changes but something caused a big change in me after that.

That is adorable! Moon in caps are so adorable. You guys are sweet and sensitive but you are also very strong and resilient born with good coping skills that are innate IMO but far from robots just grounded and strong and very competitive and driven as well. One of my clients who is 10 is a Scorpio Sun with moon in Capricorn, his brother is a Sun in Scorpio with moon in Pisces and is interesting seeing their similarities and differences; both are amazing.

Perhaps yeah but perhaps is worth looking more deeply into the transits and progressions that happened to you around that time.

My 8th house cusp falls in Libra...ruler Venus is in Virgo and my 7th house. Venus is afflicted in my chart...it squares my Moon and Mars. Venus also conjuncts my Mercury in Virgo.

I wish I didn't get PMS, but I guess I'm just not that fortunate. I have an ovarian problem that makes it worse sometimes, if you can imagine PMS and periods being any worse than they already are.

Men really annoy me around that time of the month. Especially if they're overly abrasive - my 4th house Moon and Mars are just too freaking sensitive for that. That's about the only thing that can make me snap and get irritable.

I get overly emotional in a quiet way. I miss people I haven't seen or spoken to in a long time. I just want to be around my mom and other female relatives. I get needier than usual and want to cuddle - even if it's just to cuddle with my cat or dog.

As far as the actual period part goes...I pull the blinds and if possible, avoid the world for that week. It's just awful.

Ok, after reading all these responses I am now very interested in this topic! Fascinating. It does seem like the Moon and 8th house ruler play a big role! Great observations!!

So..before my miscarriage, the only thing anyone ever said to me about my PMS was my little sister. She made a mention of me acting really goofy/quirky the week before my period. I was a teenager when she told me this. I had agreed that I acted weird but it was always amusing, never painful or negative.

8 house ruler Mercury..in 2nd house conj Uranus, Neptune, and Sun. Square Mars.

Moon conj Saturn. My periods are ALWAYS regular, predictable, the same length and flow, etc. It is square Jupiter, though...hey, maybe that is behind me having multiple miscarriages???!

I dont see much happening with my progressions and transits.

Also have 8H Chiron opposing my Moon. Hmmm...very cool topic, thanks for bringing it up. Really makes me think.

Hmm, maybe just a little bit, but no real big symptoms (a little being bloated the 2 days before, usually resulting in a weightgain of about 1 kilo; and the appetite varies a little, and sometimes feeling a tad more apathetic or restless, but I donīt think that REALLY qualifies as PMS.)

So I`d say I do feel *some* effects (or imagine them) but nothing as to really feel disruptive.

8th house in Cancer
ruler of 8th in Aquarius in 2nd house
Saturn is in Cancer in 8th, quinkunx that Moon.

I relate to a lot of what you said. What moon sign do you have and aspects/house placing, Is there any water influence on your moon? Cause I think the reason why i am affected strongly by my period comes from my cancer moon in the 12th house opposite neptune. I think its worst for watery moon influenced women. At one point i wanted to take pills to stop the periods bc it got too much for me. The week before is the worst. Old angry feelings will pop up in a quiet way and i`ll start obsessing about that a bit or i am very emotional and feel like crying and will find ways to do that by listening to music or seeing clips that will make me cry. I am very much in an emotional roller coaster in that period of the month.. I feel so free when its over.

This year I've only had maybe two really bad ones but previous years have been more. Honestly, switching to organic products must be responsible for it and eating cleaner foods. Might get irritable at work for a day and want to choke people but who doesn't

Sag 8H (Venus Uranus Neptune Saturn live there)
Jupiter 1H square Moon 10H trine Sun 9H

I hate getting my period bc it's nasty asf, but I don't really PMS. I feel normal when I have it. My one guy friend told me I was too chill to PMS lol.

My 8th house ruler is Saturn (in the 11th house) and the aspects:

Mars opposite Saturn
Jupiter sextile Saturn
Saturn sextile Asc

And one would think by looking at my chart that I PMS a lot because I have Moon in Cancer in the 1st house, but I don't.

I don't get PMS, but I expect this to change at some point since absolutely nothing in my life is stable. I've already formed a theory that I might get PMS during a job interview or on the first day of work. You know, moments that could cost you if you've never experienced PMS before and you have the level of pain sensitivity that I do.

My placements:
Gemini in 8th house.
Mercury in 6th house.
Mercury sextile Saturn - orb of 4.
Mercury square Uranus - orb of 4.
Mercury square Neptune - orb of 3.

You know, I think the 6th house confuses me the most, but it supposedly rules health issues. I see PMS as a health-related issue, so I thought my 8th house ruler in 6th house might mean something. I am not sure what though.

I don't have PMS. Here's why: http://www.dailylife.com.au/health-and-fitness/dl-wellbeing/why-the-pms-myth-is-bad-for-women-20150331-1mbp6o.html http://feministing.com/2008/10/28/pms_is_a_social_construction/

Not the astro answer you're looking for, sorry, but I think some women here would like to read that.

But... so that I'm not too rude, my placements, Libra 8H cusp, Venus trine Saturn, square Moon, sextile Chiron.

Some say PMS is related to the collective feminine pain body. All the shame and disgust which have been heaped on womyn by the patriarchy around this most sacred of times.. the blood of our wombs is the carrier of life. None of us would exist without it.

In ancient times and in societies which were recently colonized, women would be given as much time and solitude and support as possible during their moon time/menses. There were special areas designated for women who were bleeding. Intrusions into these sacred spaces were strictly forbidden.

I find I get especially touchy a day or so before bleeding if I am not getting the space I require. The teachings in my tradition are that women are extremely powerful during this time. I think if there is no outlet for the energy coursing through us and anything beyond our specific focus on the inner workings of our magical beings/bodies is being demanded of us, mood swings and anger are perfectly natural.

They are our body's way of defending us against unwanted intrusions.

When we think we should hold the flow back or there have been messages that menstruating is less than wonderful and beautiful this can produce pain and blockages, physical and emotional.

Thanks for sharing the placements.

Hormones are very real, the fact that we bleed out of our Vaginas is very real, the fact that our bodies get ready every single freaking month to conceive and getting our periods is the result of not conceiving is very real and not socially constructed. Hormones play a huge role in our emotions and well being and some women are more sensitive to hormonal changes than others so PMS is not socially constructed and they use to call it hysteria back in the day.

Ofcourse your body under going a complete transformation every month for a lot of women would lead to nasty symptoms. Yes exercise, diet and taking supplements can help control the symptoms up to a certain point but saying that is a myth and that is socially constructed is insulting specially for women that have it even worse than me in that department. You probably don't get real terrible PMS to start with so exercising, diet and taking supplements helps you a lot to the point that you don't experience any symptoms at all but for SOME people even if they did everything in that article it would only ALLEVIATE the symptoms not get rid of them and their period would still be disruptive even if they take medication.

Hyp, I feel almost just like you do a couple days a month also. Irrationally incensed by the smallest things. It helps to identify what is going on with my body and know that it will pass.

I have Jupiter conjunct Vertex in the 8th in Gemini. Mars at 1 Aries in the 5th. And a lot of planets in Scorpio I'm my 1st--this would relate to my body and reproductive organs.

i want to do a little more digging to see which signs and planets regulate hormones though. I know Scorpio and the 8th are related to reproductive organs, I would think Taurus and the 2nd too... but the hormone regulation might have other rulerships?

It's an interesting topic. Do you usually menstruate at the same time every month? I switch back and forth between new and full moon...
