Do people who love food/cooking ever lack major placements in Taurus or Cancer?

I could see Libra and Sag as possibilities, but Cancer and Taurus seem like the most likely candidates.

I have a few people in my family who love to cook, and some do it professionally.

My brother in-law has Jupiter in Taurus in H10 with Jupiter trine Mars in H6, so it makes sense for him to be a chef.

My mom has Sun and Mercury in Cancer, but only NN in Taurus...I guess that's enough to create a love of food?

My brother is also a chef, but I can't really find any placements to back that up in his chart.

I've been really into recipes and cooking lately, and while there are some reasonable explanations for this (I normally refuse to be bothered with the kitchen; I have nothing in Taurus, and only outer planets in the other signs), I can't find any transits that would indicate as much.

Except maybe Jupiter transiting through my H2?

Are you a food person, or do you know some? What placements/aspects do you think are associated with it?

Morning Violets,

I also know lot of Capricorns who like to cook. And sometimes I love cooking.

Some celebrity chefs are Cappy: Nigella Lawson & Ree Drummond. Both share my birthday actually.

ETA: So maybe your Cap Mars is a factor.

I don't have any Cancer/Taurus placements (except asteroids) and I love food and to cook! I'm pretty good and I love making up my own recipes. I have Venus in the 4th, which is a pretty good indicator. I think if you have a lot of 4th house activity or have significant planets in the 4th house that would indicate someone who probably likes to cook.

Ditto, normally.

I guess maybe it's Jupiter transiting through My H2 at the moment.

Morning!

Maybe that contributes to my ability to cook...general willingness is another story, lol.

But lately, I'm all about cooking.
I mean...I'm feeling very home oriented anyway, but I guess it might be Jupiter as well?

Still tyring to figure out my brother's chart...I don't think he has much in Cap or H4, but I'll double-check.

I've been told that I cook well, but I don't like cooking. I can be picky with food. However I do enjoy been an ocasional cooker whenever I'm in the mood for it. XD

I have Libra placements, but I have no planets in my 4th house. My IC is in Cancer.

Oh, I just realized that my brother's IC is in Taurus, and he has Jupiter in H4.

My mom has Capricorn Moon...

My step-mom, and my father in-law and his wife all love to cook as well, but they all have major Cancer placements (Sun and Moon).

My uncle is a Sag Sun, and he also loves to cook...but I believe he also has a Cancer Moon. I'll check...

Edit.
Yeah, my uncle has a Cancer Moon.

@ Faith and Mergoatsun,

That's interesting about Capricorns! I do think that earth signs tend to lean towards having a knack for cooking, at least. It's kind of an earthy activity, to my way of thinking.

I suspected it might have been his 4th house (;

I think it's interesting too! I didn't know caps had a propensity to be chefs. It makes sense though being on the axis with cancer, while cancer/4th house is associated with the home and with home cooks, capricorn/10th house is associated with career and in that probably professional chefs.

I will be honest though, my SO does most of the cooking and he especially enjoys food and making food. He is secondly dominant in Cancer, Cancer in his 1st and 2nd house, his Sun, Mercury and Jupiter in his 4th house. He has cancer mars as well. So I definitely believe Cancer/4th house activity has to do with love of food/cooking

I hate cooking and I'm a Cancer Sun, but I have nothing in Taurus and my 4th house is empty. As for eating food, I enjoy a good meal but I'm not drooling over any food like some people...

I love food. I'll never pass up on a chance to eat, but I can't cook worth a damn. I guess this is because of Jupiter in Cancer on the DSC. Moon is in mutual reception. Based on personal experience, I attribute love of food to both cancer placements and Jupiter in aspect to 'comfort'' planets moon and Venus.

I suppose Capricorn applies here too, because they have a surprising creative streak if they put their minds to it

I had this really great cooking teacher! She has gotten quite a bit of recognition, if I am correct. But, regardless, easily one of my favorite teachers I've had. I took 4 classes with her.. She really knew how to make things interesting and involve the students.

I kinda freaked out when I found out she's a Cancer. However, I never was able to look at her whole chart. Makes me wonder.

I love to eat, I have Mars in Cancer.

I'm not really "domestic" at all in the sense that I hate cooking. I'll do it because I have to but I don't get any sense of enjoyment out of it.

I agree.

Well both of my close Cap friends and I often talk about food & cooking. Sorry to be a cliche but we honestly all love gourmet groceries, and we get really into it. My one Cap friend will tell me if she put a special order in for Octopus (She's Aqua rising.) And all three of us love exotic, healthy, tasty ingredients...we all want quality food and we'll do the leg work to get it.

My father dated a Capricorn for several years, great cook, and she gave me my favorite cookbook, called Ayurvedic Cooking for Westerners. There is a soup recipe in there that has become the mainstay of my winter diet. I typically will eat it at least 3x a week. No complicated technique, I just have to dice, grate, and slice a bunch of vegetables. But it's so colorful and delicious.

I put in daikon radishes, burdock root (when it's available) and dried shiitake mushrooms for cleansing, and I like a mix of orange vegetables for beauty, since I am strangely delighted to see many shades of the same color, all together. It's like family reunited: carrots, yams, butternut squash. Greens go in at the very end to retain that vibrant green color. It's like painting with food.

I'll shut up now but here's the recipe:

^ Oh my gosh, that sounds so good! But I don't have the patience to search for ingredients or do a lot of grating (although strangely, I will grate soap for DIY laundry/dish washer detergent, lol).

When I do cook, I cook comfort food, nothing exotic at all. Stews, chowders, biscuits and gravy, squash...just basics. But I do try to use organic and unbleached foods.

My brother in-law is somewhere in the middle, with his Aqua Sun and Cap Mars (in H6 like mine).

If I so much as see an ingredient that's not very basic in a recipe I'm like "nope".

But I'll eat it if someone else makes it!

My dad is a cancer moon and he is the chef of the house. My grandmother said when he was a little kid he wanted a play kitchen for Christmas. I don't think there's too many boys who want one :-p

I'm also noticing that a lot of people (at least the ones I know) who love food/cooking often have, in addition to placements noted, a trine from Jupiter to Venus or Mercury, but usually from either H4 or H10 (and maybe H2).

You think being Venus ruled I would love cooking because of how much I appreciate luxuries...

There's two types of people
1)the people who cook the food
And
2)the people who eat the food

I'm the person who eats it. I don't have the patience to cook something when I can buy something already made or easy to make; Like something I'll have to warm ...but by scratch? Hell to the no. That to me is a waste of time

My mom is a Cap Sun, Cancer rising. She loves to cook, and she's very good at it. She cooks comfort foods and hearty meals, but she also likes to make a variety of foods...Greek, Japanese cuisine, etc. from time to time. Nothing too fancy, but still flavorful.

I have a Virgo stellium and a Cap stellium. I also have Venus and Jupiter in my 6th house. I like to cook and enjoy making homemade meals for people I love. I do tend to throw in more veggies where I can, and I look at the sodium, fat, etc. while I'm cooking.

Strangely some of the best cooks I know are Cappy Moons! I have one friend I wish I could hire to be my professional chef lol. And of course my mom is one, and I might be biased, but I love her food.

I find that Cancer moons think they're amazing cooks, but in my experience just okay.

I'm a Pisces and way too lazy to cook most of the time unless it's an art form, like making smiley faces on pancakes or holiday cookies that look like reindeer lol

***btw I need to look up that cookbook!

I LOVE to cook--Cancer Moon and Mars. I would be really sad if I had no one to cook for. I make people rate my cooking from one to ten
