I'm a bit late responding here, but as an 8th house Pisces sun/moon with Leo Asc, I have to say I'm a realistic optimist. In the sense that I try to see the positive in my situations. I don't like to be sad and see things as gloom and doom. For instance, I've had one hell of a week. But I chose to point out a positive thing that happened at the end of each of those rough days. It helps bring down the stress, realize that I'm not completely losing my mind, and helps me restart an inner calmness for the next day. Is this a Leo Asc trait?I guess I also get my optimism from my strength of facing adversity. It hasn't been easy having a speech disability but it has forced me to always try to see the light at the end of the tunnel even if I've had a rough day because of it. I guess after years of forcing myself to think positively on the days that I felt like giving up and surrendering to the challenges of my impediment, it helped build a foundation of determination to always remain optimistic :-) On another note, I was just wondering to myself if Anne Frank was a Leo ascendant. I just looked it up right now, and indeed she is :-) She had a beautiful quote: "In spite of everything I still believe that people are really good at heart. I simply can’t build up my hopes on a foundation consisting of confusion, misery, and death. I see the world gradually being turned into a wilderness, I hear the ever approaching thunder, which will destroy us too, I can feel the sufferings of millions and yet, if I look up into the heavens, I think that it will all come right, that this cruelty too will end, and that peace and tranquility will return again." I can relate to that, but I guess it's just semantics for me. I don't consider myself to be optimistic, but rather I don't like to sit around and allow life to beat the crap out of me. I've been there and done that, and I don't like it. I prefer to be strong in the face of adversity, if possible. But no, I would not consider myself optimistic, still. I remain thankful for what I have when life gets hard, because I know it could be much, much worse. And when it's difficult, I do try not to dwell on that. But I do worry a lot in my spare time! My Virgo Moon loves this motto: Hope for the best, and prepare for the worst. IP: Logged |

@polkadotstarsI love that quote. http://www.astrotheme.com/astrology/Anne_Frank Leo moon, Mars, and Neptune, too! And again, Pisces in the 8H. I feel like Pisces in the 8H knows how to embrace the darkness, and see beyond it. IP: Logged |

That's my general attitude, too. No matter how bad something is, I'm thinking, "Could be worse." For the most part. There have been moments here and there where I don't have that perspective and cannot be comforted by anything. So often when I think "it could be worse" I'm thinking back to those few times when I was inconsolable. But I believe in heaven, a universal force of love, higher meaning...and that puts a buffer on everything. IP: Logged |

Yes, this. I don't believe in Heaven, and my thoughts on spirituality can fluctuate. But I do believe that some things happen for a higher reason. Emphasis on the word *some*. But that's a recent development for me, that skepticism. I don't mind it, though. I should say that I do believe in a spiritual afterlife, but I don't know what that looks like, or if it's necessarily the same for everyone. I do believe in guides, angels, spiritual helpers, and our loved ones looking after us after they've passed on, if they choose to do so and are able. Anyway, I'm getting way off topic, lol. If I don't shut up, I'll get my thread moved to Divine Diversities. IP: Logged |

Oh that's what I meant by heaven...an afterlife. But I think it's a GOOD afterlife, for most people, in most ways...that's what the people who've had NDE's keep saying. Keeping this short so it doesn't get moved to DD. IP: Logged |
