I haaaaate the silent treatment. I dated a Leo once who was seriously proud and would give me the total silent treatment over any small insult to his ego.

I am also dating a Cancer with Leo Mars and he is the king of giving me the silent treatment if he is hurt.

Which placements do you think are likely to resort to emotional punishment / the big freeze like this?

To the level of maybe cutting off their nose to spite their face?

Ha ha, I an understand going quiet to avoid an argument - but what drives me insane is when people will punish by stonewalling.

It really makes me feel bad

I know But I am afraid that If I blow up.... well... I BLOW UP. So I tend to avoid and just shut up. It is better than have a angry meltdown . I have mars and moon in aries and if it is triggered....

Fire signs. I can think of three, no, SIX Sags / Sag placements who think silent treatment is acceptable, Capricorn Moons also.

Cancer never really gave me the silent treatment, just passive-aggressiveness and whining.

I feel like this is a fixed sign/planet trait. my mom does that when shes pist at me and shes a scorpio ha. my little brother has his moon conj Uranus and hes a cancer, he will straight up ignore you for days if hes mad at you.
also have had a boyfriend with leo rising and moon and he would ignore me. I don't like it it drives me crazy, that's why hes my ex ha. I dated an aqua boy who would shut down and just stop talking anytime there was an argument. I can see the similarity between the leo/aqua axis in that.
then scorpio will out of pride and stubbornness too ha, they aaaaallll stubborn lol

I can't believe some people said fire signs. Fire signs are known for being direct and straight forward. If we have a problem with you, we tell it right to your face. I'm fire dominant and I'm not passive aggressive and never given anyone the silent treatment.

I agree with you on aries and sag being very blunt and straight forward. I feel like the temper of aries rises really quick and will blow over super fast. my sun is conj mars in libra and I get over stuff pretty fast usually ha, but I also have a dominant pluto so its really gotta hurt my feels. anyways, I have had leo placement people give silent treatments and I think its from that really intense, fixed energy. i mean, the leos I know do have pluto making a square to their leo signed planets so.. haha that could be why they just keep it all in

Most of my planets are fixed signs except Mercury so I do give silent treatment. It's just for one simple reason that I need time to process my thought and feeling after a fight/disagreement. They say words can hurt. I don't wanna hurt someone when anger is clouded my judgment and true feeling. I'll come around when I can see all sides of a story.

Umm...off the top of my head.. People with Saturn squares (to personal planets)?
Or, introverted mercury.. Those who would rather 'process' (or suppress) internally first..

I'm not good at the silent treatment. I don't like being on the receiving end of it, and I don't like to do it to others.

Aries with Saturn square Mercury...

My Sadge mother is good at giving the silent treatment. So is my Cappy sister. I don't know what would help with that.

I agree with Cancer. They go into their shell and can sulk for days. My ex has Cancer Sun and Mercury, and a 12th house Virgo Mars. He was very passive aggressive, and would stonewall me when he was upset instead of communicating like an adult. It drove me nuts, which is exactly what he wanted. It's understandable if someone needs to cool down or organize their thoughts before communicating, but my ex used the silent treatment to punish me. It was very emotionally manipulative, and it sends the message that if you say or do anything they don't like you get iced out. I like to deal with issues directly, so it was torture for me.

Yes, for me it was very painful and angering. I felt very unloved even though I didn't know what I had done to deserve it (well I only had a vague idea because I liked reading into his emotions, but he was never clear to me). In the end I learned to simply disengage from that person; which, after trying to confront things several times, was the only thing left I could do. And gladly it worked great. I felt much better.
I agree, what I hate is when they don't communicate about something that has been hurting them but they hurt you back. Nobody close to me, not my family, has ever treated me like thatŕ. If you have a problem, you talk about it to resolve it.
But when you try to confront the silent treatment person, they either look bewildered and don't respond, or tell you some lie about it that you can read like one, two, three. This happens when they are immature and don't communicate as adults.

Yes I find it very painful.

It's the worst someone can do to me. I prefer they shout at me.

I "broke up" with my cancer boyfriend a few days ago. His choice...he was recently bureaved and lost both his parents and he was not emotionally present in the relationship and said he was letting me go to spare me etc.

He is not giving me MAJOR silent treatment. Which I know signals he is angry with me in some way - but I am not sure why.

He ended the relationship - so I am confused.

I prefer people to talk to me and just explain.

I have a Leo Mars and I give the silent treatment a lot.
Pride thing, I guess.

Aquarius can possibly be guilty of this

I'll just cut contact for awhile to give both of us space. But then i end up liking the space and forget how long it's been since we've talked lol

i don't do it to spite the other person, but i do it b/c it's better to look at things from a clear perspective and during an argument it's hard to do that. myself personally, i never say things i regret during an argument but it's more for the other person.

Yes, well there is a difference between simply wanting space and doing it on purpose to spite the other person. :/

This reminded me ---
"Who’d stoop to blame
This sort of trifling? Even had you skill
In speech—which I have not—to make your will
Quite clear to such an one, and say, “Just this
Or that in you disgusts me; here you miss,
Or there exceed the mark”—and if she let
Herself be lessoned so, nor plainly set
Her wits to yours, forsooth, and made excuse—
E’en then would be some stooping; and I choose
Never to stoop."

^ From My Last Dutchess. We had this one at school, and I always thought the Duke was a Leo sun/mars gone haywire.

That's funny, and your comment and Orange's remind me of my Leo Uncle, who says, "Do not complain, and do not explain." I'm not wired that way, but it would be nice.

My sister has a Mars in Sagittarius, Mum has Mars in Leo, conjunct Pluto.

I find it funny that this thread was made, since there's someone lurking on the forums that is a master at this. One won't even realize what they've done wrong when they've recieved it.

But as for Aquarius, I tend to get away from people due to a need for space. With Mars Conjunct Ascendant exact, you shouldn't expect me to not be upfront and to the point. I do need to get away from people, but if I am mad I usually display it more than hide it; it makes me feel better

Mars in Cancer is a good one. Even my teacher with MiC has admitted to doing this herself, which confirms it even more. I also know a Taurus with a Libra Ascendant that does this after an argument, which is surprising because of her first house Mars (it is retrograde though).

------------------
Aquarius Sun, Merc, Venus, Uranus, Neptune
Scorpio Mars conj. Asc in First
8th House Moon opposite Pluto, Trine Uranus
Have you caught onto the predicament I'm in yet?
