The placement of a person's Moon sign is the most intriguing part about Astrology in my opinion. Your Sun and Ascendant are your outer personas, but your Moon sign is who you are deep down on the inside. There is no flaw when it comes to your Moon sign, it is who you TRULY are.

When you come home from a long day of work and crash on the couch, you are your Moon.

When you love someone, you are your Moon.

When you cry, you are your Moon.

Your Moon is the most intimate part of who you are, and anyone who gets to see that side of you is really lucky.

Sometimes we make judgments about people based on their outer-vibes (the Ascendant), and that's not a good idea. I'm a Capricorn Ascendant, and I can tell you straight up that I'm not business oriented once you get to truly know me. I'm actually very laid-back and I prefer to socialize more than doing work.

Anyways, back to my point. Your Moon is who you TRULY ARE.

Whenever I did the “aspects explanation” series posts, I would always get a few people saying that I didn’t cover an aspect that they had. So this article is my gift to those people that missed out, I wrote about EVERYONE! These descriptions are ‘my own’ personal opinions from my various interactions with different Moon Signs. If you need me to elaborate on one for you, let me know!

Moon in Aries - These people have very changeable emotions and can go from being happy to sad in a matter of seconds or vice versa. They can also be very impatient and impulsive. However, these people know exactly what they want and aren't afraid to speak up from themselves. If you think for a second that you can bully an Aries Moon, think twice because they'll beat you to the punch - or they'll just literally punch you. Other than that if you ever want a friend that’ll defend themselves and you as well, you’d want them to have an Aries Moon.

Moon in Taurus – Lunar Taurans have an easy-going manner and prefer to not be rushed when asked to do things. They find comfort in a life of luxury. They love to buy expensive things being that it brings such great value to them and makes them feel “at one” with themselves. Taurus Moons like any other Earth Moon is very ambitious and they have goals they’d like to reach someday in life. They are very grounded individuals and try not to let their emotions overwhelm them.

Moon in Gemini – Lunar Gemini loves to talk, talk, talk. What I’ve noticed about these people is that communication with other people allows them to process their emotions better. They have an instinctive need to talk your ears off. I’ve realized that every Gemini Moon I’ve gotten into the car with, they talked to me the entire ride – with me being an Air Sun and Moon, I didn’t mind but I do realize that they never ran out of something to say. They also like to avoid boredom at all cost so if you’re hanging out with them, being quiet the entire time will be a complete turn off. They love intellectual exchanges and sharing ideas.

Moon in Cancer – These people are like the mothers of all the Moon sign. They are very caring and nurturing and they have a tendency to feel sorry for people. They are very in-tune with the moment and can grasp feelings and emotions easily (just like any other Water Moon). They have a VERY EXCELLENT memory and can remind you about how you made fun of their appearances in grade school. They can be very forgiving but they’ll never forget.

Moon in Leo – Can you say “Diva”? These folks like to be the center of attention and do whatever they can to take the spotlight. As children, they don’t mind getting in front of people and to sing or dance. They express their personalities very strongly and aren’t ashamed of who they are and where they come from. They KNOW their purpose and have a strong drive to achieve their goals.

Moon in Virgo – These are the neat freaks and being organized means a great deal to them. They have their own planners, to-do lists etc. everything must be in order for them to function, they do not like disorganization and confusion. Have you ever been in a Virgo Moon’s bedroom and it was messy? Most likely not. These are the children that’ll actually clean their rooms without their parents having to hound them about getting it done. They prefer to live in clean and organized environments because it allows them to function better.

Moon in Libra – These people seek balance and harmony. They don’t like getting into many arguments with people nor do they like being on anyone’s bad side. If you hear a Libra Moon say “I don’t care if you don’t like me”, they are lying. Moon in Libras want to be liked and appreciated by everyone. They feel good when they are in a relationship with someone and when they look beautiful. The Libra Moon males may like to get their haircuts more often than other males, and the Libra Moon females may do their nails and hair more often than other women. These people WANT and NEED to look beautiful and they will not go out if they notice a flaw in themselves. If you call a Libra Moon ugly, you’ve definitely put a damper on their day and hurt their feelings and they’ll never forget that you said that. They are very sensitive about their appearances. They also love beautiful surroundings, if you visit a Libra Moon’s home you’ll notice they have many nice paintings and good home décor on the walls.

Moon in Scorpio – These people are very intense with their emotions. They can only be VERY happy or VERY sad, there is no in-between with them. They are very perceptive people and can tell if someone is lying to them. They can see beneath the surface of things and you cannot fool them. Like Cancer Moon, their memory is extremely powerful and they remember conversations almost word for word. They can unfortunately have jealous tendencies and have a hard time forgiving people. Moon in Scorpios are also very private, they’ll tell you information without revealing too much. They are more interested in other people’s private life but prefer to not reveal much about their own. I’ve noticed that on Snapchat most of my past friends that are Scorpio Moons still keep tabs on me and will view my posts on Snapchat. I get more views from the Scorpio Mooners than most other Moons. Scorpio Moons are very curious and like to get to the bottom of things. If you want a friend that’s going to be there for you through thick and thin (as long as you don’t betray them), they need to have a Moon in Scorpio.

Moon in Sagittarius – These people are always on the go and hate being in one spot for too long. They love travel and wouldn’t mind going somewhere overseas. Traveling gives them an opportunity to recharge themselves emotionally. Most people with this placement or dominant Sagittarius placements in general have a strong sense of humor. Anybody with a Sagittarius Moon loves a great laugh from time to time. If you take jokes too seriously, these aren’t the ideal friends for you (which explains why Sagittarius and Pisces are squared by sign – Pisces can be a bit sensitive).

Moon in Capricorn – These people have very strong hearts; they don’t cry often or let too many emotional obstacles stop them from getting to their goals. Capricorn Moons are extremely ambitious and know what they want from childhood. Like Virgo Moon, Capricorn Moon children do not have to be told to clean their room, they are pretty responsible and take responsibility for their own actions. Sometimes it may seem as if they are “cold” or don’t show much emotion, but Capricorn Moons definitely have emotions, however it feels a bit strange to them to constantly say “I LOVE YOU” or be mushy per-say. I have a close friend with this placement and sometimes he’ll act like he doesn’t care about certain things, but deep down he does. Moon in Capricorn is very similar to Scorpio Moon, showing their emotions to people puts them on edge, unless they have Moon in the 1st house.

Moon in Aquarius – Aquarius Moon has a reputation for being “emotion-less” just as Capricorn Moon. It is not that Aquarius Moons are emotionless, it’s just that they process their emotions intellectually (like Gemini and Libra Moon). They prefer to think their emotions through rather than let depression burn through their heart. If an Aquarius Moon isn’t in a good mood, it’s in your best interest to just leave them alone. Aquarius Moons enjoy alone time and being aloof in order to recharge. However, at the same time, when they are happy they love to hangout with friends and socialize. In fact, they have several friends and love hanging out in groups rather than one-on-one (partnerships is more of a Libra Moon trait). Aquarius Moons can also be very eccentric and love to shock people from time to time, they don’t like being told what to do and they prefer you not rush them as well (as with all fixed signs).

Moon in Pisces – These people are literally the “sweethearts” of the zodiac. I don’t care how strong a person’s Sun sign is. If they have an Aries Sun and a Pisces Moon they’ll definitely have a soft-spot for people. Pisces Moon can be a bit similar to Libra Moon, however they are a bit more in touch with their emotional side and process their emotions differently than Libra Moon. Pisces Moons are very intuitive and can feel out a person’s intentions quite easily, although they are nice, they can still be skeptical of people at times. Sometimes a Pisces Moon will acutely know that someone is taking advantage of them, but they’ll allow them to because a Pisces Moon is so good-hearted. Just like all water signs, they feel their emotions on a deep level and out of all the Water Moons, Pisces Moons are more likely to cry in front of others. This is something I’ve noticed personally. As with all Water Moons, Pisces Moons have a proficient memory as well.

My mother and brother both have Virgo Moons, and I think their characteristics supersede the typical "neat-freak" stereotype. Both of them are pretty disorganized to be honest...and not really ones to live by a list.

Both of them are very vocal with their feelings about things which I think is where the Mercury ruling Virgo comes into play. I think people forget about that part of it. Their emotional natures are DEFINITELY critical but more in a back-handed helpful way? Such as - "I really love her but her manners aren't that great" or "I would marry her if she went back to school and bettered herself" - almost like you know it's coming from a good place even if it sounds otherwise? It's hard to describe. But it's definitely a very HELPFUL moon, kind of like the Venus placement. They show their feelings by being there for you in practical, meaningful ways.

Moon is a strong part of who we are
But its also very regressive to be too much in our moon
As Eugenio Carutti explains so well
Our moon is our inner refuge but shouldnt be anything else.

I agree with this. I have noticed that even when sun signs are squared, if each person's moon sign is compatible than it can still be a harmonious relationship. I have also known people with sun signs that were compatible with mine, but we each had our moons squared and our energy together was off. I also think Mercury is another overlooked planet too. Our emotions and the way we think and communicate are very important personality attributes. I do feel my moon sign very strongly, but that can also be because it is one of the most dominant planets in my chart. Maybe it can depend on how strong a planet is in someone's chart?

Some of these fit for the people with the moon sign and others did not. What jumps out at me is that for those the description fits very well have sun and/or stellium in the same sign, while those who don't really match up with the description have a lot of conflicting placements which no doubt mute (or even override) their moon.

In one case, one fit the description well at one time, but overcame the limitations due to overcoming adversity, which was not easy but was rewarding. How she dealt with the adversity can also be explained with the chart.

Yeah, I notice that I fit the Cancer Moon description too as I have three personal planets in Cancer. My Moon sign is also a water sign in Pisces, so it flows well with the Cancer placements. I do think that water Moons can soften a person's personality a bit if they have heavy fire or air in their chart. But like you mentioned, aspects can also affect the Moon placements too, so if someone has a lot of squares to their Moon, it can harden the Moon sign and so that person would probably have to face many more obstacles than someone with more harmonious Moon aspects.

They all seem accurate, but I disagree about the Moon sign being who you are. The Moon sign is your emotional nature, and my Scorpio Moon is just that. I identify more with my Gemini Sun, as I always felt that that side of me was the "real me", as the Scorpio Moon only comes out when I'm upset or in activities to fulfill the needs of the Gemini Sun (like needing to know everyone's signs... I'm guilty of looking at Facebook pages of people I know just to get the DOB so I can find their signs, so mentioning that for Scorpio Moon is VERY accurate). Most Scorpio Suns I know display more of the Scorpio traits publicly (love of tattoos, mysteries, occult subjects, and dark music, sexuality, penetrative personalities, etc. Many millennials have tattoos and/or wear dark clothing because their Pluto is in Scorpio, which means that it's like the generational Sun sign) while Scorpio Moons only come out around people who really know them.

In my case I identify a lot more with my moon in Pisces than with sun in Virgo but my strongest planet happens to be Neptune so maybe that is why. My Neptune squares my sun opposite moon forming a t-square.

My Leo moon loves to be centre of attention but as a child I had bad performance anxiety even though there was such a great part of me that wanted to be on stage and in the lime light. I had to fight this one because well Mr. Saturn is hanging out right next to my moon, about 4 degrees over. Booooooooo
I've finally been able to overcome it though. Better late than never lol and I'm loving it, can't get enough of the stage.

I get that from an Aries sun girlfriend and my Mars in Leo also loves that haha! It's so endearing to hear the passion behind it lol

Pisces Moons are more likely to cry in front of others.

So basically we are all cry babies, ha!

Quite the contrary my friend...

I got enough fire in my chart to evaporate the cry baby tendencies.

I wonder if in reality there is sag moon who doesn't like traveling? Or feeling like it's a waste of time and money?

I've known one. His moon opposite venus and widely (10 or 11 degrees prob) conjunct saturn - I don't think it can be considered as conjunct?

My mars in sag thought moon in sag would be a fun traveling companion. But, nope. He doesn't like it, always feels tired or nags. We tend to hangout in the same place over and over again and he doesn't like me traveling.

The description on Gemini Moons is only half-right for me. In general I have to disagree with you on the moon sign being so much of who we are. With so much emphasis on the moon being our true selves this thread neglects the other parts of the chart which may compensate for or balance out the Moon sign's qualities. Personally I consider the entire chart as part of the person, not just the moon. The moon cannot summarize who we are. Human beings are more complex than that. To demonstrate my point I have given feedback on which portions of the post don't fit me and which ones do.

quote:
Moon in Gemini – Lunar Gemini loves to talk, talk, talk.
Not true for me. Although I love to talk I'm not really the chatterbox my moon sign would claim at first. My Gemini Moon is in 8th house so its house placement may indicate why I do not identify with this part of the description. Additionally, my Saturn in 3rd house may be another indicator of me not being as talkative as most Gemini Moons.

quote:
What I’ve noticed about these people is that communication with other people allows them to process their emotions better.
This is true. By putting my thoughts out there I find that conversations contribute to my emotions being easier to understand.

quote:
They have an instinctive need to talk your ears off. I’ve realized that every Gemini Moon I’ve gotten into the car with, they talked to me the entire ride – with me being an Air Sun and Moon, I didn’t mind but I do realize that they never ran out of something to say.
As mentioned earlier I am a bit on the quiet side. Actually, I've noticed that maybe I don't talk enough.

quote:
They also like to avoid boredom at all cost so if you’re hanging out with them, being quiet the entire time will be a complete turn off. They love intellectual exchanges and sharing ideas.
A part of the post I would like to place strong emphasis on being correct. If I am spending time with you then speak to me. Don't just have me sit there looking nice. I'll get annoyed and you don't want to see a Gemini Moon annoyed. All my exes didn't communicate with me often enough. That was a huge problem for me since I'm big on needing connection in my relationships. In all honesty my current boyfriend is the only person that has made an effort to maintain the relationship. I won't make time for people that won't talk to me at all. I have an extremely low boredom threshold. Once you cross it I definitely get furious.

P.S. I communicate better in writing. Anything I said about being quiet doesn't apply on the Internet.

aries moon here.

Pretty accurate for me. Hah when I used to get into lots of fights with school yard bullies.

Oh boy, yes, sometimes I seriously want to punch some people in the face. On some occasions I did, in self defense.

Your description of my moon sign (Gemini) fits me well. Funny thing, I just made friends with this girl a few months ago and currently she's going through some problems with her boyfriend. When she was talking to me about it her style of talking (and the amount of talking she did) reminded me irresistibly of myself lol. Everything she was saying I could relate to cause I thought just the same way. She's also a Sagittarius sun and I'm a Leo. Anyway, while she was talking, I was thinking to myself "I wonder if this girl's moon sign is Gemini like mine", so I got her birthday and went online to check and, lo and behold, it was. Or at least a 70% chance hehe.
