Sunnya, we would totally get along in person.

@bonsai

I'm not too knowledgeable on how your aspects might play out, but I love colors, patterns, and needlework, too.

So I wondered if your Neptune was aspected like mine. Yours opposes a water moon, mine squares a water moon...maybe that's it. Emotions linked with art.

It's interesting about capricorns liking rocks - I'd never have associated the sign with them but It gives me gift ideas for a cap now.

Children love stones, rocks and sticks - as you probably know - so I find it strange for the adult sign to also have that love of them. Not that it seems a childish thing but it does seem a ..magical thing which contradicts with its rational sign? Or maybe it's that point of magic for cap, the earths magic over and representative of time. Though thinking about it, I suppose it's more scientific than magical - it's just I think of them as talismans/amulets but I suppose Saturn is right on the bridge between so it kind of does make sense.

Seems Pisces to have that magical aspect so maybe you experience both. Also, I remember xodian describing how gems are associated with Pluto because of the hidden and underground and finding aspect I think.

Muddy, I find that story about your friend with the rock so endearing too. It's so cute!

Love your ruminations, florence....

I never delved into the psychology of my rock affections before...

But I remember talking to an acquaintance at a party in college, and he was interested in geology, telling me stories of all the different land formations, unusual mineral phenomena and deep-earth mysteries, and I thought, "I should have majored in that!"

I have a Scorpio sun/Cap Mars friend who travels far to go to mineral shows every year, looking at crystals and rocks, learning about them.

As for maturity, I don't know....

Children can be very perceptive, they can also make animistic assumptions, either feeling real consciousness in stones or imagining it. I have a faint resonance of that. I care for some of my rocks the way people care for plants. They have personalities. Just like people say about crystals and crystal healing....on some level that I never intellectualized, I feel things from rocks, or project the same feelings on them over and over, so they become like meditations.

I have one that fits the shape of my palm when I hug it. It feels very generous to me, that a rock would dedicate its whole life to feeling snug and cool in one of my hand hugs. Another rock is polished by mysterious means...was it ever set in a rock tumbler or was the ocean its tumbler? I love how it seems to have a sharp edge, but it's actually dulled over and silky to run my finger along, like it has given up its hurtful ways and taken on a peace stance.

See what I mean, I just relate to rocks.

Rocks might be a tricky gift but if someone gave me a very cool mineral like a stump of pyrite and called it a paperweight, I personally would love that!

Like this:

And I can think of other rock-gifts that might work...

On the mundane level Capricorn is an earth sign and maybe that means we like being attached to it. I gave my one Cap friend a candle holder made of beeswax for a birthday gift a few years ago....because beeswax is all natural and earthy.

Looks sorta like this when it's lit up:

She's a good photographer and included it in a picture of her house that she sent me, years later, and that was her gift back to me! To let me know she liked it enough to keep it in a prominent place, years later.

I don't know how to explain but it's something similar to liking watching sports I'm not invested in and can put my immediate concerns on the back burner but also being close to someone's personal interests whilst absent from too.

Have had people apologise for talking about work when I've actually drawn it out from them. There's almost something peverted about it - not literally sexual but it's as if it were, like I fetishise it and have that drive to know.

I think it could be 6th house sun ( opp Uranus in Scorpio again). Or maybe Venus sq Saturn. Or maybe merc opp Pluto lol I really don't know.

I think it is merc opp Pluto, thinking about it, as its that digging into the everyday and feels a bit like a journalistic impulse.

I love that too and have kept people talking for literally hours about their job.

My favorite part of Mr Rogers when I was little was when he went on factory tours and I could see how everything worked, and he'd have conversations with the workers. Much better than the Land of Make Believe.

I have a 6H sun and 3H Pluto, Mercury widely trine Pluto.

I feel bad for talking about work, because I could literally do that all day long, if I don't check myself. I'm a workaholic, so it takes up a chunk of my life. It's easy to get obsessed about it. (Mercury sextile Pluto and trine Saturn, here.)

I've thought about this, and my favorite things literally change depending on my environment.

At work, my favorite things are: my personal cell phone (so I can look up stuff I don't know), my work cell phone (so I can ask people questions about stuff I don't know), a pen and blank piece of paper (so I can write down important things that I need to remember), my trusty old stethoscope (not the most expensive model, but it's never failed me), my large insulated coffee cup (I don't drink coffee, but I usually keep juice, water or tea in it) and lip balm, because my lips get weirdly chapped at work.

My Virgo Sun and Mercury speaks to my love of working with simple and reliable equipment - even if it's not the most high-tech way of working, it's effective and works for me.

At home, I love: my tablet, laptop, large scented candles, my essential oils, aromatherapy diffuser, hearty & delicious homemade meals, hot water baths, my teapot, anything flannel, cotton or plush - blankets, PJs, pillows, socks, etc. I also love my heating blanket and humidifier.

Gemini Moon/Mars in 4th house/conjunct IC probably speaks to my need to be comfortable and sufficiently distracted at home.

If I go out with friends or family, I literally only bring my cellphone, money, ID and lip balm. No purse, wallet or anything. If it can't fit in my pockets, I don't bring it with me. It may be my Gemini Moon/Mars and Aquarius ASC tomboy side.

No quoting please.

I love to think about people's likes via astrology. Only a couple of days before this thread I was wondering why I didn't like human/animal figures and that no one would ever notice that about me - it's so personal that is there a clue of all of it astrology. So this thread was really timely for me.

are there any consistent factors in all peoples likes here? Seems like sun sign explains yours but us there anything else?. After lumping all my likes together I think what captures mine most, I mean ... Captures an aspect of all of them, is Pluto in libra in house 11 although I'd not think of that as esp significant but it's my asc ruler so maybe that's it.

I know exactly what you mean about tricky gifts ., ty .. That pyrite is amazing.

Beeswax.. I like natural materials, as an earth sign, too. I rarely actually go for but when I do, I really do which happens a lot with things my sun sign is associated with (think it's a squares and opp thing)

The cap I'm thinking of .. She's more the cap who likes sleek lines, minimalist and restrained design, very manufactured which is why I've never thought of organic materials in relation to cap but funnily enough when I was last with her, the thing she showed me was a piece of embroidery made for her so I think her cancer rising might be involved. Maybe I'm looking at too simplistically. Although like your friend she kept it in a prominent place ...maybe with your friend it was the sentimentality as much as the gift?

Wow, that's pretty similar Astrology I think that must be it!

I don't know who mr Rogers is so am thinking is a u.s thing but I remember being mesmerised by those kinds of videos at school. My mind can't understand the organisation of everything, how everything is made too on some level ..

You just need to find someone like me or faith

My friend was similar.. She felt bad. Even though I insisted I liked to hear it and that I hadn't been lying when a teacher friend mutual to us had talked a lot about work .. She didn't believe me

I missed the best bit..

That's beautiful, the way you describe that. I feel like that could become a short story.

And now I understand more. Thank you for sharing that and I never would have thought of that but but yes, with children they do register consciousness in things!

I'll add a picture in agreement in a second ...

My daughter brought this back from the beach last week with some other pebbles she'd decorated more intricately but this one just got eyes because it was like a being .,, and it really is. Ever angle you turn it from, it has this personality and you want to hold it too.. I've not really done justice to the shape in my pic, it's very tactile. On a related note she once had a pet mango that she slept with. I suppose that's the root of witchcraft / magic .. Seeing consciousness in things

Cute rock!

We could talk forever, florence. Why not here? You're a Taurus, yes? I have a Taurus SN. What better place for us to convene than in a thread about object appreciation?

Be back later ~

Hope you're all having a nice weekend.

I really love anything that's blue iridescent, such as:

^ Blue morpho butterflies

^ Blue opals

^ Seashells. This is abalone.

It's such a relief to learn how things are made, isn't it? Clears up confusion you weren't even aware you had.

It looks warm..."warm blooded"...like soapstone.

I don't know the first thing about magic, so I just looked up a website on how to do spells (believe it or not, it's the first time I researched this) and it crashed my computer. LOL

So I had to re-type my reply to you here.

Anyway, seems like Frankenstein if you can take energies from this and that thing and combine them to be a whole other energetic "thing"...or force. I don't really know. That's the upside of confusion, when you can just invent your own story for how things happen.

Haha!! I'm flattered, actually.
Well, I dunno if I have cool stuff, really. On the one hand, I am too attached to certain things, but I can (and have) start(ed) over from scratch if all is taken away. having said that, though - some of the things I treasure are things given to me by people, which is too eclectic a mix to list. Or even not given by them, but connected to them (a person/place/memory). Just some "tangible memories", you could say.

Also, things that are mine that have morphed into something else.
:edit:

I guess this thing comes from all the 8th house & 12th house stuff. 8th is so intangible yet so heavy, that it seeks relief in the 2nd house end of the axis -- by trying to make it tangible. I'm always trying to ground myself, in a lot of different ways.

I'm a terrible talker or conversation continuer I never know when the appropriate time to stop is. I like the way you are such a good hostess in your threads though. Is that your gem Mars?

Yes am Taurus sun

Magic .. I was thinking of a spell book I have, it references old spells and for e.g you have to ask trees if you can take their leaves or branches, wait for them to answer and leave a gift. Just thinking in that way, the inanimate as alive I think must be part of it.
