I've been a maladaptive daydreamer since 2010 almost (I was 16 then). It's really taken a toll on my life, and has affected my ability to go through life smoothly and enjoyably?

I have venus in virgo exactly squaring mars in gemini, (mars trine moon in aqua). Venus in 3rd as well. All that mental energy :s I guess daydreaming is my way of projecting that enormity of mental energy and coping with it.

I have neptune in capricorn in the 7th house.

I have seen a lot of research done on maladaptive daydreaming as being a coping mechanism from experiencing any type of abuse. I started doing it when i was really young (i think my first memory of it was when i was 7). The youtube astrologer 'Jewel Mayberry' has done a video on maladaptive daydreaming, though i think she only talked about contacts between neptune to mercury. The only strong neptune aspect i have is the moon conjunction.
I also have venus square mars exact (it's my strongest aspect). I'm a virgo and have mercury opposite uranus, so i have a lot of mental energy.
I used to feel embarrassed by it too. I don't really talk to people about it in my every day life, but i have told my sister and my mother and my best friend about it since finding out. It wasn't until december 2015 when i found out about the term "maladaptive daydreaming" but i knew as soon as it was being talked about that that's what ive been doing.

Maladaptive daydreaming is an extreme/excessive form of daydreaming. In a sense it's like your daydreams are extremely elaborate alternate realities that you kind of live out.. this can include using hand gestures, mouthing/talking to yourself (though to the person daydreaming we're probably talking to someone in our daydream), pacing. To some people who don't maladaptive daydream they can misconstrue it with being psychotic, but the thing is that people who maladaptive daydream know that their fantasies aren't real..

Interesting, thanks for explaining. I daydream a ton but I don't do the actions you described.

I have Neptune in Sag in the 12th house, conjunct Mars and NN, opposite Moon, square Jupiter in Pisces in the 3rd, sextile Pluto and trine chiron.

I am a maladaptive daydreamer since childhood. I am 43 now and even though I no longer build characters and talk about them to my life long friends.. some of the characters I have created are still with me… in my stories…

I wish I could do something constructive with my fertile imagination… I am not saying its completely useless because having a rich fantasy-dream world has kept me alive all these years.. whenever reality starts to hurt my soul too much. my maladaptive imagination helps me to jump away from it..

I can feel whatever I fantasize like real sometimes more than reality itself because in reality I always feel a need to control myself ( double Cap and heavily aspected Pluto ) on the other hand in dreams thats where I can be totally free, be whoever I want to be, do whatever I want to do…

I have always wanted to be a writer. still do…but It is never now to put it on paper… I am wring it everyday in my head…

Omg I feel ya, im a virgo, moon in 10th house, mars in scorpio in 8th house so i tend to have a lot of self control but im always so much more open in my daydreams. A lot of maladaptive daydream researchers have said that writing out your daydreams can help (- help to be in the present moment & considering how elaborate our daydreams are they could probably make for entertaining stories).
Tbh i feel like my daydreams save me too. I have severe depression but daydreaming has always been the thing that i can rely on to make me happy (although it isn't always such a helpful dependency :/ )

Reading all this makes me realise just how deep my Neptune contacts run. I relate to a lot of what has been said.

Where do Neptune hearts go? Do they find their way home or at the very least a place in the Sun?

Neptune in my chart is in the 10th house. I've seen it play out in different ways. From confusion about my career, disillusionment about a job, disillusionment about my father (accepting that he is human and makes mistakes), to focus on a creative field, etc.
Aside from the generational aspects (conj uranus, sextile pluto, opp jupiter), Neptune forms a very wide trine with my a sun (I don't think it counts) and a trine with my merc (<3).
Now added to that, I have 12th H venus and mars in pisces. Overall, it can be tough at times. When you try to get a clearer picture of who you are, where you are in life and where you want to be, you vacillate between clarity and confusion. The clarity is helped mostly because of my 1st house sun/merc which give a boost in self-awareness and Saturn dominance. But then, it's fleeting.
And now I know there's a term for my excessive daydreaming. I remember cracking a joke a few years ago, calling myself a professional daydreamer
It's always been a refuge/escape and my sanity at times. It's obviously shows dissatisfaction with real life, so I've tried to emulate the Daydream Me. Using the general themes in those highly intricate stories and comparing them to real life, might help in pushing someone to be..more if that's what they want.
One major obstacle that I'm facing is that I actively block my sensitivity/compassion/empathy. Due to fear of being taken advantage of, I tend to be extremely distrustful. As a result, I rarely let myself care - or I do at deeper levels but don't pick up on it - I may try and succeed in seeing the best in people, but don't give them the benefit of the doubt.
Neptunian/Piscean sensitivity is just too much of a hassle at times, that I've made the choice to be more tethered to earth when I can help it.
Easier said than done, though

I met a girl with Pieces Acc, she is an elf.

I see you have a lot of scorp planets, maybe this combinations makes you say that?

would you not like it if a beautifull guy thinks you are outwordly?

It may be your 9th house right?

All I know is pisces/neptune people seem to go two ways. I have a few family members with strong pisces/neptune and all of them have used drugs/alcohol & becoming rather delusional to escape from life, BUT the two ways it can go is that person summons the inner strength to start leading a healthier, SPIRITUAL (pisces) life of healing or sadly they are unable to walk the path of enlightenment and spend a great deal of their life time living in the shadows of the negative escapist tendencies..
Anyone with strong pisces/neptune should be very careful if they are to do drugs/drink

The thing is it isn't right to treat human beings like they are "outwordly", no human being can be expected act outwordly all the time.. if guys get the impression that someone is outworldy then they should keep in mind that no human owes them their outwordly personality/experience..

alludeu, in my thoughts I don`t think about expecting someone to act outwordly, and, in the end, I don´t think that girls ow me something

@alludeu

I think the "escapist" tendency may be to feel good. To feel engaged to how u intuitively feel life "should" be. Not how life is.

My escape is sex and porn. I know that's my drug. My exes all commented about how i couldn't leave them alone (in the sexual sense) . And now that i am single, its porn

Dear 9th Scorpio.

I have some astral aspects as you (Neptune in 12th conj Asc, trine venus and lossely trine Sun, opposite Moon, and I'm Pisces Sun.

All that I can tell you it's that embrace your neptunian qualities and learn that you can't change the world. There is a lot of suffering in the world, but you can make little changes around you releasing the suffering in your closest world (family, friends, neihgborns, pets)...

BTW I love animals sometimes even more than humans, we are a very cruel specie.

First things first, I apologize for kinda abandoning my own topic, had crazy couple of weeks!

@sis, everything you said sounds really familiar and hits too close to home. All those worlds and interesting conversations and situations and characters but on paper, it all sounds so blah and like it's been said million times before.

@Aries23Degrees this question is so profound! I hope we all do. Maybe this is not yet our world but maybe sometimes it will be. Maybe we will, as humans, rise above our own egos and basic self interests and realize that things we say and do affect everything. And that maybe, not everything is really about I.

@Sal90
I know the feeling. Sometimes I build walls between people I do love and care about and me because, from time to time, paranoia kicks in and I start to think no one cares about me. Also, does avoiding relationships count as a hobby?

@Tension Empire it can get a little frustrating because I am not made up fantasy without flaws. Also, I'm pretty open and honest about my personality and I know I can be smartass pushover from time to time. Also stubborn and cruel. No matter how much I am upfront with all of those things, people just won't accept it until they see it and act all surprised.

@alludeu agreed with everything you said.

@Piscean Tigress I know this is not appearance based thread, but this one sounds to me you are such a beautiful person, inside and outside
We are, aren't we?

Also, one time I went on a date whit guy who said and I quote: ''You look like someone who likes to be right ALL the time'', which, I do, but don't we all?

Also, matched with guy on Tinder once who said I have mean looking face. That one was funny.

Dated a guy who was convinced I was kitten-ish and claimed I was clingy.

This is the guy part I mentioned in a nutshell.

Honorable mentions go to:
1. That one guy I dated back in high school for a week and now he adds me on Facebook every year.
2. To that one ex who wanted to go into arts and crafts but with my hair.
3. My ex who cheated me and we broke up via Facebook but is now behindhurt because I dumped her.

It's kinda funny it's kinda sad. Yup, quoting Gary Jules now.
