The ironic thing is I've always been a germaphobe....my parents even got me a psychologist and all the precautions for Coronavirus is my natural behavior that my parents wanted the psychologist to correct.

Perhaps I'm a contrarian in all of this....

So far the virus has been beneficial for me.

-I now have the option to either extend my thesis timeline or find a new project and supervisor since all classes are canceled.
Being able to weasel out of something is always a plus for a Gemini sun.

-There's no crowds and everything around me is going for a discount.

They'll have the virus under control by summertime and all hotels, restaurants and etc. will be offering deep discounts to get the crowds back.

There's a risk it will start up again in autumn around October..but that block around Aug - Sep sounds like "Bargain Basement" month.

I see the bright side in all of this..

This is also true. In Sweden they are GIVING away cable tv for 1 year (quite costly here) and there are many other “perks” if that’s how One wants to look at it

Today I had to buy something for our company and the moron in register was literally spraying everything around him with some alcohol everytime he or a customer touched something. The registers (there are 4 of them) were barricaded by carts filled with items so customers wanting to pay couldn’t reach the card terminals. Instead they had extended cables on them and THREW terminals across carts, to customer. I was like really?! REALLY??!!!

I have been, as well. And I’m at home a lot. Library fees aren’t due as long as the library is closed.

But I’m finding it more depressing. I wake up every day, and then remember that nobody is supposed to leave the house now, in case we accidentally kill each other with a virus. It’s all surreal. I need to try to sleep a bit more - only slept a few hours, and that was interrupted. My dad has to be out there all week. He doesn’t get a break, and could get sick.

Geminis often are very AWARE of germs and usually practice a lot of mindfulness around this! I have noticed this pattern with geminis.

Is funny bc virgo gets the rap for been this way but I have not noticed this pattern in Virgos, we are an earth sign after all and are not afraid of getting dirty even if we are preppy and like to shower. I think is super cute though that geminis are like this.

As a virgo I don't stress about germs.

@ Hypatia

In transit
Asteroid Hygenia 10 is in gemini now.
It's making it's rtn in my chart (6h) now too.
I've  been trying to tidy up and be more
organized. Thinking of better ways of doing so anyway. Not Tony Monk style,b however with my natal placement of this energy, maybe that's my Ocd. lol
As for illness, Hygenia is sextile 0 Chiron, and Tr Neptune is quintile it by 0. Which makes addiction easily avoided. These are not easy times. Much to all LL and their loved ones (as well every living being).

My heart is sad for all. May this soon turn around with less loss than most are speculating. ♡

I was really burn out last night and found out at work we are moving to remote therapy for a few weeks and I was not in my happy go lucky mood, I had trouble processing this shift but I have accepted it today, yesterday was an emotionally stressful day, I feel good again today.

That been said my last post I wrote yesterday I feel I was venting, it was more like a diary entry were I was letting out my shadow side and stress of the day.

I have thought about it more and this article http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/coronavirus-vs-the-f lu-the-difference-between-a-1-and-0-1-fatality-rate-is-huge/ explains why people are reacting to Coronavirus the way they are globally and taking it very seriously, for some this may feel like is over-reacting but there is a reason why all these precautions are been taken and this article does a decent job explaining why Coronavirus is different from the FLUE and needs to be taken more seriously without panicking either though. I do feel all these precautions been taken will make a big difference, I think bc of the media and knowledge we have now, we are able to learn from say the SPANISH FLUE and do things better this time and safe a lot more lives. I think ultimately is a good sign we are taking this seriously and I think by May the latest all the restrictions will be lifted and things will start to normalize again and the stock market will recover before the end of the year is my guess.

Here is the article....

Coronavirus vs. the Flu: The Difference Between a 1% and 0.1% Fatality Rate Is Huge

In congressional testimony this week, Dr. Anthony Fauci, one of the top medical experts in the Trump administration, said that the new coronavirus “is ten times more lethal than the seasonal flu.”

On his radio show Wednesday, Rush Limbaugh was outraged that media reports focused on Fauci’s comparison between the coronavirus’s 1 percent fatality rate and the seasonal flu’s 0.1 percent fatality rate. Fauci also noted that the coronavirus’s fatality rate is much lower than what has been reported by the World Health Organization. The 3 percent fatality rate cited by WHO, said Fauci, does not account for many minimally symptomatic and asymptomatic cases.

And that’s the real story, Limbaugh said on his program:

Ten times more lethal? Lethal than what? What does “lethal” mean? Does lethal kill you? Does lethal infect you? Does lethal give you a temperature of 102 versus 100? What does it do to you? It’s a meaningless comparative. Ten times more lethal? The only thing worth knowing in this story is that Anthony Fauci says the fatality rate to coronavirus is much less than what they believed.

It is 1 percent. It is not between 3 and 6 percent, and that number, 3 percent and 6 percent, has been out there for a couple of weeks.

To answer Limbaugh’s question — What does “ten times more lethal” mean? — the math is simple. If 40 million Americans get the seasonal flu, a 0.1 percent fatality rate means 40,000 deaths. If 40 million Americans get the new coronavirus, a 1 percent fatality rate means 400,000 deaths.

So the difference between a 0.1 percent and a 1.0 percent fatality rate could be 360,000 dead Americans.

Emphasis on could be. Fauci was directly asked during his congressional testimony how many Americans will get the coronavirus and how many will die. “It is going to be totally dependent on how we respond to it. So, I can’t give you a number,” Fauci replied. “If we are complacent and don’t do really aggressive containment and mitigation, the number could go way up . . . many, many millions.”

The difference in fatality rates explains why extreme measures are being taken to combat the coronavirus but not the seasonal flu. As Justin Fox reported at Bloomberg:

Influenza can’t be controlled because as much as half the transmission of the disease occurs before symptoms appear. With Covid-19 that proportion seems to be lower, meaning that even though it’s more contagious than influenza once symptoms appear, it may be possible to control by testing widely and quickly isolating those who have the disease. This is one reason (there are others) the WHO’s Tedros won’t call it a pandemic. “The threat of a pandemic has become very real,” he said Monday. “But it would be the first pandemic in history that could be controlled.” H1N1 [swine flu] couldn’t be controlled in 2009, but was mild enough that this did not lead to disaster. Covid-19 is a much more dangerous disease that maybe, just maybe, can be stopped.

Exponential growth of some diseases means that the number of Americans infected can multiply from a single case to 60 million in a year, as was the case with the H1N1 swine flu in 2009. (The swine flu had a fatality rate of only 0.02 percent, so only 12,500 Americans died.)

Yet many opposed to the “social distancing” measures being imposed right now in America don’t even acknowledge how much higher the fatality rate of the new coronavirus is than that of the flu.

For example, Heather Mac Donald writes at The New Criterion: “There were 34,200 deaths in the United States during the 2018–19 influenza season, estimates the cdc. We did not shut down public events and institutions to try to slow the spread of the flu.”

Those who suggest that the coronavirus presents no greater threat than does the seasonal flu need to answer some questions:

Why are Italian hospitals being overrun with Covid-19 patients, and why doesn’t that happen with the seasonal flu? Why can’t that happen here?

Why are the Iranians digging mass graves that are visible from outer space?

Why did Communist China — a regime that cares much more about national strength than about human life — shut down factories and bring its economy to the brink of recession in an effort to contain the spread of the virus?

Why did Japan announce a month-long closure of all schools two weeks ago, when there were only four coronavirus deaths in the entire country?
Are we supposed to believe that the Japanese, South Koreans, and Chinese are panicky idiots who don’t understand math and science?

We don’t have to rely on (positive!) national stereotypes to grasp the size of the threat, of course. We Americans can do the elementary math ourselves. If tens of millions of Americans get a disease with a 1 percent fatality rate, it would be a national catastrophe.

I think all candidates for President2020 should begin focusing and hammering on their message/plan/whatever for COVID-19. Whoever has the most trust and confidence behind them re: this national health/safety/pandemic stuff I'm sure will win the majority of votes (overwhelmingly so, so it's not going to be another Hillary/Trump thing where Hillary got the majority of votes), if this COVID-19 crisis extends without an inarguable sign of improvement.

SF Bay Area is now under home quarantine basically, and I read LA County was eyeing the same course. That's pretty much all of California, one of the entire world's largest economies (i.e. toooons of inidividual persons, who also have a tremendous worldwide influence/impact). People can't work -> can't pay their bills -> ???+gonna stop caring about everything that is not relevant to keeping a roof over their head and bellies fed.

I could ask why Doctors Without Borders are working with people sick from it and the vast majority of them are not getting sick (though they complain of people buying up masks that do others little good but vital to health care workers as themselves), and urge calm and community-minded behavior (avoiding selfish and panicking behaviors) with common sense measures, and yet they're not dying. While I no longer get the reports, what I have gotten is that they seem to be doing well enough in Hong Kong (haven't checked on how their efforts in Iran are working out yet).

And statistics are a tricky thing, they can be misleading even when not trying to be. Differences between nations also greatly affect the results (which is why so many died of Ebola in Africa, but barely affected the United States because of how different the situation is, including in health care and general health...speaking of which, if isolating one's self for a long period of time, best to avoid too much sugar, get enough sleep, and some exercise or it might do more harm than good, even when this becomes history!).

Of course care should be taken, but selfish and panicking behaviors should be avoided, and not allow others to exploit them for selfish and political ends. That's something plenty of doctors have said, by the way, including those who are treating the sick and dying in foreign lands.

If I go camping (not by myself) I'll be a lot more worried about intoxicated drivers (which the panic will probably make more of) than the disease itself. 'Course I don't know anything for certain since even health officials don't really know for sure how it's going to play out yet.

Ebola Mutated into a less dangerous strain and this is why it didn't affect us but like I mentioned in other threads I do feel the Chinese population have compromised lungs and immunological systems bc of pollution and Italy has a large elderly population so yes there are variables that can impact how each country is affected, also Italy did not prepare well. We are responding more proactively learning from Italy and China, this will also play a role and impact that statistics.

We are going to be okay, this is about not flooding the hospitals. Italy is making hard decisions about not treating their elderly bc they have so many people to treat and we are doing everything we can to not have to be in a position were we have to make a decision like that so I am glad. You care a lot about the elderly, well all this prevention is basically to protect them so the hospitals don't get over flooded and we end up having to treat younger people first before the elderly like Italy is been forced to do and that CANNOT be easy for Italians as they love the elderly even more than us and is a super family centered culture with extremely strong family values.

I am pretty sure Harvey Weinstein has Mars on his ascendant.

Mars is considered a malefic in traditional astrology. On the ascendant, it can make someone bullish and likely to run roughshod over others. Great qualities if you are a competitive athlete. Not so great for those under you if you are a man with any kind of power.

That is your opinion, we have different opinions on this, I think this is why he made it and Hillary with mars in leo square saturn did not, her saturn is actually afflicted indeed, his is strengthen by been on the AC on REGULUS to top it off, its my opinion it makes him a warrior who fights for what he wants, sticks to his guns, persists, makes him not back down and makes him deliver. It also makes him straight up/direct with that added moon in saggy.

Mars in Leo in the AC with chart ruler sun in GEMINI is also why he wrote a book titled "the art of the deal."

I thought when it comes to fixed stars, the conjunction has to be exact and if not, then it is the fixed star closest to the planet that really defines it.

Regulus was at 29 degrees Leo. Trump's Mars is at 26.47 degrees, that puts it closer to Alphard, Adhafera and Al Jabhah, (all three at 27 degrees).
___________________________________

24°15 Leo - Subra: Strength; plunder; swagger; yet simple and without guile. Unfortunate; Saturn/ Mars
___________________________________

27°08 Leo - *Alphard: Gives wisdom, musical and artistic appreciation, knowledge of human nature, strong passions, lack of self control, immorality. Sudden death by poison or drowning. Problems with law, love affairs, drugs. Fortunate; Saturn/Venus
___________________________________

27°34 Leo - Adhafera: Crime, lying and stealing, suicide. Unfortunate; Saturn/ Mercury
___________________________________

27°41 Leo - *Al Jabhah: Wealth, sound judgement, cleverness, prone to violence, self-seeking, danger, loss, mutiny. Neutral; Saturn/ Mercury

ETA: Weinstein's Mars is at 18.18 of Scorpio. The closest fixed star is Serpentis.

Interpretation of Serpentis:
19°00 Scorpio - Serpentis (the "Accursed Degree"): A malefic degree, tragedy, misfortune, the "Accursed Degree". This degree does not precess; Unfortunate; Mars/ Saturn

Now we know enough to know comparisons of SARS-CoV-2 to any other contagion in our lifetimes is unwarranted. This is the most contagious virus we've ever faced. THAT is why it is so severe, not the death rate. It is time to understand the math and practice social distancing.

Hey Belage,

I mean that his AC in LEO is at 29 degrees Right on REGULUS and then his Mars conjuncts that. I mean he wrote a book, had his own TV show, has been in a movie and is president and the MEDIA is obsessed with him, his AC on Regulus really fits and then mars conjuncts that.

Is more contagious and the death rate is 10 times higher like this article I posted breaks it down:

"It is 1 percent.

So the difference between a 0.1 percent and a 1.0 percent fatality rate could be 360,000 dead Americans."

BUT is mostly people who are 60 and up that end up dying from it so older adults, elderly and people with pre-existing health conditions are more at risk.

I'm closing this thread as it is spreading misinformation and speculation about the spread of SARS-CoV-2.

I will close any thread in Astrology 2 engaging in any more such speculation or spread of misinformation.

Stick to astrology.

Get your information on this pandemic from the CDC, from local medical and health professionals and from your own qualified health practitioner as to what you personally should do.

I agree with Kannon. There’s not much Astrology in this thread. The content is also controversial. However, it is helping people to vent and to process emotions over world events, so in light of free expression, I am going to move it to GU.
