Virgos can concern themselves with the most ridiculous shallow things and be turned off by it which is why i included them not because they are so materialistic and the biggest gold diggers i have ever seen are among Caps and Taurus sorry to say. If you are so naive and think i think every person with Earth in their chart is like this then get out of my thread please and stop wasting my time because you can’t face the negative side of this element. I have CHOSEN to talk about the negative side of Earth and wanted someone to explain to me why this Element isn’t considered shallow sometimes. But people on LL really do have a hard time facing the negative sides of things. It’s so tiresome

To know what is shallow you need to compare it with something what is considering to be the deep to see the difference that’s why I keep mentioning water here.

Taurus could be materialistic, but it’s not necessary a gold- digger, more comfort lovers. I don’t see them as somebody who would stay with a partner for money and tolerate one they don’t like.
I think Capricorn is more likely to do that.
They’re more a type who might divorce somebody for money.
They could stay because they’re good and comfortable in relationships, but if a partner starts to bug them much, and becoming uncomfortable, and not giving much attention, they’re leaving. I saw it couple times. They need to get their way.
As Taurus is fixed and earth so it’s probably the most unadjustable sign. They could be interested in somebody because of a good car, but they also could leave because of some dispute. They often don’t understand relationships need compromises.
Again, it’s depending on charts how stubborn and fixed they are, not one placement.

Have you heard about 5 languages of love. Different signs show their love differently that’s why misunderstandings.
I think actions speak louder then words. So I need security in actions. Like I felt water people had something for me, but the actions showed the opposite. It could be games as water do or I could be mistaken and delusional so I need materialistic proofs.
Fire is more straightforward it’s easier to get them, but they could be inconsistent.

Also, Virgo could be concerned with ridiculous things, but they’re often stable and staying around. That’s why people say they’re critical partners because they try to improve, not dump people.

What makes air "shallow" is the inability to be consistent. This especially in Lib/Gem. These energies can change to accommodate the context they are in. So it tends to give them a reputation of being "flaky".

**BOOM** 🔥🔥

This is exactly it. Well stated.

As a Taurus Venus - I mean what I say. I will not commit to a Man who is a bum, who is disrespectful or who is passive & lacking in Masculinity. It's a ~HELL NO~ from me and I'm not sorry about it. I don't care how sexy or handsome you are - I appreciate you letting me ride your face Mr Adonis... but it's time for you to leave! 😂 See ya next time Babycakes!

And what you shared about Libra & Gemini is often accurate as well. 👍🏾 I do enjoy them but I can't f**k with them long-term at all. That "flaky" shyt is a deal-breaker. I prefer reliable Men.

That’s what drives me mad when somebody say they never ever said something before. Especially,Gemini. Moreover, start to put their words in my mouth. Happened very often. I threatened to start recording conversations with one because I have Virgo and usually remember words, (might be even grammar mistakes you did when you said it 😆 ) and I don’t like that.

I don’t do this, but I literally had a Libra do this to me recently.

I’ve also had people tell me that I’m obviously feeling some way, that I wasn’t feeling at all. My sister did this a lot. She also outright denied things that more than one person knew were true. She’s a cappy.

I understand what you are saying Librapurr and you come with some good points here explaining the reasons behind their actions and i have witness some of that myself coming from them but some are not like that at all and have straight up just been with someone for their money and possessions without any love behind it both Taurus and Cap types. And Virgos can be so caught up in unimportant shallow things that it’s sometimes annoying talking with them about something personal and they are there just focusing on that pimple you have on your forehead. But anyways I just wanted to know why Earth wasn’t seen as shallow because in my opinion they can come off very shallow. Yes i have heard about the 5 different languages my friend actually mentioned this the other day and we were talking about it that is true that we show love differently and need it in different ways.

I'll add something here that is easy for me to forget being such an earther myself.

Earth types are manifesters. I don't mean that they talk a lot about 'manifesting.' I mean they are results oriented and are into bringing things into materiality.

Often, what happens is that earlier in life some are more materialistic, find some success, or at least learn more about how to interface with the economics and use their personal power to engage with it. Later they broaden their perspective to include others and interests or issues outside their realm of personal interest/success.

That said, people of whatever signs who are persistently, shallowly materialistic are revealing where they are with soul growth, a perspective on inter-connectedness and the web of lfie.

My son has moon in Virgo opposite sun in Pisces, and Pluto in Capricorn in the 1st. He loves to build things, and he definitely gets deeply attached to certain material possessions. One day last week he had a total meltdown and almost refused to leave the house when the zipper broke on his favorite hoodie.

This is what I have been thinking the whole time reading this thread. Each person is on their own journey, and we don't know where they are in their own soul evolution. Perhaps your perception of their lack of depth is the type of people you are attracting to you, and them being in your life somehow serves a purpose for your soul growth as well as their own?

It's also the society, especially (but not exclusively) the United States where it's a lot more intense and naked compared to many other nations (and even those who could be seen as worse are often funded by US Government and charities, all which go into the private coffers of its leaders even when it becomes a public health risk that could spread to other parts of the world, as long as corporations get to move in and operate by their own rules, or at least not side with someone the US considers an enemy).

Marketing even promotes them as stimulating the country, and thus patriotic (thinking of others and the "big picture").

I heard a lot of "it's as easy to fall in love with someone rich as someone poor." Meaning to marry up (and insecure guys to marry down, though she may be a gold digger). Many want their daughters to marry a doctor or lawyer, not because this means they're good people, but because they make plenty (preferably a lot) of money. If it's some social activist volunteering with Doctors Without Border or some charity action committee, then that's not the kind of doctor or lawyer talked about. (Many would also like to see their son become a doctor or lawyer, but in it for the money.)

I knew the members of a school board and a library board. Every single one of them, save one (that I could tell), had an ulterior motive (typically materialistic, such as agreeing to purchase something not in the best interest of the school or library, or at least at inflated prices, for personal gain, though a few other types of ulterior motives were also present). The one exception was a Capricorn sun (don't know anything else about his chart), but maybe it's because his grandson went to that school, he was more about knocking others down rather than defending the integrity of the school budget, or old age had mellowed him...I like to think positive about him (but I didn't know him that well), but if even he was rotten as the rest...well as they say, hate the Game, not the player.

Success is measured in toys and bank accounts, and a great many see do-gooders as stupid or doormats (though plenty can prove otherwise, just as many out for themselves and whatever cheap status they can get can grovel and ***** themselves out for it at every opportunity).

A lot talk about how obsessed teens are with their looks, fashion, status, possessions...but that describes a great many people of all ages (just as some teens defy this stereotype).

Heck, even "prosperity theology" (where God will make you rich according to the scammers) want "seed money" (to "prove you believe") and that the more you give, the more you will receive (but not to a charity, to that specific preacher, though I've heard homeless people try to use this line as well). Even outside that particular theology will have sayings along the lines of the more you give to the church donation plate, the bigger your mansion in Heaven.

How can you be shallow when you're playing by the rules and expectations set before you by society? (Rhetorical question.) Though plenty will see it for the trap that it is, they'll still play along, because the alternative is worse (especially if they're responsible for others), and those who don't, well those are generally held with contempt as hippies or some such, slobs (even if they're not) if they don't keep up with the Jones, or even spat on if they're homeless, saying something must be deeply wrong with them (though I'd say many of the personality disorders and drug addictions that can be found among them are found at all levels of society, including at the very top).

When society is like that, then those who are materialistic are seen as realistic and even responsible. I don't think this is restricted to earth signs by any means, though the exact motivations for embracing materialism may possibly vary by element.

Within each sun sign there is a very wide range of people from superficial to deep. And that applies to every element.

Considered alone without regard to its human representatives, the element of Earth is the deepest, all-inclusive element. Within Earth are all the other elements: fire (volcanoes, lava, magma chambers), air of course, and water (aquaducts, cavern lakes, underground springs, and the oceans themselves).

Earth brings unrevealed depth. Air is largely above the surface, but of course extends out into space. So we don't want to make Air a purely shallow element. The Air mode of expression tends to be relational, thus social in awareness and too concerned about appearances.

These are only general tendencies that have to do with how mature a person is within the range of expression in that sign/element.

@sleepydiary

I completely understand your question and I am mostly water and earth.

Perchance the term is not shallow for earth signs but superficial?
If I had to choose, earth signs or some people with earth placements can be superficial as opposed to shallow.
On the other hand, air signs are more likely to be described as being shallow.

I see shallow as lacking depth, which is usually assigned to air and fire signs.

And then, I see what you are describing as superficial. That is, people who are overly materialistic and judgmental, etc.

Wonderful points.
People in the US deem materialistic people as 'making it' and successful, regardless of how they got there. So, for some earth signs or people who have earth placements who are often into 'status', then they will obviously feel at home playing the game and be deemed as darlings for doing so.

Speaking as someone who's parents wanted them to marry up, it wasn't for the money per se... it was about never having to want. It's about security. So that could point to the argument of superficiality versus shallowness. There's more depth to the idea of marrying up than at first perceived.

We all want to be ok, and I don't think it's wrong to want the best for our kids. That said, I do absolutely think we have forgotten what constitutes "best."
