.....when your typing on your computer in LindaLand. Why, because I'm nosy. Actually, I just find it interesting what people have in their immediate surroundings. It makes me able to picture you when you are talking.

If you use a laptop, tell me what is around you in the place you use it most frequently.
If you use your computer at work, what is on your desk, you can tell alot about a person by what is on their desk. lol.

If you use your phone, I don't know how you would go about this...

I use my home computer the most. I can see better on it then on the laptop. Laptop gives me a headache.

So......I see a basket with pens, pencils and a trillion post-its of stuff I'm supposed to be remembering.
I see a largish glass container with a collection of drumsticks in it. I drum along with music videos while on myspace. It drives everyone in the house crazy, so they got me a leather footstool, that way the drumming is muffled. Muffled drumming is better then no drumming, I guess.
I have a Scorpio drink coaster.
A statue of the Virgin Mary that belonged to my Grandmother, and some small photos.

What do you see?

my computer sits on a really awesome antique wooden table that my old neighbours/landlords gave me. the wood is stained dark and all crackley and wearing thin in some places. i love it. there's a super old bendy-neck green lamp beside my computer that i found walking up the street in a free box. it buzzes really loudly so i hardly use it. a giant joystick from the 80s that my neighbour who's moving gave me, as well as a cool looking microphone that i don't have a soundcard for. some floss, my coffee. and behind my computer an imposingly red wall that i will someday paint sage green.

Okay, Woah, let's check my powers of deduction.

You sound like you have a great sense of humour.
You have a sentimental side to you.
You have a artistic eye.
You are either a recycler or enjoy a good bargain. How did I do?

O.K, empty fruit juice bottle, pizza crusts on a plate. I'll take that to the kitchen, shall I? O.K.

A snoozing cat to my right on the top of the sofa.

No traffic going past, a major accident has blocked off the road. It's eerily quiet.

My comp is in my "special" room, the one I can retreat to and shut out everyone else if I wanted back when others lived here anyway.

The walls all have blacklite posters, mostly of a fantastic bent (wizards, fairies, etc), the one by my computer being of Alice & the Caterpillar. In addition to a blacklight, I have a lava lamp and a "mushroom lamp" (made to look like one). I have a yin yang tapestry on the inside of my closet door (another blacklite on the outside of it of a unicorn galloping on a beach under a rainbow so when I admire my posters, I have it closed).

On the opposite side of my room which I normally don't look at when on the comp are some milk crates holding books I want to keep handy. Most other books are kept in a closet. I'm going to be moving in the near future so I'm kinda semi-packed right now.

I have my own "collage" on the wall at the head of my futon, a bunch of small stickers and collected illustrations that I glued on a poster board and would confuse almost anyone not into astrology as they seem to defy coherent sense when put together (an astrologer might figure I'm Libra who needs to balance my scales). The futon itself has a Strawberry Shortcake Blanket. On it are a Cthulhu plushie and Cthulhu slippers off to the side of it.

I have a CD player (and small CD storage rack by it) but it's not functioning well so I rarely use it anymore. Radio still works but I can't stand the commercials so I rarely play it.

The computer itself, which has been frankensteined from various components so it's not color cordinated, is on a small black table with a bottom shelf that holds the printer & printer paper on top. I have only one speaker, and it's pretty old & poor so I usually use headphones which are plugged into it now, the actual head piece on the CD player beside me (since it's not much good for anything else at this point).

I have no AC, so I leave the 2 windows open. The screens have holes in them so I can't do that at night. But I got a decent fan (about 2' by 2') during the Labor Dale sales, which I'll use at night. It's by the milk crate book shelf.

Okay, I'm sitting at a mahogany table and chair from ca. 1750. In the middle of the desk is my Macbook Pro. To the left of the laptop is my inkwell, quill pen and parchment. About 10 o'clock from my computer is cup of tea with a piece of scone. To the right is my pile of research books categorized by topic, author and title. Oh, and my dog is sitting to the right of my chair whacking his tail against the floor. Thoughts?

hmm, let's see, I think Blue Moon enjoys time alone and her "creature" comforts. I would say she's messy but she picked up the pizza so I cant say that.

Dervish, wow, I think you were born in the wrong era and should have been an adult in the 60's. I think your mind is at times full of conflicting thoughts and you seem to need alot of sensory imput to feel like your scales are balanced. You have a rich fantasy life.

Moonwitch, you are a very romantic person. I think you as well, enjoy your creature comforts and you also have a very inquisitive mind and like to know what is happening around you, and in the world in general.

ABC, I will do yours in a minute, I have to think on it a bit.

ABC

You seem to have traditional values and maybe you find yourself in conflict with the hustle and bustle of todays world. I think you are very sensitive, yet you are meticulous and factual. You are detail oriented.
Something makes me want to tell you this message, and I've been sitting on my hands trying not to, because you know, some people don't want strangers giving random messages....but I want to say, love is around you, right in front of your eyes, open them and see things clearly.

Moonwitch, the first time I looked at yours I only saw one pic not three. So I still stick with my initial feeling, but now I want to add that there is something very cancer-y about you. I do not remember your sun sign, but you don't seem like a Cancer sun, just something cancer-y about you.

You also seem like a light hearted, extroverted person who enjoys adventures.

Gypsee, my desk is a mess, first of all. Let's see--- some dubble bubble wrappers, two empty cans of diet coke, an ashtray, a bottle of bright purple nail polish (for my toes). The beginnings of a Gemini moon necklace I was making, but accidentally snapped the bail on. Two candles- one "fresh cut grass" scented and the other "fresh air" scented. A big old beer stein I use to hold my pens, pencils, scissors, pliers, etc. There's a pacifer hanging off one of the pens, heh.

My mousepad is from http://www.gigposters.com/ , a gift from DL whose work is featured there often. Taped to my monitor is a postcard a friend (Gem/Aquarius) made and sent me from Seattle. It's an Aries horoscope from Free Will Astrology, pasted over a picture of a little girl having a tea party with a bunch of monsters. It reads:

"ARIES [March 21–April 19] The 1906 earthquake that hit San Francisco also demolished downtown Santa Rosa, about 50 miles to the north. During the rebuilding process, Frank Doyle, a local businessman who referred to himself as a "champion of the future," pushed a radical agenda: "When we construct our new downtown thoroughfare," he said, "let's make it wider than it has been in the past. That way, it will accommodate the promising technological innovation called the automobile." Draw inspiration from Doyle's prescience, Aries. As you regenerate your world, do the equivalent of creating wider roads. Be a champion of the future."

It's pretty much the best advice anyone could ever give me, at basically all times.

Oh goodness, I'll have to take a picture. It is a bit cluttered.

I have a smallish modernistic corner desk. The metal posts and parts of it are painted grey. The wood is a MDF covered by a lightwood laminate. Directly above my computer monitor sits an oldish, small tv.

Sharing the platform with the tv are my spare ear bud tips (so I can know where they are if I need them). Next to that is my battery charger for my AA and AAA batteries (for camera and mp3 player). To the right of the tv are two music DVDs (Blur and Elbow) and a Quicken CD. Following right is a box of tacks that I haven't used since moving here.

There are little platforms for speakers to the sides of my monitor. A speaker and a glass candle holder share the space on both sides. No candles are currently in either pedestal. Actually, one's a broad pedestal, and the other is a heart-shaped tea light holder I got as a gift.

Desktop has, in addition to my monitor:

  • An aqua-colored plastic cup containing two white kazoos
  • A few CDs
  • Container of Cayenne Pepper
  • Morton's disposable Salt & Pepper shakers (we've been having an issue getting proper salt and pepper shakers/grinders set up in the kitchen, so this is my temporary fix whilst my Libra roommate figures out which pepper grinder and salt shaker she wants)
  • Two guitar picks, both thin; one red, one turtleshell
  • Package of AAA batteries I got at Christmas (unopened)
  • Two containers of contacts rewetting drops
  • A USB drive
  • Two checkbooks.
  • Post-It Note pads on top of a little note pad
  • Guitar tuner
  • Two red dice. One big, one small
  • Sharpie and RSVP pen (you know my pen deal)
  • Bamboo recorder (flute)
  • Sheet of thumbtacks
  • Blank CDs
  • Volume controller for my speakers
  • External sound card device that accomodates plugging my instruments in easier

To my left is my patio sliding door, which is hidden by hanging blinds.

To my right is an office piece. It's a matching wood laminate to the desk. It's got a filing drawer that has stuff in it, but which I don't really use a whole lot. In the cubby space above that drawer are my checkbook refills, envelopes, bank brochures, and super old cassette tapes that I have no means of playing. On the top of the furniture piece are a frosted white glass lamp from IKEA (It would be a cylinder with the light inside, but it's square-shaped), my old digital camera, my portable DVD player (which is only there because we didn't have tv for awhile when I moved in), a stack of old CDs, a two dollar bill, and a card from my ex.

Behind me is table my ex left me. My big (musical [Roland]) keyboard's on top of it. I've unfortunately used my keyboard as a table, and laid further crap on top of it (mostly art related). Underneath are some books and software stuff as well as my printer/scanner.

Crazy.

Aerial;

I think you are a very hands on, tactile type of person who is comfortable in leadership roles.
You have a very well developed sense of humour and lean towards sarcasm. lol.
I also think your senses are accute. You probably are the kind of person who smells something bad before anyone else does, and also your sense of smell has a direct link with your memories.

Dee;

For you I imagine a daydreamer type of person. You are very visual, stimulated by what you see. Your moods seem to reflect whatever your thoughts are at the time. I think you maybe tend to stress out a bit, and are inclined to want to escape..(that would be through daydreaming, watching dvds, and lol, wine.

AG;

Make me work, why don't ya...

You have an amazing eye for detail, which says alot about you in itself. You probably are an art lover and enjoy nice things, whether or not you own them.
You are a practical person, and even though it sounds messy, I bet you know where something is when you want to find it. I think deep down you believe in the "everything in its place" theory.
You definately don't sweat the small stuff, and tend to let minor things go to attend to bigger issues.

All the musical stuff would be a duh for me, since I already know how you feel about that.

Dice AG? Your trying to throw me off, Ok, I take the challenge, I think you enjoy games of chance, and games in general, but I do not think you are into gambling.

You love gadgets and modern conviences, your best Christmas gift would probably be something electronic or a gift certificate to Radio Shack so you can pick it out yourself. You know what you would like to have next, you probably have a wish list in your head.

I think you have a bit more of a sentimental side then what people assume.

And I find it interesting that this is one of the longest things I've ever seen you write. You too, are interested in people and their environments. whew.

Quite right. People I've worked with have often imagined that I am meticulously clean at home.

I love gambling, but I hate losing money, so I don't do it for real all that often. The big red die was actually from a casino keychain. I removed the keychain part, though.

The dice are there for music making actually. I've devised a randomized system that will come up with chord progressions for me. I use the dice for making the random decisions.

Yup. Just ordered it last Sunday. I'm a little concerned it's not here yet. http://www.x-mini.com/
I got the X-mini II

Hi there, i will spare you hard work and tell you what i have in front of me. It's a wall. I am plonked on my bed cuddling my laptop, with my door shut, wishing the world to go away. I love being on my own, with my thoughts.
Thanks for thinking about me the other day,

One of my favorite novels is Summer of Love by Lisa Mason:
http://www.amazon.com/Summer-Love-Lisa-Mason/dp/0553572415

I really could see myself as very similar (though not exactly like) to the character Ruby, a pagan who ran an occult & herb shop in Frisco of 67.

Still, I wouldn't want to get thrown back in time (a visit would be ok...), as I'm to acclimated to today's electronic muse-ic.

I expect the culture shock would be pretty big, too, if I were to somehow wake up in that time given the way I sometimes dress, my athletic hobbies, etc.

Gods...I know people who were active back then, and I'd be tempted to meet up with them, possibly altering their lives. Like I'd pay a visit to that commune my granny was at (with my mom a little girl) and probably end up kicking some hippie butt. Who knows, maybe I could radically change its nature by doing so and the commune might be functioning today instead of failing miserably in the early 70s (with a lot of bitterness over the really bad decisions made & infuriating hypocrisy practiced by its self-proclaimed elites as happened). 'Course then I'd have to worry about how I affected myself, Back to the Future style...

And now I'm trying to imagine growing up back then so I'd be my age now at say 1969, and it's just so hard...so much was different then.
