An Irish friend of mine used the term 'toss pot' not too long ago, and I nearly fell over laughing IP: Logged |

tosspot - slightly different than tosser - coincidentally rhymes with another of its meanings...sot. apparently its usage predates shakespeare: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tosspot i have also heard it used to refer to the garbage can... another valuable piece of information if not vocabulary! I have a serious question because I have been trying to figure out who the supposed Godzala censors are. The only ones who can censor are Randall and mods only of the forum(s) they moderate. I for example cannot censor anything at LLC2. So who were the censors you folks go on about? What am I missing here? And where is anything censored? IP: Logged |

not so much censored as caged, really, lexx...a few people were offended by the humour here, and the pictures of men etc, and insisted that there be "less" of godzala, ie, a cap on how many threads and how many pages...ironic. somehow it seems it was impossible for those who did not enjoy to stay away and so protective measures had to be taken. kind of killed the fun for awhile and made people feel unwelcome. as to who, well ironically the most vociferous were those who are now complaining that others aren't being nice to them. Yeah, the members were stifled more than anything, and as a result LL lost something that brought people together.IP: Logged |

OK..... I must have missed more than I thought because I have seen folks saying they were censored, stifled, policed, and so forth.... but when? What? How? Things seemed to be going pretty wild and crazy, silly, and uncensored, and still is! So what did I miss? Additionally, and please, I am not trying to offend....just making a point.... quote: Yeah, the members were stifled more than anything,
Like I said...when was anyone stifled or censored? quote: and as a result LL lost something that brought people together.
In the broad scope, did/does it really do that in high numbers? I mean there are how many members at LL yet it seems to me on a scanning of the many versions of Godzala, that yes, it brought folks together, but mostly only a very small percentage from what I saw, and mostly the same people, not a high percentage of random members. And it all did/does seem like a club, and I never felt completely comfortable posting, trying to join in, because it just felt like I was party crashing when I did. I know other folks felt the same and told me so. They were not the censors or stiflers either. I felt like my being a moderator made some folks paranoid of me, even though I had/have no power over this forum.------------------ Everyone is a teacher... Everyone is a student... There was a strong flavour of Australian humour that wasn't understood.Puns, corniness and plays on language..... .....maybe the world is still stuck in humour that involves sarcasm and screaming at each other like stupid toss pots. For anyone to enjoy Australian humour and be able to respond in kind is really quite a blast IP: Logged |

*** I don't know what the big deal was about this thread -** ditto ..i always saw it as aussie humor .. don't know why some freaked out cause it ain't ( supposedly ) in the Linda Goodman spirit .. ( actually i do 'cause i know what going on in their chart(s) .. ) it's more about Them .. than LindaLand .. IP: Logged |

This is what killed it. ^^ Everyone was welcome to play in Godzala.
If it was not to your taste then why go there? There are several forums that I do not read/participate in because it's not my cup of tea. I don't go around telling everyone how much I hate it or think it's silly or arrogant or facetious. I show self control by staying away from what I don't want to be a part of, which makes my LindaLand experience a pleasant one for the most part.
Why is self control so hard to come by? IP: Logged |

OMG HD I'm torn between horror & disbelief.
I was going to ask what 'dogging' meant but I thought I'd read the link first. Let me just say that I have been educated, lol. I'm so naive at times. IP: Logged |

I think that what they are trying to say is that Godzala had no bearing on anything to do with Lindaland or any of Linda Goodmans writings, which essentially is what the site is for.Otherwise what is the point of it? Yes I know that particular forum is supposed to be a free for all but actually it was anything but. I did find it cliquey so fair play I didn't bother with it. And I had no issue with one thread but they did start springing up all over the place and the flavour of the site changed dramatically. You only have to look at the Oranges and H forum to realise that it is the least visited and commented on and yet it is probably the nearest to what Linda Goodman was about. And at the time it was at it's height I did drift off myself. Not because I have no sense of humour. Or that I don't find the male form appealing...except Gerard Butler....who is beginning to look more and more debauched as time goes on...to quote somebody "He'd sh@g a tree if it had lipstick on it" But I digress. I personally think that as the site is called Lindaland and it's essentially about Linda Goodman and her teachings then it should have a link however tenuous to that subject. But that's just me... And I've read this back and it sounds badly written and I haven't put my case across well at all but maybe it's because I can't be ars@d (English version!) and I sense yet another row brewing.IP: Logged |
