I just gave a link so people would know where I was talking about without me having to explain it. As for why it's because the people there tend to be nicer and sometimes more interesting (many go to the rural regions there to drop off the radar). It also includes some of the most beautiful wilderness regions as well as brush, caves I explored, and places such as Mt. Shasta and Crater Lake. Should anyone go out there to explore the wilder regions (like climbing or hiking Mt. Shasta), be aware that cell phones don't always work if you get in trouble out there, and while rare, trouble can come from animals, the environment, and, of course, people. IP: Logged |

dervish i know whereof you speak and i agree. though i like the whole of oregon minus a few nasty industrially wasted spots, and they are fewer than most comparable areas for sure. and the northern oregon coast can't be beat...IP: Logged |

oh - I am loving this thread - thanks YinNZ is at the top of my list too - I just wouldn't know where to start! I have had a small unexpected windfall, so I am going to book the ranch holiday in the States that I have been promising my daughter. I have narrowed it down to one in Colorado, one in Oregon, the other is in Canada - so you may be prompting a decision for me here. I tend to be a bit impulsive when it comes to travel - it's what I spend my spare money on - I get something in my head and I go and do it. I am worried I'll die tomorrow. But NZ is just too far away to be impulsive! Thailand has my attention, but not the place for a mum and small child travelling on their own. Rome, Italy - tried to make it there once and the car broke down. I think I am fated to go back with someone else one day. CPN - I have driven the road above that village - truly truly scary! oh - and CPN - you can drop in on me on your way to Scotland. We have plenty of room, and it's a truly beautiful island - west of England, east of Ireland, south of Scotland and north of Wales!!IP: Logged |
