...and remove the edit function. I'm thinking it might cause people to be more thoughtful when addressing others. Just a trial to see how it goes.------------------ "Never mentally imagine for another that which you would not want to experience for yourself, since the mental image you send out inevitably comes back to you." I'm one of those people who are very quick to jump the gun and post although I have gotten better over the years. I value spontaneity and don't have time to think out a long post and then make it look perfect on the page. Also, English is not my first language and I make a lot of typos and grammar mistakes that will bug the hell out of me if I couldn't fix them. A policy like that will force me to post even less. I don't know whether you were looking for feedback or not, Randall, but this is my 2 cents.Already editing... It's good to give people a chance to correct themselves too. Some of us go back and read what we've said in the heat of the moment, feel bad and then delete or edit it. It's an opportunity for redemption. IP: Logged |

What Yin said.& I think you will notice people will be less inclined to post here. Post anything of substance, or trials they are going through or cry out for help if they know it will be etched on LL's walls forever. Rather than people thinking more before they post, I think you will find many people not posting at all. It might be a great way to get spontaneous posters, or those that tend to delete things a lot, to stop posting on the site though! IP: Logged |

English is my first language and I do the same thing... but it would force me to post more, double post to add or fix things in my previous post. lol ------------------ Felines and dames in flames Will hardly serve my aims But in my dreams, it seems That my eyes are always shooting laser beams IP: Logged |

Also, people often find they think or feel differently than they did at one point in time and would like to delete that "energy" of their words from the boards. There are countless number of reasons why one might want to delete their own post. But one thing I don't like is that there are people here that will go back and search through the board, just to find something you said 6 years ago and try to hold you to it. Or think that because you said something once, that must mean you feel and think the same way now. I've seen numerous times when someone came up with a list of threads to use to attack someone. Almost like they had a folder for the person and saved any post or thread that they may someday be able to use against them.

Please don't. People post very personal things here, that they might want to edit out. I know that I want to edit a few personal things.IP: Logged |

Also, I hardly ever delete anything in which I've regretted what I said to someone here - I let that stay. Things involving family, friends, partners... too much to stay. IP: Logged |

Yes, and for all the Linda fans, it's similar to the advice she gave by saying "CANCEL" after a negative thought or words. Remember? IP: Logged |

The boards already suffer terrible with glitchiness, a no edit function will make things unbelievable cumbersome... Hell no... The amount Ive times Ive had to re-edit a post because tags randomly fail... or grammar or whatever... A no edit function on a message board at this point in time, is like removing the wheel from society... ------------------ Proud Member of the Vatican Assassin Warlock Attack Squad! The people who abuse the Quote button are good enough. I've seen someone admit to using it just so the poster could not ever delete what they wrote. And the person does it repeatedly without saying so.Lei Kuei, I thought something similar.....what kind of board in this day and age does not allow posters to delete what they wrote if they want to? Anyway, I don't think Randall was being serious about it. IP: Logged |

I first heard that in a Silva Method course, around 1997/1998. "Cancel, cancel."

Yes glitches like just now... my replies are not posting. I will try a two part reply and if my previous post appears I want to be able to edit it out and or delete it. OK... on that note; posting a two part reply.

Grrrs....two part did not post so going for a three part reply.First re-posting what I posted on another thread about the edit function. quote: Originally posted by Randall: I guess this is Sand's way of saying goodbye. I can make it to where no one can edit their posts; it might make people more thoughtful about what they say to others.
Please do not do that. I would have to do all my posts in notepad and then copy and re-paste to post here. I make way too many errors of typing due to my one finger hunt and peck and always some level of vision troubles up to partial blindness. It would just take far too long to post if I had to wash everything through notepad first and then copy cut paste here. I would pretty much stop posting if I had to do that. And then no sense in staying either. I hope that made sense.PS. I do not do real time text chats much because I type so horribly. I appear retarded with all the typos. PS. Already found typos and had to edit this post. continued next post.............

I also use it to fix my Lexigram errors, yes I do make them. I would post very very very seldom if there were no edit function. I simply do not have time to wash every reply I post through a write program/spell checker and all before posting. I re-read and fix on the fly, and only wash through a write program if it is a long long post. I also use it to fix broken links, or to resize an overly large picture, or a screwed up quote or whatever. Please leave the edit function. PS. Every one of my replies on this thread required at least 1 to 5 edits/fixes.
