I want to try it. I don't know if I'll be able to pull it off. It just pains me how distracting it is, and how dependent I've become of it.. I just like to prove to myself that I can do it.

I don't mean being on vacation, in the middle of nowhere.. I mean doing my stuff like I always do but resisting temptation..

I don't think I am psychologically there yet, maybe another week or so.

How long can you guys go without it?

It's a great idea. I recently told a friend I'm thinking of going without it for a couple or even a few months. Not having it will help me buckle down and get the things I want to get done, done.

Not sure if I will do it for that long. I'm moving and don't plan on getting cable hooked up this time.

We shall see.

Good luck & let us know how it helps/changes life for you.

Exactly! It is v addictive and distracting for me! I know I wouldn't be able to cut it out completely from my life, but at least limit it to 2-3 hours/day.

I'd like to try at the end of this month, for 1 week and see after that.

I know I'm being selfish here, but I do hope you'll hook it because we'll miss you in here! At least from time to time!

Problem is I need it for my job, as much information is only given through emails.

But yes, it is a big "time-stealer" sometimes.

Hera, thanks

As much as I want to do that (not have it for awhile)....I think i'm going to have to keep it when I move. I do kind of need it atm and it is nice for downtime. But I thought....maybe I could just go without it for at least awhile, focus on more important things, and then get it turned on when I really need to use it.

But I think i'm stronger than that and don't need to have it completely off in order to not "slack off" on it.

Anyway, yes, i think forced breaks from it are a very good thing. I think of back in the day when barely anyone I knew even had a computer. Life was different back then. It is so easy to allow yourself to become distracted with it now. I don't like it.

So, thanks for starting the thread. You got me thinking about it again & i'll definitely be reducing time online for awhile now.

k. back to packing

I should do this, too. I've been fine when we've been without internet for a few days at a time, when AT&T messed up bill-wise, and we were cut off, but I also spend too much time with the TV and cable or DVD's. I've been taking books outside lately, even with the heat. I used to start my mornings out on the deck, before it got too hot, but for several years now, it's been more internet (since I started talking more on here), and cable (since the DVR, mostly, although I would record things on the VCR and snuggle in on hot or rainy mornings).

I can go forever without the internet. I don't feel like I need to go without it, though. Who do I have to prove myself to?
If I REALLY wanted to do something, wouldn't I be doing it? I enjoy reading and learning whats to be found, so for these reasons purely, I am fine with wherever I am-- whenever I am.

Yep, I actually got things done. I am too easily distracted - I've spent so much time on here reading, researching, reading about other people living their lives (when I was agoraphobic, and still, since I'm pretty stuck) - I feel so pathetic. I miss being more productive and disciplined.

I wonder how many of us, here in this thread are heavily Neptune influenced...?

Finding we enjoy or even sometimes need, the escape of the internet....

I've never played that game, MoonWitch. I seem to miss out on all of this Xbox and playstation stuff, too - but I suppose that's a good thing seeing as I don't want to leave it if I get into it. I used to play games whenever I felt depressed or anxious, until the bad feelings passed. I want a Wii, too.

T, I have Neptune trine MC and Jupiter, and it's in my second house. I'm watching "Signs" and just picked up The Psychic Pathway, that I've had since 2006, and first read in 2005 - because I can't find the book you sent me. All woo-woo stuff tonight. But I see what you mean - the escape. Books everywhere, radio shows, movies... I've never liked the idea of drugs and alcohol as escapes, because I'm either too much of a control freak, or just too easily interested in a lot of things out there whilst sober (or a little of both).

Oh, Mars in Pisces, too!

^ I love that!

I'm Neptunian, I think. Pisces moon, and then Neptune is conjunct Venus, trine Jupiter, sextile Mercury and Pluto.

I'm not religious but habitually go off the computer each Sunday. I get so much done every Sunday that I resolve to quit the internet altogether.

But here I am, as usual!
