I only got one pm from an admin once stating my sense of humor/behavior. was over the edge and I was put "on notice". I found the forum while researching the rules of plastic handicap signs that hang in vehicles for parking purposes for Granny. On the forum I mistyped "handicrappers" instead of handicappers.. With burning cheeks, I deleted my account and never looked back. Please, NO offense to the handicap. It was in error. ------------------ We dance around the ring and suppose, but the secret sits in the middle and Knows Robert Frost IP: Logged |

Ok forgive me here. What exactly is a troll?? Cuz I've seen the term here and there and I used to think it was someone who goes online and starts arguements with ppl and then I changed my mind and thought it was someone online who is 'in disguise' as in pretending to b someone else. Sooo what's the exact definition cuz my virgo mercury is killin me right now lolIP: Logged |

Trolls used to mean online brats (whatever their age) who tried getting under your skin. The difference between them and a flame warrior, someone with issues or otherwise having a tantrum is they did it as a power trip and/or because they find it funny. IOW, they're not as upset, angry, ignorant or bigoted or sexist as they pretend to be, it's an act (called “baiting” as in showing you a nice worm and hoping for nibbles) to get you to engage them and if they can make you have a melt down then it's like worth 50 points to them. There's even a website where trolls brag to each other and share tips on how to upset a community ("for the LULZ"). Here's what trolls used to do before the internet and had to use phones instead: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F-tRvzyoTD0 IP: Logged |

But “troll” has become such an effective word that it's getting abused to shame, dismiss, and/or control (as has happened to other words no one wanted to be slapped with) those who aren't trolls (at least not until the meaning expanded) and as the meaning becomes more and more fuzzy then it will probably end up meaning annoying anyone. Today I think the word has been expanded to include attention ****** , bullies, and those who make infantile threats due to a lack of maturity with perceived lack of consequences. One day the word "troll" will probably expand to include spammer, glurger, someone too needy, and finally anyone who doesn't automatically agree with what's being said (and when that day comes the real trolls will take full advantage of it to say things and dare anyone to disagree, it will be comedy gold to them).I personally like words to mean one thing and not another to make communication as clear as possible. Instead of expanding the word "troll" they should instead invent new words if needed. But most people have Humpty Dumpty's philosophy on definitions: "I don't know what you mean by 'glory,' " Alice said. Humpty Dumpty smiled contemptuously. "Of course you don't—till I tell you. I meant 'there's a nice knock-down argument for you!' " "But 'glory' doesn't mean 'a nice knock-down argument'," Alice objected. "When I use a word," Humpty Dumpty said, in rather a scornful tone, "it means just what I choose it to mean—neither more nor less." "The question is," said Alice, "whether you can make words mean so many different things." "The question is," said Humpty Dumpty, "which is to be master, that's all." --Lewis Carroll, Through the Looking Glass IP: Logged |

It's really easy for me to identify internet trolls thanks to yahooanswers. I've seen every type on there. What kills me are the ones who make multiple profiles to make whole community of trolls. You can't take trolls serious, besides there behind a computer screen anyways. The best thing like everyone said is to ignore and keep it going. They will eventually get bored and find somewhere else to go.-But I must say: Sometimes trolls are absolutely hilarious with some of the stupid or random things they do or say. The funniest trolls to me are "flooder trolls" people who constantly post the same thing over and over. I found myself crying with tears many times at the belligerence of their trolling tactics. As stated before, you can't take them serious so don't feed them and move on IP: Logged |

Oh, I didn't see this before. There is someone on another site, who really creeps me out with his posts. I don't know if he's serious, or just trying to wind people up. I now have him on "ignore", but that doesn't hide threads started, only posts. IP: Logged |

troll is kind of an irrelevant term because you could label anyone a troll if you really wanted to. i guess its all just a matter of perception. IP: Logged |

I found this fascinating! It's about the neurochemistry in some trolls, that is sometimes they don't really do it on purpose they're just more flawed than usual when it comes to thinking rationally and controlling their emotions: http://revision3.com/dnews/dnews-147-inside-the-brains-of-internet-trolls IP: Logged |
