C'mon, Elysia, they can't win every time! It would be so boring! Seeing fresh blood win makes it all more exciting and more fulfilling when the big teams win again. Ebb and flow, sort of.

They're still the World champions. Until next time.

I kid, I kid!

I'm glad in a way how things turned out. Germany was getting too mainstream. Starting to make me uncomfortable..

In the Olympics I'll also watch swimming for sure! It's one of my fave sports! I'll be taking a look at some track and field, too. It's likely that I get excited for team sports as well, basket ball, volley ball, water polo... you name it... What are your favorite sports?

Croatia was one of my (minor) faves. I was stunned when they beat Spain and they won me over, just like Iceland did when I heard they eliminated Netherlands from the qualifying matches. Normally people would hate the teams that beat their favourites, but they only won my respect for that. My favourites changed a lot from the beginning. I think many people fell in love with Iceland, though I also liked the Welsh. And Hungary, and Switzerland. IMO Shaqiri's goal is the best of this Euro, but people voted for Gera's. So it was sad to see them go after such a superb goal.

That's the schedule for the Olympics. I'll probably also watch running and fencing and I am curious about the pentathlon. Haven't seen one of those until now.

The sport I am currently into is swimming. If I get moderately good at it I am thinking of competing in a triathlon sometime in the next 10-15 years. It will take me THAT long lol.

This is just my opinion here, but I think it's not solely about winning. I mean, even at this Euro, there were a few teams that performed really well and won the public over (and I don't mean just Iceland) that ARE winners even though they haven't actually lifted the trophy.

I am on the fence with Germany because they seem (most of the times, to me at least) pretty detached, too calculated, a bit robotic. I guess sports played with heart and gusto are more to my Aries Mars's taste. I'm much more likely to root for a player who cries after he lost a game than for one that doesn't fully celebrate his victory. Maybe I just like to watch human emotion, I can never really get tired of it. And Germany is anything BUT emotional. So maybe we clash there, idk.

Oh yeah, I do agree with this - why do you think I kept supporting Arsenal my whole life? They almost do nothing *but* lose, lol. I love their (specifically Arsene's) philosophy of the game, their uncontested passion for it.

Although I disagree about Germany being unemotional part!! They're anything but that. Maybe on the surface. But theiry dynamics, how they're (on good days), so well connected on field to be almost *one* mind, one soul. That's just beautiful. In such times, they're truly a team, in the purest sense. Other teams (not all, just some) I can sense the internal competition that goes on, the selfishness that trickles in. That's a major turn off. This team is seamlessly *together*, most times (I am putting aside the glaring Lahm-Ballack controversy). The whole is greater than the sum of the parts - and that's the ultimate objective of a *team* sport. On days they achieve that, it's sheer perfection. *_*

I'm also an Arsenal fan, high five!! Never expected to meet another Arsenal fan here. I couldn't believe Arsenal fell behind in the title race last season, they totally crumbled in February. I ain't feeling optimistic at all about this season, unless Giroud starts running faster than Mertesacker.

Oh wow!! High-five indeed.
Man, the number of "fourth place" jokes I hear every day. Just, enough already. -_- They're not even true (as of this time's league tables).

Why do we always start off strong and finish so miserably?
And now Henry no longer coaching.

Poor Arsene..! All that football-integrity being put through hell, only to be sneered at by the likes of horrible José.

When did you start supporting them, btw?

P.S Giroud running faster than Daddy-long-legs? Spoken like a true frustrated gooner.

Those jokes used to irritate me, but these days I'm starting to find them funny. Yeah I was thinking the same thing yesterday when I came across one, "but they finished second", thanks to Tottenham. It's almost like they deliberately fall behind Arsenal, last season was hilarious. They're the only thing that's more funnier than Arsenal somehow f*cking it up in EPL, it's almost like it's written in the script that they're supposed to somehow slip up like Gerrard few inches before the finishing line and let Arsenal win the race. There was that season, in 2011 or 2012 I think, in which they f*cked up a 10 points gap, 10 freaking points! lmao! even with Bale in magical form at their side.

The Henry news surprised me, but if Zlatan's analysis of Wenger being a dictator holds any truth then it's not much of a surprise IMO. It's a good decision from one point of view, he criticised them in public as a pundit and coached them at the same time. It was like he was taking one step back and one step forward, choose one I say!! But with him being an Arsenal legend and all that, him quitting might affect the team negatively.

If one wants to win, Jose is the perfect coach IMO. If one wants to simply enjoy playing, then Arsene is the one. He's one stubborn old man though, keeps repeating the same mistake season after season, atleast make new mistakes -_- , makes me question his intelligence. And then he comes up with hiz trademark excuse "vee can take some pozitives from zis".

Around 200Arsenal, when I was in Arsenal grade I think. I was just switching channels when I came across Arsenal vs Liverpool. Liverpool took the lead through Michael Owen's goal, only to be completely demolished by Va Va Voom Thierry Henry who scored 3 or Ars...enough!...4. It was the only match I watched from that season, yes it was "that" season, the season of "The Invincibles".
I started watching them play from the next season, rest is history.... they've never won a league title ever since.

He's the slowest striker we've had, I couldn't believe he lost the ball when he was yards ahead of the last defender in that France vs Germany(sorry for reminding) match.

Natal, progressed one is 27 Gemini. About to do great things to my chart, in 1-2 years or so. Supposedly when I meet the love of my life. :/ Right.
Earth Venuses are my faves. Obviously because they trine or conjunct mine. But while they can be a bit understated, they're very sensual and usually faithful. Virgo Venus is my biggest weakness. Mars too. *sigh*

Well, I did say it was my impression, so it's totally subjective. I do agree that they seem more a team than other countries, less divided by egos and show-offs. Still, they put me off sometimes.

Swimming is love. Good luck with your goals! I am also training my technique. Not easy, phew, not at all!

Sometimes I wonder what makes a runner (or their coach) choose hurdles instead of just... running... it's tough with the hurdles, they're there all the time, so many and so often.

I see. Prog. one is four degrees ahead of my Moon. Which one will do what ? Hey do your prog. planets in Taurus conjunct your N. Moon. Lol I've met so many "love of my life" in my short time on Earth starting from my pretty kindergarden teacher(who passed away recently) whom I had a crush on when I was 4-5 years old, ( I guess I was an early bloomer) to this Leo Moon chick. One of my crushes got married few days ago, I even attended her wedding. I felt like a door closed on my face, I felt sad about it. So this is how life is when you are in your 20s. And then there's that Sag chick who recently asked me to marry her lol. I guess more of this sort of **** will come in my way.

Ahh Virgo Venus, that Leo Moon chick has it. And there are these pretty Libras that have it.
My best friend has Virgo Mars, thinks and analyzes a lot, almost makes me want to wave a hand infront of his face ask him "yo!! where are you? come back!". And then there's this Sag gal who has it, she's a good dancer. Both of them have graceful movements.
Sometimes I wonder if Leo Moon(Virgo Venus) chick is attracted to my best friend(Virgo Mars). Their Venus and Mars are few degrees apart. I wouldn't know whether to eliminate him or not, it would be a life/death decision for me. He's certainly to this Libra gal(Virgo Venus) who rejected him, she also rejected my next best friend who's a Cancer. She likes me and I would've taken things forward with her had my best friends not developed a huge crush on her. Things get damn complex when your best friends and your crushes are involved in a merry go round.

I hear ya. But, he made them what they are (were?). He's a bit of a control freak, and if anything doesn't go according to the beautiful intricate plan he has, it bothers him no end. It's like the classic tussle of academia with the 'real world'. He wants things 'just so', down to the depths like a science. But in reality, things are inevitably different. Certainly not quite half as idealistic as he wants.

I hope that doesn't come out the wrong way, I didn't mean it like that. I was actually thinking of starting another thread, maybe in Hearth and Home, where we can continue this topic. Staying on this thread is risky, we lost posts before, then it calmed, now they are lost again.. It messes up communication real bad.
