Sweet aqua guy, I didn't know that you had written something, otherwise I would have answered sooner. Of course, I would love to share with you some colognes I really like on men, but I will have to do it later today, as I am on a short break right now and I can't stay here much longer, ok?...

By the way, I just read this other thread of yours that is on today's topics. You have changed a lot since the last time I read of you. You seem much softer now and much closer to your heart and this definitely makes you less reactive and more balanced. It's so good that you have found someone who cares for you... I really wish everything goes very well between the two of you...

As I said, I like deep, intense, oriental notes. The truth is that I like very deep, very intense and very oriental notes. So. Here are some of my preferences. From Tom Ford and his Private Blend collection "Tuscan Leather". Black suede, leather, saffron. Raw. From the same collection "Ébene Fumé". Palo Santo smoke, ebony wood, leather. Sensual. From Van Cleef and & Arpels "Moonlight Patchouli". Bulgarian rose, patchouli, bergamot, leather. So earthy. Since we are talking about Yves Saint Laurent and "Kouros", ask to try out "Caftan". This is an expensive one, but if you try it out, you will definitely like it. Pink pepper, benzoin, bergamot. Warm, sexy. From his Oriental collection, you should also ask to try out "Sleek Suede". Black oud wood, tanned leather, cocoa beans. Very deep, very Arabic. From the same collection "Splendid Wood". Cardamom, incense, cedarwood. Amazing, very woody...

Thanks so much for your nice words and cologne suggestions. Those sound really nice. I'm especially interested in midnight patchouli, but I wonder if it might be too sweet for me. What do you think?

I think it suits you because patchouli and rose is a very contrasting combination, something that makes me feel that "it is right up your alley". Here, though, we are not talking about a polarizing scent, but rather of a very refined one with that idiosyncratic hint I feel you're looking for...

Women like a sweet smell on a man, hence the scent of PS.

I have been meaning to go to the cosmetics shop one of these days to buy some oil(s) that have finished and to ask for PS. I want to know how it smells like.

But Paul Sebastian somehow manages to be sweet and extremely masculine at the same time. It's one of a kind. Other sweet smells smell girly to me

It's cheap and widely available here in the United States. It has a classic masculine scent. Really really good stuff.

I do love the essence of rose. It reminds me of Orthodox church incense.

I smelled the original Azzaro Pour Homme that came out in 1978 for the first time at a fragrance outlet yesterday. Wow! Now, that is the kind of classic barbershop fougere men's fragrance that I love. It's very clean and masculine.

Azzaro! You bring back so many sweet and beautiful memories to me with these preferences of yours! I was sooo young, just a little girl, back then in this incredible decade of the '80s! Are you sure you're only 30???

Well aqua guy, I think we should leave aside all new trends and new scents. I don't like modernisms anyway... Let's talk about Fahrenheit, Aramis, Ungaro, Cerruti 1881, Jazz, Paco Rabanne, Tsar...

I just turned 31 a few months ago. Growing up, my Taurus dad always loved colognes and his favorite has always been Calvin Klein Obsession. He was a ladies man, a little too much of a ladies man. It was such a problem that mom divorced him. Any way, as an adolescent guy with Venus conjunct my ascendant and Moon in Taurus, I quickly understood that there's something to be said about smelling good as a man. I started wearing department store fragrances like Obsession when I was a teenager and never looked back. I have tried a lot of scents and love so many, but Calvin Klein Obsession is the one that gets me the most positive attention from women. I'm like my dad in that regard. That scent is our scent for whatever reason. Skin chemistry is definitely a thing.

Eternal Energy,
I definitely prefer the classics too, but there are still some good fragrances being released here and there. I really like the new Viktor Rolf Spicebomb Night Vision Eau De Parfum. It has a really nice scent that reminds me of older masculine classics, but it has a nice modern twist with stuff like notes of green apple. I'm more into dark, intense notes like you, but sometimes perfumers get the mixtures just right and the sweetness enhances the fragrance. But unfortunately, there are way more occasions where the sweetness overpowers everything and that just flat out doesn't do it for me.

Another newer one that like is Eau De Lacoste Blanc. It's more of a light daily fragrance that would be ideal for the summer months. It's got prominent citrus notes like a lot of those types of fragrances do. I typically find those scents boring, but it has a woody base to balance it out and make it a really nice scent.

I want to try Paco Rabanne. I tried Tsar as a sample years ago and I still remember how green and spicy it was. That was right when I was becoming a scent connoisseur as a teenager. I loved Tsar from the first whiff and would most likely own a bottle today if it wasn't discontinued. I miss that scent. Also, I own a Russian fur hat and would love to stroll around in it while wearing Tsar and watch the ladies stare and whisper. They'd be thinking "Who is this enigmatic man who wears such intense cologne?"

It's ok about your dad. We are all trying to do our best... Sometimes we don't know how to do it and we feel bad with ourselves and don't want to show it, so we keep on doing what we only know. Some other times we try and we don't make it and we lose our faith and believe that we will never feel happiness in our heart and we keep on doing what we only know. Your dad is your dad. I'm sure he never wanted to hurt you and your mum intentionally. And of course you resemble him. But you know what's the best thing about being the son of your dad? That you can choose who you want to be. And believe me, we are always a better version of our parents. Until our children come...and they surpass us and become better than us and they do things better than us...

I found this brand called Dua Brands that supposedly does really good cheaper versions of high end fragrances like Tom Ford's Patchouli Absolu. I'm really excited to try them. They have gotten a lot of great reviews.

Eternal Energy,
Have you smelled Lapidus Pour Homme? I really want to try that, Kouros, and Zino Davidoff.

Thank you for the kind words. Yep, I don't have any bad feelings. People make mistakes.

Hi there, aqua guy. How are you?... Zino! I remember that! And yes, I know Ted Lapidus and I have been trying the last few minutes to figure out if I remember how it smells, but nothing comes to my memory... I'm sorry... I used to wear Organza by Givenchy back then when I was very young, a lot younger than you are now.
