The only things I've broken, were things like glasses, by accident. I doubt that anyone here as broken windows on purpose, set police cars on fire, etc.

I thought so
Please reread the sentence. I'll repost it to make it easier to see

Right or wrong they were there to confront what they consider fascism.

Do you see the difference between this sentence and actually calling someone "fascists.. (ANTIFA)"

Sometimes comprehension makes the diff between real and fake news, not the actual content

In doing so, the way in which they do, they themselves exhibit fascism.

I think there is a widespread tendency to label fascist that which is not. Tryung to shut down someone else's speech is not necessarily fascism.

Nor is racism necessarily fascist.

For starters, fascism is about govt and corporate control, not something individuals do.

This is another facet of hysterical narratives that is getting in the way of peoole coexisting with those they don't like. Throwing around terms like fascist, socialist and the like clouds the issues, it doesnt clarify them.

Free speech is the number one barrier to fascism.

Yes..It is the barrier to any kind of totalitarianism. Fascism is just one variety. Free speech also threatens dictators, monarchs, the church and anyone who reserves the right to rule without consent or challenge

One of the reasons the name Hitler comes up is that Hitler denigrated all press criticism as falsehood and instated an Official press to spread his word. It is not generally meant to imply that DT is firing up the ovens but as a warning that muzzling the press is a,step down the totalitarian road.

A free press.. even if they are irresponsible.. is part off the free speech picture.

As pire pointed out, Hitler didn't look so bad against the backdrop of corrupt and failing politics and chaos in 20s germany.

No one is shutting down the free press. They are free to be fake.

A violent ideology is a violent ideology,yes?

Is the difference that you disagree on all fronts with isil but adhere to much/some of the nazi group think?

When do nazis or antifas if you like , as a group, get denounced as a whole not the naughty "few who were violent"?

Some of trumps own words. Taibbi makes the pertinent point that not everybody even heard all of them and that has played into the whole dynamic. But this is particularly apt re Randalls insistence that DT "already denounced Duke" (back when no one was listening) AND that he has dodged the question too

The most infamous instance was after Klan leader David Duke pledged his support to Trump early in 2016, and a deadpan Trump pretended not to know what white supremacists or the KKK were.

"I don't know what you're even talking about with 'white supremacy' or 'white supremacists,' " he croaked to CNN's incredulous Jake Tapper. He promised to "do research" and get back to us.

Crucially, and this part of the record often gets overlooked, Trump would usually come around and push the conventional kumbaya take in subsequent media appearances, disavowing whatever horrible thing he just said 10 minutes before. It was a triple game. The initial hesitations and defiance reinforced his hero status with the outright race nuts, who caught his not-so-subtle signals of solidarity. Then, the belated denunciations and/or apologies reassured the merely closeted racist Republicans, a far more numerous group that didn't like to think of itself as openly prejudiced.

And in the final stage, when he'd throw up his hands like a victim and say things like, "How many times do I have to reject or disavow?" he'd turn the issue all the way around. Each episode became a story not about Trump's attitudes, but about liberal-media unfairness and bias

This endeared him to an even wider range of conservatives who may not have even heard the beginning of the story, but certainly hated the press enough.

Trump hyped this question like the reality star he was: Tune in next week to find out just how insane or dangerous I really am!

Nazis, as despicable as they are, are not as a group attacking soft targets with suicide bombers. Your comparison to ISIS is ridiculous.

Let him throw stones. No use trying to understand him because he just comes back round robin.

Unfortunately, it does when that loon is in the White House (as he is now).

Holy Sh:t!!!! Someone let Trump off his leash. He is in full on raving lunatic mode in Phoenix, and obsessing over Charlottesville and the aftermath. He just can't help himself. His own words are what get him in trouble.

Great speech, most of it off teleprompter...AND President Trump royally ripped the dishonest press. I can't think of anyone more deserving of getting ripped by the President.

I was working but i heard some people who were watching him on CNN laughing and scratching their heads when he said CNN shut off their cameras. Sometimes its "His own words" that are twisted 😂

Guess you would have had to be watching CNN to catch that bit of fake news, eh?

You reckon? Let us in on it then.. what exactly is the "in joke" that only the enlightened would get? And how come they don't get the joke everyone else sees?

So.. what was so great about his speech?

It was vintage Trump all the way. For those who love President Trump, no further explanation is necessary. For the never Trumpers, no explanation will do.
