Well you were "obviously" stupid enough to say you were leaving this thread at least 3 or 4 times, due to your ego having to come back

Question: what is the criteria for becoming a moderator on this forum because i'm sure being God is not one of them?!

(((LEXX)))

No stress! No stress!

quote:
Having said that, I do know a guy who does NOT believe in STD's. He just doesn't. He never uses protection and sleeps with whoever he wants. I find this totally baffling.

My little Virgo sun wanted to wrap itself in bubble wrap after reading that! Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwww!

I get HIV tested every year (and regular checkups for other STD screenings). I don't have any risky behaviors, but I always want to be sure. And then I freak out waiting for the results even though I know they will be negative, especially the HIV test. This topic is a frightening thing for me.

In college I contacted an STD from a boyfriend that I thought was faithful. Luckily it was treatable with antibiotics. I had NO SYMPTOMS. It came up during an annual screening. I could have had it for months. If I didn't get screened, maybe even years. It could have cost me my fertility. STDs SUCK. They SUCK. It is no laughing matter. I was horrified, ashamed, and afraid. I am sharing that because even though we weren't married, I was a victim of believing in LOVE enough to save myself. When I told him he gave me an STD he had the nerve to say that I must have cheated on HIM! Some people accept no responsibility for their actions. They are sociopaths.

Since then I am uber-cautious although the Scorpio/8th house part of me loves the idea of raw, natural sex with a partner. But I know too much to expose myself like that.

I also know a married couple where the wife has herpes (she also contracted that STD in college from a boyfriend but was NOT as fortunate as me--she will carry the virus for life). I have always wanted to know how they manage their sex life. A mutual friend once told me that when they were dating her husband had decided that if was going to be with her forever he might as well get it too and now they both have it. I'm not sure whether to believe that.

They also have 2 children who were conceived naturally. I am pretty sure you can have a normal sex life if you are not actively infected with herpes? Or maybe he does have it too. But that doesn't seem healthy, even if both partners have it. Both kids were born vaginally. I just now looked it up and apparently if you are not actively infected (if it is in remission) they will let you deliver vaginally. So there is hope of living a normal life (although with the rate of Caesareans in this country, popping them out the old-fashioned way is almost gauche). That remission thing must apply to sex as well.

But yes, I agree with all who have said it is a serious topic and legitimate questions to become more educated are welcome.

It just saddens me when I hear stories that even in marriage it is not safe to trust your partner 100%

ETA: I have an uncle who died of AIDS. You don't actually die of AIDS, you die of complication from AIDS. He was homosexual and probably contracted the disease from an HIV positive partner in the 80s before it became the big deal that it is now. His immune system was so weak that he began contracting viruses that wouldn't phase a healthy person. He was hospitalized and had skin infections, lesions, etc. He eventually died from liver failure.

He was my mother's youngest sibling and died before he was 40. My grandmother was heartbroken. They are buried next to each other now.

SOVG~

True that. My uncle was 45. He died from complications from aids, in the form of 'shortness of breath'. That was what was written on his death certificate.

He was my grandma's youngest son, and they shared a birthday!!! She was never the same, and died shortly afterwards, of, IMHO, a broken heart.

To hold your grandma in your arms while she sobs from losing her son is not fun. I wouldn't wish that on anyone. It's terrible!

{{{ HUGS }}} to all the survivors out there.

Thank you for understanding. My grandmother was my heart. Her agonies were mine and vice versa, even as a child.

I've never seen a bull actually. I think they'd scare me.

May l say a big "heartfelt" condolences to everyone on this thread who has lost family or friends to a STD. It's a tragic thing. I lost a very dear friend to AIDS and so l empathise.
