I just found this thread after realizing Lindaland is more than Astrology 2.0

I'm 22 but I've grown up around adults my whole life, and then I've grown up around peers near my age who were more naive when it came to relationships and gravitated towards jerks and a-holes. Among seeing my peer group being so deranged when it comes to relationships and playing games, and then seeing adults who bicker and never seem in love, I'm pretty content being single.

I tried dating a guy last year and he even turned out gay, but I hated being in a relationship. I like flirting and if I got to know someone well enough as a friend I'd be comfortable with more but I don't like the confinements and rules that relationships bring. I'm more of "As long as I'm getting a fair share, I don't mind that you see other people." Now by SEE, I'm imagining they're just kissing other girls. I wouldn't do that with someone who wanted to sleep with more than just myself, you know? But I still wouldn't want the title of "Girlfriend" or anything. It feels like too much pressure.

I've been single for a while. I used to feel some embarrassment/shame about this because people do kind of look at you funny sometimes. But I've realized lately that it's their problem and not mine. If I'm really honest with myself... I love being single.

The main thing that sucks is that it sometimes affects my female friendships... a lot of women who have boyfriends/husbands don't like a single woman hanging around, like I'm going to STEAL YOUR MAN. Which is pretty insulting because I believe in the "girl code" and I don't really respect a man who would cheat on his wife/partner. Half the time want to say "Girl, don't flatter yourself - if I was going to steal a man, it sure as heck wouldn't be yours."

Unfortunately I lost my best friend this way - she became wrongly convinced that I had my eye on her man. She was also the type of woman who liked to validate herself by flirting with other people's boyfriends/husbands, so, classic case of projection.
