No one is dwelling in the darkness, Juniperb.

No one.

Ami Anne is just discussing it, because I think this is somewhat new for her. Otherwise, it's a process of understanding it.

Don't need no additional judgment here.

And, again... no one said they see the world as barren and ugly, either.

This isn't a white team vs. black team... or even a good vs. bad argument, at all.

Hmmm, I didn`t even realize you were arguing Or one vs. the other. Just ideas and opinions shared.

Guess this forum is for the disorders in general rather than adults giving and taking experiences and ideas.

Wonder if that`s why it`s an empty house here

Carry on!

You know,Juni, you are entitled to your opinion as we all are.
Obviously ,discussing Personality Disorders and other 8th house topics are important to people or they would not be doing it.
Your POV is important to you as is each person's to them.

I realized from my recent encounter that PD's do really exist.
It would be nice if nice words could wash them away as something putrid going down the drain.
If I had wishes and hopes,it would be for that but, alas,it would be foolish and as such, not reality.
I am seeing how static a PD is. It is an armoring of a person as an armardillo is armored if you have ever seen one.
I see them ,occasionally.
They look like an armored solider.
A PD is like that

If your parent had a PD,you had to morph to accomodate that person's presence.
In your accomodation lies your problem. If you could go back and untwist you would heal.

A PD person lost or gave up their own self so they have to steal yours

I suppose that is you let yours be stolen, you are not strong enough in your own self, obviously.

Great discussion guys! Please don't fight...

You're right Ami, we all have the personality traits mentioned in the disorder classification. They become "disorders" only when these traits are exaggerated and cross a certain line.

For instance, a low amount of narcissism means self esteem; questioning authority could sometimes mean that one possesses enough discernment not to obey a law that is crooked, therefore it is not an antisocial PD.

I have read a lot about PD's. After my divorce, I stumbled upon a site created by a narcissist, and recognized my ex-husband. It was as if all the pieces of a puzzle came together, explaining the unexplainable in his behavior.

I spent a long time studying the various PD's (SN in Aqua). I know what my folks have, and why I have been a victim. After a while, I realized that labels do not really count. It doesn't matter if the person who's hurting you has NPD, BPD, you name it. All that matters is how that person makes you feel. I recognize those situations and usually get out quickly.

With all that being said, I still have to deal with these people on a regular basis, so I developed coping mechanisms. I sincerely hope that they are healthy ones.

Related to what juniperb said, I also try to see the good that exists in these people, and the hidden pain that they carry. Whether I show overt empathy depends on a case by case basis.
