I have been following this thread, but finally have time to sit down, off work, and reply appropriately~Firemoon, I dont think you have a "drinkin problem" either, Venus has said some amazing things as well as other posters!
Alcohol has been a demon for me, one way or another since the day I was born, as it is for so many of us.
I dont believe in the term "alcoholism", is there "sexism" or "shopsim" or "foodsim?"
One is no better than the other and one should not be judged more than the other.
Sure alcohol destroys lives, but so does obesity, literally...spending too much money, gambling, etc.
I still have not figured out why society jumps on the band wagon to destroy alcohol. Perhaps it started with prohibition, who knows?
Addictions are addictions. I mentioned a great book on this forum not too long ago, "Unchain The Brain" by Dr. Amen, which is about the addiction process...all addictions are the same, from texting to alcohol, they stem from the same factor, dopamine release in the brain.
What I really want to say to you is dont let yourself get labeled by yourself or others as an "alcoholic." Once one accepts a lable one be-comes it. Society is so darn friggin good about lables!
I know of many folks who drink alot, "abuse" it I suppose, I know of people who rely (abuse) prescription drugs, recreational drugs, food, sex, shopping, exercise.....just to name a few and who are truely good people and function quite well in society!
I know of many who dont.....
At any drop of the hat and any way you choose to look at it, one is at the path that one has chosen and is where one is supposed to be, in my opinion, at this very exact minute.
IF you are questioning something in your life, it is a growth period, but it doesnt have to be negative.
SOCIETY makes it bad, negative.
Please dont let (messed up) societal norms put you in a place that is truely not you as Venus put so eloquently!
blessings and lots of love and luck!
