Freedom is unattainable on the physical plane. That's what I think.

To me, freedom is being free of any need, emotion, or concern.

Being on a different plane of existence.

Sorry if that sounded too metaphysical.

Being in a state of "no expectation" is freedom of these on the physical plane?

I`m terrible at the modern shorthand as well but I interpreted it as "Of course".

freedom...man theres a lot of different ways i thought about freedom over my short 21 year lifespan.
what ive come up with (probably my 21 year old head speaking) is that freedom is the ability to make decisions without looking back. without your past choices haunting you. to be able to accept everything that you are, good and bad, and be able to live with it. and love yourself for it.

Kris Kristofferson can really pen a lyric.

You all know Bobby McGee.

Ever heard this one?

"Jesus Was a Capricorn" was written by Kristofferson, Kris

Jesus was a Capricorn
He ate organic food
He believed in love and peace
And never wore no shoes

Long hair, beard and sandals
And a funky bunch of friends
Reckon may just nail Him up
If He come down again

'Cause everybody's gotta have somebody to look down on
Prove they can be better than at any time they please
Someone doin' somethin' dirty, decent folks can frown on
You can't find nobody else, then help yourself to me

Get back, John

Eggheads cursin', rednecks cussin'
Hippies for their hair
Others laugh at straights who laugh at
Freaks who laugh at square

Some folks hate the Whites
Who hate the Blacks who hate the Klan
Most of us hate anything that
We don't understand

'Cause everybody's gotta have somebody to look down on
Prove they can be better than at any time they please
Someone doin' somethin' dirty, decent folks can frown on
But you can't find nobody else, then help yourself to me

Help yourself brother
Help yourself [Incomprehensible]
Help yourself brother

Songwriters
Kristofferson, Kris

He wrote this one to her:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jKttwK7Ri7E

Fritts, Donnie / Kristofferson, Kris.

Her close friends have gathered
Lord, ain't it a shame?
Grieving together
Sharing the blame

But when she was dying
Lord, we let her down
There's no use cryin'
It can't help her now

The party's all over
Drink up and go home
It's too late to love her
And leave her alone

Just say she was someone
Lord, so far from home
Whose life was so lonesome
She died all alone

Who dreamed pretty dreams
That never came true
Lord, why was she born
So black and blue?
Oh, why was she born
So black and blue?

Fritts, Donnie / Kristofferson, Kris

But since we are talking Freedom here:

Thought of this song this morning.

First I saw an Eagle (second day in a row) at the top of a bony old skeleton of a tree. Then I saw the Warm Golden Glow bathe the contours of Majestic Mount Shasta framed in the distance by a bowl shaped rounded greenery. It brought back to me the words of this song; in the context of this Thread.

Such beautiful lyrics, but then I tried listening to the song and his voice is like nails on a chalkboard to me.

^ Oh but this is nice

Since we're talking music, lemme tell you that every time I broke up with my college boyfriend of four years (yes I'm a Pisces moon and stayed in the relationship so I wouldn't hurt his feelings, you got it!) I would be singing this song:

I'm FREE

I'm freeeee
And I'm happppppy
I am free from your hatred
I've parted from the part
That I participated
So I'm free
It was easy

Well, we have both been on the same page with this, because from the start I have been thinking that freedom for me is not being "in love."

So, I guess this will be the final:

In response to the two opinions above regarding "Epitaph (Black & Blue)" and "Loving Her was Easier (Than Anything I'll Ever do Again) I was actually trying to bring all my thoughts together on this Thread; in a sort of juxtaposition.

No Regrets.

Sometimes we think that, when first we break the ties.

Listen to the grate of that voice again, and think what it would be to lose forever one you love.

Listen to the other: Love in Full Flight. (Which he may never, ever do again once she was gone. Death being a bit more final than; oh, say divorce.)

Which is the True Freedom?

This is why I never answered this Thread, because I never really decided in my mind...

(Because Love can be; well, a "Ball & Chain.")

But, People, we must think twice...

"She died all alone"

Oh, and regarding "Me & Bobby McGee:"

"Janis Joplin also covered the song for inclusion on her Pearl album only a few days before her death in October 1970. Kristofferson had sung the song for Joplin, and singer Bob Neuwirth taught it to her. Kristofferson, however, did not know she had covered it until after her death (the first time he heard it was the day after she died).[2] Joplin's version topped the charts to become her only number one single and in 2004, her version of this song was ranked No. 148 on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time."
