No, probably the person would be so overwhelmed with impressions and feelings of compassion and empathy, that they might end up confused as to where the others end and their own feelings begin.

Thank you Ami, I'm trying my best. I'm currently studying to become a behavioral analyst in criminology (fancy title to say that I'll be a psy making the psychological portraits of criminals), so this sort of thread actually relates very closely to what I'm studying.

That is AMAZING, Rose. I am currently reading a cool author, Katy Munger.

She is an amazing writer----detective genre but really, really funny. Do you read books on the subject?

Where are you in your current studies?

Not far
haven't started uni yet, want to enter McGill and I should be able to go in in a year. I'll see...
Yes I am reading books (mostly informative, bordering on school texts and studies on the subject (psychopathy is probably one of the pathology that interests me the most)
I'm also watching the serie "Lie to Me" right now, which is crazy accurate in its scientific data

I think some people do really have some kind of deficiency in the brain or something and are born without empathy.

They can learn how to function with a good education though, and maybe not become dangerous.

But, since almost everyone has some childhood problems, most of these people will live up to that bad potential they already have...

That's what we call repressed empathy.
Well, that's mostly the case with everyone incapable of feeling empathy, usually if they are consciously asked to put themselves in other's shoes and if they'd like that situation to happen to them, they can usually relate with what the other is feeling.

However it is a conscious process rather than an immediate response.

Sometimes that same planet will work harder to overcome, and for others, as well. My Jupiter is opposed by Pluto, and squared by Saturn. It also sextiles Venus, and trines Neptune and the Midheaven.

That Jupiter would not really be what I would call 'troubled" due to the many good aspects, Teasel.

As Ami said, beside I'm one of those who believes that even harsh aspect to Jupiter isn't really... bad...
Jupiter is like this optimist guy that, even if you hit him square in the face, he'll just turn his head on the other side and welcome life again.
WELL until he's had enough. Even the nicest guy/planet can get ugly

I know two guys who are sociopaths. One admits it. The other is obvious lol

Most planets are making hard aspects to Jupiter.

One guy had Neptune, only, free from a hard aspect to Jupiter, as I remember.

This guy worked in a creative field.

I can check out the chart of the other guy later to see the specifics but Jupiter had almost every planet making a hard aspect to it.

That would be my first consideration in this matter, Astrologically speaking, anyway.

I think that someone with a really blessed Moon could not lack empathy, either. I don't think it could happen. I have a Cancer Moon, without real stress and I don't think I could lack empathy, no matter my upbringing. I am not saying this to brag lol, just to explain some Astrological indicators of lack of empathy.

That makes so much sense.

I've been studying my siblings chart in relation to my own. He is very cold, manipulative, self-centered and controlling. Nothing seems to really affect him. He wasn't always this way - things bothered him a lot when we were younger and he seemed to care about his family then but not anymore. He chooses that which he has empathy for, though I'm still reluctant to say that empathy is what he's actually feeling.

His Moon is in Scorpio, conjunct Mars in Sagittarius. Both his Moon and Mars are square Jupiter in Aquarius. He has a very wide Mercury conjunction and Venus conjunction to Jupiter, but the orb is so wide (8-10 degrees) that I'm not sure whether I should count them or not. He also has Sun and Mercury in Aquarius square Pluto in Scorpio (7 and 9 degree orb respectively). His Moon is sextile his MC. His Jupiter is inconjunct his MC.

I am the exact opposite. I feel for everything and everyone - homeless animals, homeless people, sick or injured people and animals. I have a hard time killing an ant. I cry easily when faced with an emotional or intense situation. I feel things for people, even people I don't want to feel things for. I have a hard time feeling as if I truly hate/dislike someone because there is a part of me that is always in tune with what they're feeling. I can tune in on it from across a crowded room. I appear cold (Cap ASC) but I am far from it. My generosity and helpful nature often takes people by surprise. I am also easily taken advantage, especially by my sibling. He knows how to manipulate me and the rest of his family.

I also have Moon-Mars conjunction, zero degree orb. It's a much tighter orb than my brother's. My Moon and Mars are both in Gemini. They're sextile my Jupiter in Leo, which is my 7th House, and are a part of my yod pointing at Uranus in 12th House. My Moon and Mars are in my 4th House. They both square my Mercury & Venus (in 8th house) and are inconjunct Uranus (again a part of the yod). My Moon & Mars are also both trine my NN in Aquarius/12th House. Where my brother has squares to Pluto, I have sextiles.

So...the Moon & Jupiter theory definitely make sense for me and my sibling!

Stick up your chart if you want, SV. I should not be looking at any more charts, but I am addicted to Astrology. What can I say
