What does everyone think of Marijuana?
Can it be spiritually beneficial?

All narcotics are spiritually 'beneficial'! - they induce a state of awareness which can be experienced only through strenous yogic procedures. There are those which even induce OBEs. Yet they are addictive, the damage the physiology, destroys the mind and psyche, and are required in increasing levels.

btw, your name is interesting.

I have to agree with Raj on that one. Drugs, especially ones that cause you to hallucinate, open different parts of your mind that normally dont get used properly. Though I've gone thru an acute battle with drug addiction,I must say that I did learn and experience a lot when using. There comes a point though that it no longer is a fun learning experience, and you have to be on drugs just to feel normal. There was a time when being clean for a day was the strangest high. I am by no means a drug advocate... but they have made personal growths in me that wouldnt be there if I didnt experience it and put myself thru thoes tests and push myself thru thoes limits.

Thank you for replying
Yes, I definitely experienced some strange things
Last time I had an experience, and I must admit an AWESOME experience, was with a close 'friend' (before I go on, I must apologize that I speak of such private matters), and even though we didn't sleep together, there was such a strong connection between us that I saw the energy going through our root ckakras and through our Third Eyes in circles, and spiraling upwards and it was so strong, like a magnet trying to bind us together and was soo hard to resist
I don't even know how to put it in words, It was like I imagined the connection between the Twin Souls would be while reading Gooberz. Now I don't know that we are true Twin Souls, but there is definitely a strong connection between us, whatever it is.
I've only tried marijuana a couple of times, but it helps me so much with my music and piano playing, I'm full of ideas and I memorize things in a flash and the most important I don't need as much practise. But I don't want to become addicted to it or anything, as I already have an addiction, I mean being a chocoholic!

Hi
I do think drugs can be quite beneficial for lots of things. But like anything in life if taken to extreme it won’t be good for you. Also the effect of any drug from Marijuana, coco, morphine, Valium, etc is different from anyone. Like Bolivia Coco tea is not only legal but also beneficial for the health because Laz Paz is the second highest city in the world and sometimes it creates problems for people’s blood circulation. Marijuana is said to be very beneficial for people that have certain illness. I think some of the drugs are very good for helping people focusing on a spiritual level or opening the third eye etc. I would not recommend it if you are not a strong person, remember so people are more susceptible to certain types of addiction (one can analysis the chart). But I also think that different types of meditation are also good for the same thing.

Hi!

I know there are some drugs that can really open the mind and break down some barriers. I just want to say to please use caution and moderation. Drug use can have such a devastating effect on people and the people around them. Just because intentions are good doesn't mean habits don't result. Put it this way, once you feel you "need" it, it's gone too far. I would certainly hope that one could acheive a higher state and appreciation for life without the use of drugs. Also, hasn't anyone noticed that while certain parts of the mind are opening up while your high, other parts are severly clouded! Our bodies are temples, they are a gift and we are lucky to exist in such an efficient manner. I don't like to jeopardize this!

Good morning, every one:
Good topic, I have Never, considerd Marijuana a drug, or an illegal narcotic. It is a seed bearing plant, put on this Earth for a purpose, and it has many, many uses. I have a purple blouse and dress made from hemp. Rope, paper, and bird seed, lotions, shampoo, and brownies, to name just a few and it is only a few,and it is natural. The FDA,and a few (million) would rather you take Prozac, instead of a bowl, it is a revenue thing, look at all the Legalized Liers, that would cease to profit. You have to be responsible, for your own actions, know yourself and your limit, and Yes, I am for the legalization of Marijuana, I hope it doesn't offend any one. But, I have been around all sorts of people and I do know the difference. Im not saying everyone should smoke, some people just don't like it, and that is fine too. Freedom to choose.
The Lord put the seed here, I didn't see any user manual, so...Peace to your Soul Love to your Heart.

Up until last year I swore that I would never even try marijuana, but this year on
my twentieth birthday I had terrible time
and since one of my friends had some handy I said what the hell!
And man did it feel good!!!At the time, we had a friend staying at our place, and she was a doctor as well as being a homeopath, so I asked her what she thought about Marijuana, and she told me that it would not be wise to do it more than once a month or depending on the individual, but no more than twice a month. Then it is actually beneficial. And I believe her because she really knows her job well and we agree on most things.
But then I read in Alan Oken's book "Soul Centered Atrology",that some drugs and especially alchohol (about which I knew of curse),burn through the etheric sheath and weaken it, exposing the individual to various psychological and physical dysfunctions. So does that apply for Marijuana or not

Well I have been reading this bord here and am a little werey of saying this but, I have to be frank and say, no, I honestly don't think drugs "open" your mind at all, I am infact certian they distort it, and I am only speaking of marajuana.

I few years ago I had used it probably about a 1/2 joint a day and I am still paying for it.I used it for a couple of years like this and I have friends who have done it and still do it, these people have no problem with their lives, some lazy some forgetful and so on. I don't think that it was created for our pleasure in smoking it, and if so, it is what Chocoholic said, once or twice a month.

I believe our body's were created to be used as tools to our earth, and what types of tools we make of ourselves to the earth is our own choices, laws can try to stop us but we have our own free will and will do what we want regardless.

Eating for example, our body gives us a signal as to when we are full, some keep eating other's stop and some never let themselves get to that point at all. I believe not getting full is what we were made to be like. As I said before, our bodys were made as tool's, we need food like gas, you feed bad gas (junk food, to much alcohol) your body will start to show signs saying it isn't running right anymore, but you feed it all it is required to have and not an over/under consumption, our bodys will run just right. Which brings me to the point of marajuana, why would it be created for us to use on an everyday bases if we become forgetful, lazy, moody and not to mention it is a depresant.

Please don't get me wrong, I am not Anti-Pot but I do have some strong views. And who knows why it was really created for us, it could be a relaxer, pain reliever, or maybe it was only ment to make paper and clothes out of or whatever.

My thing ith marajuana is it in the end brought about a very saveer depression, not the kind where you sleep all day,but I was up all night, never eating anything, not eating and sleeping itself are bad enough reasons to get depression amonge other things but I was reactiong in a very self destructive way towards myself and everybody else too. I saw a psychyatrist about it and he out and out told me that there are just some people who shouldn't ever touch it for whatever reason. He was a very open Dr. and I got the feeling from him he wasn't against smoking either.

What all I'm saying comes down to is, if marajuana was for spiritual purposes, how come I can't handle it? why are there people who can't cause it makes them sick every thime they do and people who get bad headaches from it? Is it that their God or what have you, doesn't want them to be spiritual? And if it is ment in "your" religion as somthing spiritual you were probably raised with it and most likley you live amonge a tribe of some type, I used to live accross the street from a church that was allowed to have marajuana as a part of their religion, but I can't see as soon as sombody picks up a joint they all of a sudden become spiritual or their spirituality takes on a whole new leval, thats what yoga/meditation is for, you have to work at achieving spirituality by soul searching, if this was the case certanley everybody would have been doing it for ages now

Im not trying to offend, and I am truley sorry if I am. I'll tell you now, if I had it in me to just sit back right now and smoke one I would for sure, but thats just the way the ball rolls I guess, and maybe while I was smoking it if you had asked me how I feel it does for spiritual purposes I may have given a much differant answer. I can also tell you, in all the time I havn't spent smoking, I don't feel any less spiritual at all, if anything I have found myself more.

I have heard that about a third of the people in mental hospital have been long term marijuana smokers. I used to think oh it's a natural plant it can do no harm, but then there are natural plants that are poisonous. I have been a long term smoker and have just given up as I am pregnant....and hope I don't start again as I think I was addicted, I think how it affects you depends on you, but my advice is use it but dont let it use you.

I'm usually a very liberal person, but when it comes to drugs I become highly conservative so I don't ever want to see drugs like marijuana legalized. I'm sorry it's just the way that I am. Yah people deserve to choose but I think it effects society far more badly then it does good!

What a wonderful post, Montana Rain, thank you and you have such a wonderful nickname, also

I join very much your opinion as well as the views of Joga, chocoholic82,Muse1, theFajita.
although I never tried any hallucinogens, I would like to- in a very special moment with special friends.
I am an enthusiastic weed smoker
and i have often seen and felt my Third eye after much weed. Natural drugs in moderation are helpful for spiritual and creative awakening. Its evolution, however, wouldn`t be a question only of getting high.
Lots of Love and Light,

I have to say this. I had some grand experiences getting high. Nevermind the fact that I always had no place to live and rarely ate a meal, but I won't deny, I had some good times. I saw the Virgin Mary. I found the answers to life, too complex for words and so simple, I could not explain them to you. I found other dimensions, I had a conversation with Jerry Garcia after he died, and hallucinated and pretty much saw it all. Yeah, it was great. So great, and so high did I go, that I had to keep going higher. Addiction is not fun. Half of my friends are dead because they abused drugs. Sure, people don't die from marijuana, but who has tried marijuana, and just that? Who really leaves well enough alone after getting high on marijuana? I nearly killed myself with drugs and did awful things. Many people I know are dead. Some are in jail. Some are on the way to either death or jail. And a very few, like myself, are lucky to be alive and not addicted to drugs. This is my story. THis is why I don't condone drugs. sure you get high, great. My life is not empty that I need to smoke something or roll on something to feel good or have a good time. Thank God I have my life back. Even if the intention is good- the ending can be bad. Do you really think when I was a teen smoking pot and burning insence and listening to Grateful Dead that I thought I would one day be selling everything I own and be desperate for crack, taking ecstasy so much I couldn't keep my chin still for weeks? Well that is where I ended up everytime. Everytime out of rehab, I would smoke pot and say, well it's just pot. And oh that high was so good. For the moment. But it's never good enough. Be careful what you condone- you don't know how others will react. Of course the government is wrong, half of the stuff they push is just is bad as drugs, and we all know it's unfair that people get more time for having a bag of weed than rape or something.

I think that we sometimes need something to wake us up, some kind of emotional or spiritual experience to show us what we are heading and longing for in our search for the TRUTH. It's different for everyone. As for becoming addicted, everything can be addictive, starting with food, the biggest problem in our society and in my ONION, this is much worse than a mild drug 'addiction'.If we have enough self control to not rely on drugs to be able to experience the state they put you in, but to try to achieve this without them, occasional usage is not harmfull in my ONION, if you know when to stop. And it also depends on the intention.

Your right, I got a little carried away. I am sorry. I had a long day of work and school and cleaning and cooking, and I just get concerned for people, that's all. I have just seen so many lives lost over drugs. Sorry, not so many over food. Perhaps it is my location, I don't know. Marijuana may seem harmless, but once I quit smoking that and everything under the sun, I realized how "dependent" people were on it who seem very "independent". But I don't judge. I am not perfect. Everyone is allowed to make their own decision. I just feel better knowing I put a warning out there after all I have been thru.

Fajita, I know what you were trying to say, I hope you didn't think that I was critisizing you or saying you were too harsh
And when I said mild drug addicts I was thinking about people who occasionaly use them. Somehow I feel that Marijuana is a 'spiritual' drug, and even if you say it's bad for you it's still better than smoking, wouldn't you agree?

Do you mean do I think is marijuana better than cigarettes? Yes I do. Thank you for being understanding, I don't mean to bullish at all, I am not. I actually know a lot of people who do smoke pot and it relaxes them and they are OK, you know, there lives seem to be in order. You sound very together and like you wouldn't let it rob you of your spirituality. I hope everyone had a good weekend :-)

I don't have very strong views on pot, I've tried it more than once, and it never did much for me. But then again, I like to be in control of my mind all the time, (Merc in Gemini, I guess)so maybe something that makes you slow down isn't for me.

I can't understand, though, why pot isn't legal and alcohol is. They are both drugs. They both can be abused. There is really no difference to me. It is now said that a glass of red wine a day is good for you, and some of you say you have heard that limited weed use also has benefits. There are certain personality types who become addicted to anything easily, whether it be booze or drugs or sex or food...they are trying desperately to fill some sort of emotional need. But we can't outlaw food, can we? (I'm sure some govt. agency is trying to think of a way right now!) I wish we could help those people who turn to the easy things to escape. But I have heard that everything is good in moderation, even moderation.

I do, however, have strong onions about the "legalized drug pushers": certain doctors, pharmacists, and of course, the drug companies that have those unbeLeIvEable ads on TV-"this drug is not for everyone... it may make you hemorrage from the ears uncontrollably, have severe seizures, and make your eyes fall out of your head. Ask you doctor if this drug for acne is right for you". The docs get kickbacks if they prescribe certain drugs...not the ones best for you, but the ones that give them a free vacation!! I'm not saying all docs, but I have realized, unfortunately through experience, that modern medicine is first a BUSINESS, that exists to make money. I'll get off my soapbox now before my blood pressure goes up.

So personally, I think meditation and yoga, and related things are the way to open your mind, and holisitic methods are the way to go when you're sick.
