My waters never broke so to speak. I was walking around and then went to try and use the bathroom and before I could sit, wham! There he was partially head out and 11 minutes later he was born, all the waters backed up "behind" him, his head being like a stopper, and the water propelled him like a rocket past the midwife, past the nurse, and he whapped the doctor in her chest! Fortunately she caught him! IP: Logged |

katatonic Sounds like it was a bit of a surprise! OK.....what may sound like a stupid question, to you and everyone who had their water break normally. What is it like? How did it feel? Is it like in movies, just suddenly water gushing? I never experienced it, only birthing as I spoke of and dozens of lost pregnancies. Did it hurt when the water broke? I feel like I missed out on something. Did I?IP: Logged |

quote: I am going to say something some may get weirded out about...... but orgasm at such a late time can bring on labor.
Lexx, totally not wierded out, re: orgasms it was a conversation topic last night! Although I'm waiting for the orgasm that actually sets it off, having them everyday, BUT afterwards they do cause a strong contraction- but only 1. I was saying to him last night that maybe I need to go for 10 in a row before anything happens (but I don't think I could manage it)...also TMI: but had several false alarms with water breaking- instead finding out I am a female ejaculator. LOL It only happened once before I was pregnant, now it happens regularly. Also semen on the cervix can help soften it, making it more favorable... doing everything we can here!! With my first, my water broke during labor, just before transition, a rather large warm gushing sensation, I did have a lot of fluid. Made a big mess. I like the sound of having it back up behind the baby to help push them out!
Still no signs of labor, just cramping here and there....

i was just sitting down to the table and no, it didn't hurt, in fact it's weirdly sensationless in terms of feeling it come from inside if that makes sense. but all of a sudden, no warning, what felt like a bucketfull of warm water dumped out on the floor between my legs. as if you took a full bucket and just turned it upside down.this was on the 10th day after "due" date and i spent the rest of the night in the frigging hospital on a monitor trying to sleep, no real contractions, no nothing. by morning i was having contractions, but honestly the pain when my tubes were infected was WAY worse...about 8 in the morning they induced me and 6 1/2 hours later she was born by cesarean. but no need for hospital stories here!! they were worried about a dry birth, and probably a possible lawsuit so we were rushed along there! *sigh* STILL pregnant! 1 cm, thick and very high! baby not engaged yet, i feel her little body oblique, head above my hip, but another week and i'll be nearly 42 weeks, measuring BIG.... I bet she just wants to cook a litte more. My pelvis hurts. The doc said I still might end up a csection and she already wanted to induce me cos of her size but she isn't engaged and I didnt like the idea of any of that BS talk, I want to just have midwife care, they are more relaxed and trust the body more, doctors are all about their instruments and their drugs.... lol Bunnies when that day came and went I was in shock, my hubby had bets on that day too... for some reason she wants to stay in for another few weeks. Thanks Lexx Kat , no I really wish I was though.... reallyyyyy IP: Logged |

42 weeks is not that late. I have known folks who gave vaginal birth at 44 to 46 weeks. Yes, the babies were large though, like 9 1/2 pounds to 10 1/4 pounds. ------------------ Everyone is a teacher... Everyone is a student... yes true Lexx, my mum was born at 43... and there were a few mothers in my Due Date Club who went close to 43... but it seems like doctors and some midwives do not like it and get nervous because of the certain percentage of placenta issues late babies can have... BUT I will take as long it takes but I will have her monitored as much as possible as I head toward the later stages... or I could just give birth now. IP: Logged |
