Seafood can look really pretty, but that awful sour-ocean taste is still there. Blegh.

A girl i used to work with (who claimed to hate seafood) and I went out on the town one night. First place we went was a favorite seafood restaurant of mine and I convinced her to try a few things from the raw bar. First some sashimi tuna which ended up being her favorite and we ordered more. She was very hesitant, but after her first bite, she was hooked. Made me happy to see her try some new things and much to her surprise end up loving them.

A lot depends on where you go, or who is cooking the dish I think....

and some fish is......fishier tasting than others, but the kind i prefer, to me anyway, does not have a heavy fishy taste...

^maybe hate and food just isn't so much used together in our vocabulary.

-------

i used to eat an amazing seafood paella dish at the club but i got too old to be a dependent and didn't really want to buy a share there hehe!

also lotsa seafood like oysters just pair well with champagne. tho that always gives me a headache.

caviar ommelettes?

i read salmon relieves depression and makes you look younger. it is the main food prescribed here..
http://images.betterworldbooks.com/006/The-Perricone-Prescription-9780061467738.jpg

and tuna is a much more preferred source of protein for me rather than chicken. i need to hit a certain amount for when i lift weights and it's just more palatble to me.

my main attraction to seafood is probably health reasons. it's just light and it actually makes you feel good after a meal

Nope. Not too much.

that tuna salad recipe sounds delish! And that's about all I can "cook" too.

I bought my first cookbooks awhile back and have made some okay dishes when following the recipes in them. I will admit i'm a terrible cook though.

Funny... come to think of where i got my love for seafood... it was from my Taurus ex, he kickstarted that one. He could also make a mean California Roll

when i was a kid i hated fish and would cry when it was for dinner and refuse to eat it, but then, it was the frozen fish stick kind. blech.

Great links Thanks. Another ex of mine and I were obssessed with these Fish Tacos at one of our fave spots.

will try to find the recipe or a similar one... i could really go for some of those right now..

Rice milk, silly. It tastes yummy too. High in calcium and vitamins.

Hey, don't teach me the wrong cake names! Post it anyhow. Share the culture! And beat the penis stew. Lmao.

There's a recipe for Salmon in Gluten-free girl's book. I thought of this thread as I read it. She had a new friend visiting, and made it quickly, as she sat her down in her kitchen. The friend apparently looked stunned when she put it in front of her, and she took a bite, only afterwards admitting that she didn't like fish, but that she liked that. I'll copy it here later on.

My progressed Sun has been in Taurus since I was around eight years old. I suppose it's only fitting that I got into cooking not long after that, although only basics. Babysitters weren't turning up until five minutes before my mother got home (which she found out one afternoon when she came home sick), so she taught me how to make a few things, like grill steaks (frozen food), hot dogs, macaroni, etc. I got into baking not long after that, but would occasionally have my mind wander too much, and one afternoon, happily cleaning up after making cupcakes, came across the large bowl of flour that was supposed to be in them, about five minutes after I'd put them in the oven (thinking they were a little too thin). I then got into sponge cakes, and cheesecakes, trifles (had a laugh making that with my mother, on Boxing Day 1989), Sour Cream & Noodle Bake, macaroni cheese and tomato, a sauce for spare ribs, spaghetti sauce... and then juicing, before I lost too much weight with that.

I need to take a nap. Be back later.

Oh, wow, teasel. You should come over and cook for me.

Jokes aside, I love cooking too. I had the opportunity to make some Bulgarian dishes lately and loved the attention they received!

Ah. Hm. Never could quite get into the rice milk. I suppose it's not a bad thing.
I'll see what I can share from Bulgaria. There is this filo dough pie that I love, lemme dig up the recipe...

oh dear 2 useless bulls in the kitchen! i don't even slice the ingredients evenly for the salad! i have these mini gadgets like a garlic slicer just to make that dish. disaster lol..

i would hate fish sticks too! i actually hate the whole ordeal of eating crab. not the taste but i'd never eat it in public or in anyone's house. too messy.

i can make a mean seafood pasta/ carbonarra kinda. i can do a roll too but i dunno if mine is mean.

what kinda fish goes into a fish taco?

the only other thing i'm into food wise is grilling lol..

Oooo that restaurant looks nice. Open fire grilling - cool! Do you work there? Oh, i see, i bet you like to eat there. lol

This one looks similar to the ones i liked up north
I'd love to have their recipe especially for the house sauce they put on them.

(the ones I had used a white fish, probably haddock or cod, but i bet you could use many different kinds and have them come out alright)

I think they are more popular out west and may have originated in California.
