I haven't read through all of this, but on the first page - regarding the Venus/Mars debate - it's definitely Mars who pursues in a Venus/Mars aspect.
I think someone said Mars wants to hit it and quit it... but it's not at all like that. Mars ongoingly wants to hit it -forever more. It's not like they stop or want to quit, not when the aspect is close.

I personally don't like men with their Mars on my Venus, but my dislike for them is not because they are cold towards me, or a "distancer". They were never cold at all. They were too hot. But their rudeness and aggression bothered me. Mars is just not gentlemanly enough for Venus.

:edit: About the whole pursuer/distancer dynamic more generally... imo people who have "older" Moon/Venus and Mars signs - don't end up following this pattern.
If you often find yourself in this type of situation, then you either have the personal signs figuring prominently in your natal chart - or - the partners you attract *do*... At least one of you would have the "younger" signs emphasised: Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer.

As far as double whammy pursuer/distancer synastry is concerned in a relationship, would this count? There are NO Venus/Mars aspects in this synastry:

Sun (M) trine Moon (F)
Mars (F) trine Moon (M)
