Hi everyone

Inspired by some of those "why do I attract X" threads like polkadotstars'... where do you see in your chart who you attract. Whose type *you* are.

This thread (which I posted in, too, back then) had some great suggestions.

http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum24/HTML/220320.html

http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/019404.html

So... let's turn things around: based on each other's chart, which signs generally go for us? Because there's always someone who has your placements in their attraction pattern. I'm especially curious about things that were unrequited or which we didn't feel as strongly as the other - to really keep who's our type out of it.

But also as friends of course. Maybe we can see some gender-related things as well?

Checking charts is also very much appreciated.

But in short, I've read about
- 1st house, especially planets for similarity
- 7th house for rejected qualities or those you wish you had, completing.
- 2nd house because of similar values
- 11th house as the house of love received

Anything else?

Hmmm...I strongly attract libra asc. I have an aries moon - my chart ruler and also the ruler of my sun & venus- and so that moon would fall in their 7h house.

I really noticed that pretty often: anyone who has a aries/cancer 7h house feels strongly attracted to me

You mean I attract those who put planets in my 1st, or those I put planets in their 1st?
I'm not very bright today

Lucky you!

I meant having planets in your first house and the sign that it normally rules. Like if you have Saturn in your first - you find yourself attracting Capricorns often, etc.

I wouldn't know, I have nothing in my 1st or 7th house (though Venus is parallel the DSC).

Whooo, that would definitely work! And yes, of course, your moon and ASC give you a really strong vibe of these two signs.

Lol I love how it's always the Aries types who reply so quickly. You're totally living up your Moon sign!

I think we might attract our MC, too. It's your most public side to you, so the sign, ruler and planets conjunct would give others this impression of you.

It certainly has for me, I find Cancer and Sagittarius inner planets/ASC like me a lot (not just romantically). My MC is in Cancer with Jupiter tightly conjunct (and Chiron, which is another teacher and blends well with Sagittarius).

I mean it! Actually I have made an amazing discovery, thanks to you. I attract all signs equally, based on my "history" (at least when it comes to sun signs, and talking about men here) with the exception of Libra Suns, which is veeeery weird, considering I have 4 planets in Libra, including the infamous Mars/Pluto/Mercury stellium. Isn't that weird? however out of the rest (equally present as Sun signs) many had something in Libra, for instance the ASC.

I think I had only one Libra Sun admirer.
Anyway, what I can tell you is which one of these people attracted to me where attractive to me too:

7th house as friends, I feel people in my 7th house are like natural partners, but rarely I saw them as romantic interests (from my side).

Out of the people attracted to me, the ones I want too definitely put planets in my 1st, 2nd and 8th, and something on the MC; plus a little something in 4th/5th; but the emphasis is definitely 1st, 2nd and 8th/MC. Which means Capricorn, Aqua, Pisces, Taurus/Gem, Virgo, Libra (not the Sun) and Scorpio.

Best friends always have something in Sag, Leo, Aries and Cancer though.

I have been very fortunate in not attracting any partner that causes drama in my life.

Most people attracted to me are good-looking,accommodating,well-mannered, charming, considerate and artful peacemakers.

I am usually the piece of work that f*** things up with my difficult and obnoxious temperament.

My Mars is in Libra in the 7th. And despite Mars being on the angle, I don't attract aggressive partners at all(as would often be suggested).

The energy of Libra on Mars turns things around a great deal. I am fortunate in this.

in terms of female friendship I attract soooooo many cancer suns. I have MC and cancer venus so i think that's why.
Romantically, I tend to attract lots of taurus placements and have attracted gemini suns. DSC is taurus and 8th is gem.

Hopefully it didn't sound like I'm bragging about having hordes of men after me what I meant is that I realized the distribution of signs tends to be equal, which was an interesting finding.
The same happens with women friends as well.

Sagittarius and Aquarius, for some weird reason. And if not Aquarius, then their progressed Sun usually is in Aquarius. lol

I myself am drawn like a moth to flame to Aries and also Sagittarius/Capricorn.

I used to have Cancers following me around, but that was long ago and probably by mistake.

EDIT
The Sagittarius/Scorpio mixes are "dangerous" though, at least to me, make all my alarm bells go off, there`s something "predatory" about them which creeps me out.
At least those 2 or 3 I`ve met.

Libras. But I don't think I attract more libras than people of other signs, it's just that out of the 12 signs, libras are most likely to stay around.

Can't quite explain why, I have intercepted signs and do not have aries/libra on the house cusps.

Maybe it's the 7th house jupiter. Or venus conj asc and chart ruler.

You already know about my soft spot for libra men. I have ceres in libra, so that may explain why I treat them more gently.

Yeah, I’ve posted on this topic before.

We’re attracted to our 5th, 7th, and 8th houses, our Vertex Axis, and our Juno.

We attract with our 1st, 2nd and 11th houses. The houses opposite to that which we are attracted to. The signs on the cusp of these houses, the planets in these houses, and the signs of the rulers of these houses, show who we energetically attract most often. It’s like a general theme in our lives. Of course there is a rational for why I’m saying this. I’ve gone into this topic in detail in the quotes below explaining it all (from a previous thread).

quote:
Originally posted by Lotis White:
Okay so the theory is that we are attracted to our 5th, 7th, and 8th houses astrologically… These houses are in the ‘other’ hemisphere of the chart and show the traits we are drawn to in others (this is in a relationship context, of course sometimes we ourselves will use and express our own 5th, 7th, and 8th houses)…

So if we want to look at the opposite of 5th, 7th, and 8th houses, we have… The 1st, 2nd, and 11th houses. These houses symbolize both what we have and attract. The 5th, 7th and 8th houses may show what attracts us to others, but the 1st, 2nd, and 11th houses, show where we ourselves are magnetic, and pull in the energy and attention of others.

The 2nd house is ruled by Venus traditionally and is actually quite a magnetic house. It shows what we feel have of value to offer others in relationships (the 8th house shows what we want others to offer us). The 2nd house is symbolically our contribution, and commodities of worth, that we are able to bring to the table for others in both a business and personal context. These need not necessarily be ’things’ although they sometimes are. The 2nd house shows how we go about attracting what we need from others, and how we express what it is about us that is a worthwhile investment… It also shows how we attract in a very basic earthy sense… Like honey to the bee. When we attract the sign on our 2nd house they tend to see us as valuable and physically appealing. They appreciate what we have to offer in the relationship.

The 11th house is the house of social popularity, and love received. It shows what it is about ourselves that we feel makes us appealing on a social level (or not if the chart has afflictions involving the 11th house), and our social self-esteem. It also shows what types of behaviors make us feel accepted, appreciated, and wanted by others (check the 11th house by sign, ruler and planets). The 5th house is what we fall in love with and our inspired reaction to our love object…. Our performance… The 11th house is the reception we desire in response to our passionate self-expression… Our audience… By sign, ruler, and planets the 11th house can show what type of people we attract as ’fans’ and admirers like personal ‘groupies‘ (the 5th house is who we admire). You know, the type of people in general who think that we are awesome. When we attract people from our 11th house they tend to make us feel special for the unique person that we are. They are like our number one fan.

The 1st house is where we wear a banner that says ‘This is how I am, take it or leave it! People who share the energy of our 1st house allow us to be authentically ourselves, and there is often a mutual attraction due to similarity. We attract the energy of our 1st house in general because we are able to identify with them and understand where they are coming form… It’s a very strong pull and is not necessarily romantic (unless other factors show it is so), but the attraction is very strong when it is. When we attract the energy of our 1st house they tend to make us feel validated in our point of view on the world, and they ‘get’ us. They also very much appreciate how we, in turn, seem to ‘get’ them. They love how we are just authentically ourselves, and how we don’t hold back on expressing our truth when we are around them. Authenticity is very attractive.

I’ve noticed that when we attract the 2nd and the 11th houses, in particular, there is often an unrequited love type scenario (where they like us, but we‘re not so sure about them)… Unless the 2nd and the 11th houses are also somehow tied to the 5th, 7th, or 8th houses in our chart.

When people influencing our 1st, 2nd and 11th houses are drawn to us, they are usually attracted because they see us as wonderful in one way or another (the specifics of this will show in the details of their natal chart). This is whether or not we actually want their attention.

I’ve really noticed this with the 11th house. It’s like I was fated to be loved by people with this type of energy, whether I want it or not. My 11th house is Libra with Pluto and Uranus in the 11th house, and Venus in Sagittarius in the 1st house ruling the 11th house. Libra/Scorpio/Sag/Aquarius/Aries combos seem to dig me. My 2nd house is Capricorn, and there were a couple of Caps in high school that liked me, but I never was interested (although, I’m a Cap myself).

However...

Romantically, what we are naturally attracted to is the 5th, 7th and 8th houses. So… When people influencing our 5th, 7th, and 8th houses are drawn to us, they are often attracted because they are aware we think THEY are wonderful for some reason or another (the motivation is different depending on the houses they activate). They kind of bask in the light of our adoration sort of thing.

Simplified: Synastry in our 1st, 2nd and 11th houses makes us feel wanted by the other person…. While synastry in our 5th, 7th and 8th houses makes us want the other person (usually, after all synastry is a complex topic).

Mutual attraction tends to happen we both people influence each others 5th, 7th, and 8th houses. And there’s a variety of ways for this to happen... Even if the other person actually only has planets in your natal 1st, 2nd or 11th houses.

Like... They can strongly aspect the rulers of the 5th, 7th, and 8th houses. Or have signs prominent in their chart associated with our 5th, 7th, or 8th houses. For example, if we a have Pluto in the 7th house they could have a bunch of Scorpio influences. Or if our 7th house ruler is in Leo, they could have Sun conjunct the Asc, or a Leo Sun or Moon. This sort of thing.

So going back to the 2nd/8th houses… We're attracted to our 8th house, and attract/magnetize with our 2nd rather then vice versa.

If a person has Taurus on the 5th, 7th, or 8th houses, however, They may very well be attracted to the energy of their 2nd house (because of secondary houses). Taurus rules the 2nd house, so if we have the sign Taurus on a 'romantic' house cusp, then the 2nd house becomes more attractive/Romantic for us.

I think it's the same for the 11th and the 1st houses too in this regard (or any house really). Having Aquarius on the 5th, 7th, or 8th house, would cause an attraction to 11th house synastry. And having Aries on the 5th, 7th or 8th house would cause an attraction to 1st house synastry.

I guess I can use myself as an example of what I‘ve written above.

I've got Capricorn on the 2nd house.

What I feel is most valuable about me is that I'm stable, trustworthy, and loyal... This is probably enhanced due to the fact that I've also got a Capricorn Sun (In the 1st house). Having Capricorn on the 2nd house shows that I see my strong, determined Cap side as one of my key 'bargaining chips' for getting what I need in the world... And others who also value these things are the people likely to be attracted to what I have to offer. Now of course I have other talents and traits in my personality, that are nice and have their place... It's just the my Cap side is the part of my nature that I see as my personal currency.

It's worth noting that my Saturn is in Virgo in the 9th house. I also highly value my analytical, organized side, my intellect, my interest in health and nutrition (especially alternative health therapies), and 'clean living' lifestyle (I avoid drugs and alcohol). My morality, integrity, and spiritual beliefs, are of great value to me as well... And of course others who value these same things that I do will be attracted to getting to know me.

The 2nd house shows the things we value and prioritize in terms of having comfort and security in life. When people get to know us and see what these things are, they may be attracted if what we value matches up with important parts of their own psyche. Synastry overlays in the 2nd can feel good because other person appreciates what we 'have' to offer in both a psychological and physical sense.

My 11th house is Libra ruled by Venus in Sagittarius, and Pluto is in the 11th house as well.

People who are courteous but also direct and honest make me feel so comfortable and welcome. I also really like when a person is patient with me, and takes the time to get to know me on a deeper level, below the surface of things... Like they take an interest in who I really am, and are understanding towards me (I'm pretty sure this comes from Pluto in the 11th house). Don't mind being psycho-analyzed so long as the other person is compassionate towards me (as it happens my natal Pluto is exactly sextile Neptune. Aspects to planets in the 11th matter too!), and has an understanding, considerate, patient attitude.

I tend to like this type of attitude from both platonic friends, and romantic interests (A guy who is trying to date me, for instance). This type of vibe makes me feel as if the other person is paying special attention to me, that they care about making me feel included, and that they really want me as a part of their life. 11th house synastry increases our self-esteem in a different way from the 2nd house. With positive 11th house synastry we get the feeling that the other person thinks we're a 'Cool' person to hang out with, and that they want us around.

People who act like our 11th house have a knack for making us feel welcome, and this helps us lower our barriers around them. We attract with our 11th house because we often appear open and receptive to these people, like we are curious about who they are (often we are curious about their interest in us in the first place).

My 1st house is Sagittarius, with Venus and Sun in the 1st house, and Jupiter in Cancer ruling the 1st in the 7th house.

I tend to feel like my most confident, natural, authentic, spontaneous version of myself around people who are positive, carefree, affectionate, self-expressive, and, oddly, also aware of the value of security in personal relationships (Jupiter in Cancer in the 7th). These types of people seem to just naturally allow me to do my thing, and to feel self-assured.

Self-assurance is an attractive quality in general. So our ability to attract with our 1st house often comes form the fact that people who influence our 1st see us as strong, independent and self-assured… Like we know who we are, and what we’re about. We have less self-doubt and more initiative and boldness around the people of our 1st house. I tend to get this vibe around Sagittarians very much.

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to make a few points in general to help answer some of people’s questions, especially about mutuality.

Okay, the 7th house is meant to represent our partner. And the Dsc represents our partner's Asc on a symbolic level. Considering this, using derivative houses explains why we energetically attract with our 11th, 1st, 2nd houses. When we turn the chart around and make the Dsc the Asc in our natal chart the 11th, 1st, and 2nd houses become our symbolic partner’s 5th, 7th and 8th houses. That means, that in general, we attract the people symbolic of our 11th, 1st and 2nd houses as if we were somehow filling up THEIR 5th, 7th, and 8th houses. This is just a generalized energy pattern we have in our chart.

For example, if we have Libra on the 11th house cusp, we may often attract Libra-like admirers due to the energy pattern of our chart. However, this does not mean that every Libra we meet will adore us. Of course not. Individual synastry always comes into play. A person being a Libra would not at all guarantee that they will love us. What does happen, though, is that due to synchronicity, and just the energetic pattern of how we are as a person, when we do experience intense admiration the person who is doing the admiring will have Libra-ish tones to their natal chart. Like we were just fated to experience things that way.

This is a rather simplistic way to put it because the 11th, 1st, and 2nd houses are way more then just he signs on the cusp. Hopefully you guys get what I mean. Some random person putting planets in our 2nd house is not a guarantee that they will see us as ‘valuable’, especially if the synastry is lacking strong connections. But due to the energy pattern of our chart, when we do experience the feeling of being valued for what we have to offer, that person is very likely to be positively influencing our 2nd house. It just seems to work out that way for us overall in life.

Often when we meet people we have very strong connections with this will show in multiple ways though out the synastry. If someone we’re deeply connected with puts planets in our 11th house, or strongly aspects it’s ruler, it’s likely that they adore us. And as fate would have it, when we look at the partner's chart we are often able to see why that is so, based on the symbolism of the their chart...

Maybe our Sun trines their 5th house ruler, or our Venus is in their 5th house aspecting their Mars. There are many ways we could press our partner’s 5th, 7th, 8th house buttons in such a way. One way or another, the natural appreciation that we experience from them based on our 11th, 1st and 2nd houses in synastry will show in our connection to their natal chart as well. If they’re doing something to our 11th it’s highly likely that we’re doing something to their 5th, and Vise Versa if we love them back! Again, there seems to be a kind synchronicity at work here. In really strong love relationships it just seems to work out that the mutuality can be seen in the synastry, house overlays, and house ruler connections. It’s hard to explain the rhyme and reason behind it all. That’s just the way things play out.

Going back to keeping things simple. If we have Libra on the 11th house cusp, this increases the likelihood the we’ll be influencing the 5th, 7th, or 8th houses (especially the 5th house) of the Libra-like people that we do happen to meet. That’s because energetically we usually attract adoration from these folks. It’s a symbolic energetic pattern/fate thing.

If we have Virgo on the 2nd house cusp, this increases the likelihood that we’ll be influencing the 5th, 7th, or 8th houses (especially the 8th house) of the Virgo’s that we do happen to meet because we usually attract appreciation from these types.

If we have a Pisces on the Asc, this increases the likelihood that we’ll be influencing the 5th, 7th, or 8th houses (especially the 7th house) of the Pisceans that we do happen to meet because we usually attract affection from fishy people. The energy pattern of our natal chart influences the different types of experiences we have with different types of people in a weird coincidental kind of way.

I hope this answered some questions.

This is actually quite a complex topic. Let me know what you guys all think.

I seem to attract alot of Libra Risings and people with Earth signs in their personal planets. (Recently it's been Aries Moon individuals).

But most people I attract don't seem to stay around long because there is little spark and I find them useless.

It definitely resonates in my case, however I have noticed, when it comes to overlays, the 5th/8th/7th rule is not that important/set in stone. Personalized houses are much more important for receiving overlays: geometrical completion needs, secondary houses, as you call them, matching a certain personal symbolism, and those holding the planets. The rulers however (of at least one of 5th 8th 7th and especially chart ruler and DSC ruler) are touched, they are in aspect.

For example, I like 2nd house overlays because my IC is in Taurus and my DSC in Cancer, so there is this mutuality symbolism between Taurus + secondary 7th house. I also have my angular Jupiter/Juno in there - Fan and yod apex, opposite my Sun and Venus and making an aspect with every planet in my chart. But for someone else, the focus of relational overlays could be their 3rd house for instance.
I attract people in my 7th house, but I am not attracted to them (as romantic partners)

I think people having their "liking" planets (Venus, Mars, Moon, a certain ruler) around our ASC, MC and even DSC- these 3 angles- + the 11th house (a house of popularity and receiving adoration) are the ones attracted to us. Those in our 2nd house too, on body level - they are attracted to our body type, our Venusian side in a Taurean kind of way.
People with Venus on our Sun and in our 1st house find us beautiful/attractive and they generally like us, our overall personality and manner of expression. Mars in someone's 1st, 2nd and on Venus (hard aspect) is usually very physically attracted. In fact, I think the 1st quadrant is mostly responsible for people being attracted to us: houses 1,2,3; along with houses 7th, 10th and 11th is how we project ourselves into the world, how we interact with basic personality/physical type (1st and 2nd), comunicational style with the immediate environment and in general (3rd), our general style of behaving with others, of forming partnerships (7th), in public + our professional impact and charisma (10th) and with groups/how popular we actually are (11th). Houses 4th 5th 6th 8th 9th are mostly receptive (what we seek out there, what we expect from others).
In the end however, such a list is more or less artificial. Perhaps the planets are the most important: people rooting for Leo/Libra energy will be attracted to my Moon and will be in my 7th house; those attracted to my Sun energy-rooting for 8th house/Scorpio with Virgo/Libra, in my 8th. A 6th house Sun will behave as such and it is expected people falling in their 6th on their Sun with "like" planets and liking 6th house/Virgo energy are actually after that Sun. I think this is the key.

So I think this is an interesting analysis, when it comes to understanding why you attract someone: matched symbolism. For example, looking at my Mars Pluto Mercury stellium in Libra/8th, it usually attracts people with Scorpio/8th house energy with something in Libra. They often have a Mars Pluto and/or Mercury Pluto or at least a Venus/Pluto, Moon/Pluto symbolism themselves(many times the actual aspect, or those in Scorpio/8th house) I can attest to the fact that many of them, if not all, had a Venus/Pluto, Mars/Pluto aspect themselves.

In my romantic relationships, I attract mostly those with masculine sun signs and feminine ascendant signs (Aries/Cancer, Libra/Pisces, Leo/Scorpio, and Sagittarius/Cancer). I have both my sun and ascendant in masculine signs (Aquarius/Leo).

Aquarius Sun, Leo Ascendant, Moon in Capricorn, Venus conj Mars in Pisces

Of course we've got to look at the rulers and the secondary houses too. We look at secondary houses especially for Angular houses.

The theory is that we're attracted to the SYMBOLISM of our 5th, 7th, and 8th houses. And, we attract the SYMBOLISM of the 1st, 2nd and 11th houses.

This does not necessarily refer to direct overlays. House ruler aspects, and the sign of the house ruler, would be important too. As well as symbolism matches in the partner's chart. For example, Uranus in the 7th could indicate Aquarius, even though the sign Aquarius itself is in the 9th house. Then we can look at secondary houses... A Sag Asc could also attract their 9th house symbolism in a 1st house kind of way.
