I see at least one Saturn square to Mercury- this can make communication quite wanted, and maybe even great in the beginning! But over time it can create a real suffocated feeling when it comes to communicating.

I've had this DW with someone I really enjoyed (and still desperately miss) talking to. It was wonderful in the beginning but eventually became very formal no matter what we tried. It was like there was some looming heaviness restricting the words or perhaps just being excessively careful over anything and everything we said. I wish there were a way to work it out, but so far I haven't found anything.

But! You only have it one way, and I don't see anything going on between Saturn and Mercury in the composite, so it could be that only one of you has more difficulty with it overall.

What do you think about Mercury square Mercury and Mercury square Mars? I have both of these in synastry with someone I like. But not in the composite chart we do have some nice aspects in synastry. Like Sun trine Moon and Venus sextile Venus.

I don't think Mercury square Mercury is that bad in synastry. I have a had friends and family with this aspect and it's tricky, can be a bit argumentative- but only because of miscommunication or interpretation the same thing differently. With Mercury square Mars it might be a little more volatile, but still not the worst. It depends on how reactive the Mars is. If it's a fire Mars, maybe more arguments or prone to fast-reactions. Earth or Water might have it more under control, and Air might be super willing to hash out the issue.

See what Mercury is doing in the Composite for more info there, but Sun trine Moon/Venus sextiles does sound pretty nice! Trines are comfortable and Sextiles are potential for some cool creative energy; good to have an outlet for it.

Thank you for your input! It’s their Mars and Mercury in Cancer square my Mercury in Aries and Mars in Gemini.
Some people say a relationship with those aspects can’t work. In the composite we have Mercury conjunct Sun, Mercury sextile Ascendant and Mercury trine Moon but it’s at 8 degrees so I don’t know if that’s irrelevant. But we like the same things the same food, movies, entertainment etc.

Cancer and Gemini are only semi-sextile, I think. So your Mars and their Mercury/Mars won't interact too much. The only difference would be one is Cancer is more passive than Gemini, but usually Mutable can keep up with Cardinal energy.

And pfft, those are great aspects for communication in composite. Sun/Mercury means you guys are very present in communication, sextile ascendant works, and trine moon is great for compatibility. I don't see any issue there lol

But wouldn’t someone with Mercury and Mars in Cancer find someone with Mercury in Aries impulsive? Especially since it’s their Mars? My Mars doesn’t square their Mercury. But it’s their Mars and Mercury in Cancer that square my Mercury.

They might. The moon would likely be more affected by the impulsive Aries Mars, but it isn't necessarily a bad thing. They're both Cardinal, so they're both active and willing to get to the point of it. I'd say your mind is a bit fast for Cancer sometimes, perhaps 'over' things long before Cancer is done steeping in what they're doing. So maybe some irritation, but squares between Mercury and Mars aren't usually too bad unless you're prone to arguments on your own. If both people are willing to talk consciously, there shouldn't be much issue.

I find square energy is great for solving problems, and only resistance to it is what causes any issue.

I have Mars in Gemini and Mercury in Aries. And the other person has Mars in Cancer and Mercury in Cancer. In synastry we have Mercury square Mercury and their Mars square my Mercury. My Mars doesn’t aspect their Mercury. It’s their Mars in Cancer that squares my Mercury in Aries.
