What does Venus conjunct vertex in synastry mean? My Venus conjuncts an interest's vertex with a 1 degree orb. Who affects who and how?------------------ Virgo Asc & Mars Gemini Sun Libra Moon Gemini Mercury Cancer Venus IP: Logged |

http://www.cafeastrology.com/vertex.html It is important to note that when romantic partners have conjunctions between one person's Vertex and the other person's personal planets (and/or going both ways), it doesn't necessarily mean the relationship is a blissful, "happily ever after" one. That is hardly the case. However, it does suggest a powerful connection. IP: Logged |

Yeah, read that one. I want to know how the Venus and vertex person are affected individually by the conjunction. Thanks for your reply though. ------------------ Virgo Asc & Mars Gemini Sun Libra Moon Gemini Mercury Cancer Venus IP: Logged |

Vertex is very sensitive to birth time, so you can't use it in a synastry/composite chart, if you've guessed the other person's birth time. In this case it's very likely that your Venus isn't conjunct her Vertex.IP: Logged |

As Jennifer Aniston would say, "here's the science bit":In the horoscopic chart, the astrological Vertex is calculated as being the point located at the intersection of the Ecliptic (path of the Sun) and the Prime Meridian, a plane that divides the celestial sphere into front and back. http://thezodiac.com/notworth.htm It's a calculated point on the chart, an axis. I don't know if we can properly speak of it as bringing planetary energy into a relationship. The whole of the above article is worth reading. The author likens the Vertex/Anti-Vertex to "Destiny's Gate" and considers it a sensitive spot on the chart. Then there is this previous Lindaland link: http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/009480.html Contributors to this thread suggest the Vertex Axis person is sensitive and receptive to the planetary energy brought in by the other person.
If we accept that, and it certainly makes sense to me, then the answer to your question is that the Vertex person is reponsive to the other person's Venusian energy. It's a spiritual link. IP: Logged |

Hey GG, From all that I've read about the Vertex, it's a sensitive point that brings people and events into your life when activated by a transit. If her birth time is correct and your Venus is conjunct, then it seems to indicate that with the right transit, a romantic relationship could start w/ her...or the transit has already happened and that's why you're into her now. Check out the transits for when you met or started noticing her. Here's more info. http://thezodiac.com/notworth.htm 8th IP: Logged |

EighthMoon, thanks! And thanks to everyone else for replying too! Here is another question. How fast does the vertex move through the sky? I mean, how fast does it change? Once an hour? Once a day? Etc? ------------------ Virgo Asc & Mars Gemini Sun Libra Moon Gemini Mercury Cancer Venus IP: Logged |

It moves faster than the Ascendant, so it really doesn't make any sense to use it on a hypothetical synastry chart. If your guess is more than ~5minutes off, it's useless. quote: How fast does the vertex move through the sky
Vertex is a theoretical point.

I am pretty sure the vertex moves at the same speed as all the angles (ASC, MC, etc). Which change every few mins as the earth rotates. It is no more theoretical than the ASC and MC which are calculated from various intersections of the meridian, ecliptic, prime vertical and other theoretical lines around the earth. It may be less fundamental in interpretation but all these points are calculated and do not have planetary bodies to signify their existence.IP: Logged |

"It is easy to see the speed of the Vertex relative to the Ascendant in that if they moved at the same speed they would always be in opposition. The Vertex travels (at very rough averaging) about 10 degrees per hour through the Zodiacal signs and at about 3 degrees per hour through the astrological houses."My English isn't good enough for me to talk about this in more detail, and it could be that we're talking about slightly different things here, but it doesn't change the fact that you shouldn't use Vertex unless you know the birth time. And by saying it is a theoretical point I meant that it doesn't physically travel up there in the sky, that's all.

Interesting. So the vertex travels faster than the ASC. My understanding was that all these points move at the speed the earth moves bec they are calculated in relation to the earth. The only thing moving is the earth so they all should move at the same rate.IP: Logged |

I've read that these energy placements like Vertex, Lilith, AC, DC etc have a more powerful influence because the matter doesn't exist, it is only concentrated energy. I completly agree with that. IP: Logged |

I checked the rate of travel of my Ascendant,Midheaven, and Vertex at the moment of my birthaccording to my Solar Fire: Ascendant - 293'01 per day Midheaven average 337'38 per day Vertex average 653'04 per day yep. Vertex moved almost twice as fast as the Midheaven IP: Logged |

"I've read that these energy placements like Vertex, Lilith, AC, DC etc have a more powerful influence because the matter doesn't exist, it is only concentrated energy. I completly agree with that."That can be said about the Nodes and Perigree/Apogee axis,Perihelion/Aphelion axis. BTW...Black Moon Lilith is the Lunar Apogee and the opposite point is the the Lunar Perigree. The Lunar Perigree/Apogee axis is based on the distance of the points of the Moon's orbit from the Earth. Gee is the suffix for Geocentric aka Earth Center. Perihelion/Aphelion is based on distnace of the point of an objects orbit from the Sun. Helion is the suffix for Heliocentric aka Earth Nodes are when orbital planes of 2 objects are in intersection. Picture 2 hula hoops entwined spinning together. The Ascendant/Descendant axis,Midheaven/Imum Coeli axis, and Vertex/Antivertex axis are like nodes as they are based on intersections between 2 planes. The Vertex/AntiVertex axis is the intersection of the Prime Vertical and Ecliptic The Ascendant/Descendant axis is the intersection of the Horizon and Ecliptic The Midheaven/Imum Coeli axis is the intersection of the Meridian and Ecliptic The Solstices and Equinoxes are based on the intersection of the celestial equator and ecliptic.
The Equinoxes are the Nodes of the ecliptic plane to the celestial equator.
a good discussion about interfaces by Michael Erlewine, creator of Matrix Astrology software
"Astrology is all about nodes. Nodes are sensitive points in the natal chart that can be interpreted. Obvious examples of nodes are the Nodes of the Moon. The Ascendant, Midheaven, Vertex and other sensitive horoscope points are nodes. The traditional twelve House Cusps are also nodes. Since most astrologers do not consider latitude when calculating aspects, even aspects are nodes. We may be familiar with the above nodes, but what about planetary nodes? What are they?" "I was interested to note that astrologers devote their attention to the zodiac or ecliptic, but seem to pay little or no attention to these other planes: the Horizon, Prime Vertical, and Celestial Equator. Astrologers seem not to grasp or care that points such as the Ascendant, MC, Vertex, etc. are not zodiac points alone, but are nodes representing the intersection of the zodiac with some other great plane. In fact, it takes two independent planes to create a node. This important fact seems to have been lost in modern astrology." http://lessons.astrology.com/course/show/Interface-Planetary-Nodes/3931-Interface I have Michael Erlewine's book,PLANETARY NODE INTERFACES, and it's rather abstract and so hard for me to understand. I'd need visual aids like videos for me to understand what he wrote in that book. here is stuff on Visual Astrology http://www.astrologysoftware.com/resources/vastrology/vastrology.asp?orig=

I very much agree with the notion that all the points need to be seen as axes. Thats why basing the house system on the MC as the 10th house cusp seems inappropriate to me as there are other critical axes which are not structurally part of the house system. IP: Logged |

I dated a girl last summer where my sun and merc conjuncted her vertex 2 and 1 degrees respectively. Our composite sun also conjuncted the vertex with 1 degree. How does astrology say I affected her? Our birth info. 6-15-78 @ 11:27 am EDT in new jersey. Her's is 2-15-84 @ 12:05 am EST in new jersey.Though we broke it off, she still calls me all the time. I feel as if she made some changes in her life, we could give it another shot. My mistake, the composite did not conjunct the sun, it was merc. ------------------ Virgo Asc & Mars Gemini Sun Libra Moon Gemini Mercury Cancer Venus IP: Logged |

I am curious where you learned this I would like to do more research on it. I find it hard to believe that an angle could be more powerful than a planet being an angle is just a point in space and nothing magnetic about it where as a planet has a magnetic pull. But I find it interesting enough to look deeper into your theory I am just curious where you came up with this prespective. IP: Logged |
