>> Practice Question #1: (Messages/Transport)

1. Will the mail arrive?
2. When will the mail arrive?

Answer both questions for the chart given.

*Add your delineations or just give your answers. Doesn't matter if you end up not getting it correct - it just matters that you give it a shot and learn.

* The answer has yet to reveal itself, but will be added below at a later date.

DETAILS surrounding the question:
- The mail was put in the mailbox the Tuesday March 17th in the morning. The delivery service indicates that it takes 4 business days to arrive, not including the day it was sent. Therefore it should have arrived Monday March 23rd. It did not arrive.
- The mail is filled with sensitive government documents. There are several letters bundled together in one large envelope.
- The receiver of the mail is the asker of the question. The sender is related via the 7th house.
- The physical distance the mail is traveling is about 1100 miles (1700km).

Thanks for your hard work, appleberry.I’ll have a try.

(I didn't have much time being here and also there is always troublesome to access linda-goodman since the last 2 weeks, I didn't read the hints provided by appleberry)

Venus is significator of the receiver of mail/querent. She is in the 7th house. I look at the third house for the mail. Its significator is Jupiter, which is retrograded. It shows there is some trouble, back and forth. Venus is square Jupiter, almost about 5 degrees, applying.

So, I think the querent/receiver will get the mail at last but there is difficulty because it is a square. Since it is nearly about 5 degrees in angular house, it might take almost about 5 days to get the mail.

< < < Answer > > >

The mail (sent the morning of Tuesday March 17th) arrived the morning of Tuesday March 24th, which is exactly 5 business days (or 7 days). It arrived in perfect condition.

Since the mail was expected on Friday, or Monday at the latest, the square showed some delay. There was mutual application between the significators because of the Rx, so that normally speeds things up. I am wondering if the Rx might have something to do with the fact that one of the papers inside needed to be signed and sent back.

@mollywu: Good Job! That was pretty bang on!

I am going to get a try again.

My significator Moon, is in 8th house, means worry and anxiety.
We should look at 12th house for toe’s significator. It is Mercury, combust and VOC. It is ruled by Mars. It describes the accident. But Mars is detriment in Taurus and Mercury is going to change its sign very soon.
So, I would say no, the toes isn’t broken.

For hospital treatment, I would like to look at 6th house, Jupiter is its significator. Moon is opposite Jupiter, separating. That probably means, if I went to hospital, it would cost me some money since Jupiter in 2nd house, which is unnecessary(no need to do that now). There is no aspect from Mercury to Jupiter, I would say no, no need to go for hospital for treatment.

^ Technically, you are supposed to be able to ask/answer any question in Horary...
The problem is most of us aren't at that level as readers, it seems...

From what I've learned as well, it's tough with some questions if they refer to the distant future. Free will allows for so much change over the course of time, that asking such a question could allow for too much change between asking and the result, allowing the intended outcome to change. At the point of asking, the result could have been a 'yes', but then circumstances over time force the actual answer to a 'no'...

Maybe you ask if you are going to have children some day and the result is 'yes' because you are fertile and willing, but then you may end up on a different path. Maybe you choose an infertile partner, lose your willingness due to finances or career, or something else happens to either cause you to be infertile, or you change your mind about having children.

The chart answer is only correct for that moment in time - which is why I guess it's hard for readers to be 100% correct (no control over free will). I think this is why most people only want to answer, and why it is advisable, to ask questions that will find their result within 3-6 months. [ETA: This is also why many readers won't read a chart with early degrees––because the chart is literally saying that things are likely to change significantly because things are incredibly early in the 'lifespan of the question'].

In terms of your next life, what if it's totally dependent upon what you do and don't accomplish in this lifetime? Charts like that are probably good for practice of symbolism, visualization and application of technique, but I don't think I could ever count on the result.

Answer to Practice No.3

My significator is Venus which is in 8th house, probably shows my anxiety.
Career’s significator is Moon which in 5th house, related to entertainment or job related to creation.
Venus is Square Moon about 1 degree, so timing is one month/year because in succedent house in mutable sigh.
I think the answer is more likely Yes, I will succeed in this career by this time next year, but need lots of efforts because it is Square.
But both Moon and Venus have hard aspects( the former is Square and the latter is Opposite) to retrograded Saturn which in 2nd house. I guess it means, this career will cost some money.

>> Practice Question #5 (Turned chart: Friend/Employment)

Question: Will my friend find a job soon? When?

Details/Notes:
- My friend asked me to do the chart for her, so the chart must be turned.
- She is specifically asking about career employment, a secure and long-term position.
- She is specifically looking for a job in sales or related (check which fixed star she is closest to–per the degrees of the 11th house cusp).

< < < Answer > > >

She was first offered a job from a friend (prior to asking this question). She then found a job shortly after this question was asked.

She found a job as a sales representative in software (social work software). She worked with them for about a year (from home) and has since been terminated from employment.

Venus (secondary significator when the two houses are represented by the same planet) was used for my friend, and Mercury for the job. Both were strong (when one is in its own sign, it is more protected from combustion and the via combusta). Venus, Mercury and Moon are all in houses they rule, so each is quite strong.

Mercury is about to hit the POF in 3 degrees. She was hired in 2.5 months from the question. She would have received her first paycheck in 3 months from the question.

Moon (my friend's friend) separates from Mercury (my friend's employment). She was offered an opportunity from a friend but turned it down, from what I understand.

The moons final aspect is with Venus, applying square 2˚ (delaying the perfection).

Her boss was a male, but the boss's ex-wife was my friend's trainer for the new job. The conflicts between them were quite intense and aggravating, (so @mollywu, yes there was a conflict with a female).

The AC was also trine Venus (4˚ . I think that was the point that her 'trial period' and training were complete and she was officially employed with the company.

The cusp of the 11th hits ZAVIJAVA. This fixed star represents: a good salesman (which she is) but someone of higher rank to give her the job (she has had her own business before but went bankrupt for lack of business sense in that manner).

Answer to Practice No.4

My significator is Mercury which is in 8th house; Taurus Moon is in 8th house too. They probably shows my anxiety to know if I will win or not.

We look at 5th house for gambling and lottery. There are two tickets I bought.

First ticket’s significator is Saturn, there is no aspect between Moon and Saturn, and no aspect between Mercury and Saturn, so I don't think I won at the first ticket.

Second ticket’s significator is Venus(5th house of 5th house). There is a mutual reception between Mercury and Venus at the same degree, Moon is exalted at Taurus, Venus is also applying trine Jupiter(good hope). I think the answer is Yes, I won some money at the second ticket, but I don’t know how much because I have no idea how to calculate it.

Answer to Practice No.5
We look at 11th house for the friend. Her significator is Mercury which is in her 12th house; Mercury is exalted in Virgo, good for her.
We look at 10th house for the career, so we should look at 9th house for her career, whose significator is Mercury too. Mercury is already used for her, so we use Moon to represent her career. Moon is in her place, Cancer, which is good. Mercury is Sexile Moon, separating in less than 1 degree. Moon is also Separating Jupiter. That means she has got the chance. Moon is Square Venus, applying. Venus is in 1st house. I guess there is a woman will bring difficulty to her in job in very near future. But Mercury is going to conjunct Part of Fortune too. This is a good sign.
So my answer is Yes, in less than a month(less than 1 degree in Cadent house), she will start to work, but she will meet problem which comes from a female.

Question: Will I receive the funding?

Details/Notes:

- The funding is government funding.
- The funding is specific to return to school.

The course of study relates to the 5th house. The funding is through a 10th house agency.

< < < Answer > > >

Well, the chart is 2˚... and the answer is still yet to come (in a sense). I was 'approved' to receive funding, but they have yet to 'approve' a course of study, so funding is yet to be received. Their reason for denial of the specific course relates to self-undoing/misunderstandings/confusion. They misunderstood how long the course would take to complete.

The course of study relates to the 5th house. The funding is through a 10th house agency.

Saturn is in the first house, so I would expect that it will be a long time coming or more likely never come. (Things like this are a big reason why I have the tendency to give up when I see Saturn in the first - it simply isn't worth the effort in the end. You work your butt off and only to think that you really just wasted your precious time for something that really didn't give you what you were working for anyway. The blessing of Saturn in the first is this kind of advice - so you don't waste your time and energy.)

There are many planets on the cusps:

- Mars on the 2nd (Lord of the AC, querent)
- Sun on the 11th (Lord of the 10th, government/authority/decision makers)
- Mercury on the 12th (Lord of the 11th, hopes; intercepted 8th, other people's money)
- Jupiter on the 10th (Lord of the 5th, creation/joy/hobbies; intercepted 2nd, finances/values)

At this point, I have to reapply with a different course to study.
