Can anybody tell me if Linda and Robert Brewer were reunited as in Gooberz? Also is he still a marine biologist and anyone know what happened to him?IP: Logged |

Welcome Gia.I think they were not, but I can't be sure. It's just something I think I recall reading here at LL. If you get a chance take a look at some of the threads here. Otherwise, I'm sure someone will come along who can accurately answer your quesion. IP: Logged |

Thanks Trillion,I tried looking through all the threads but didn't find a thing. I kept reading Gooberz over and over for clues. It's THAT particular REunion I find really interesting. Why after nine years? Alaska? Alone? So many????? If were a writer of stories, which I am. I have to ask why would I have waited so long to reunite my lovers, or reclaim some part of me that was so lost for so long? I understand that time is an illusion, so why nine years especially after telling us she'd almost given up hope? I have a strong gut feeling I'm missing an important link somewhere. Sounds really silly and I'm not even sure what I mean. However, it's really strong and it won't go away. I even had a dream about it which kind of confirms the fact I'm missing something valid here. Does Ruth still live in the house next door? I'm a Brit now living in California and a great Linda fan. I love this site. Gia. IP: Logged |

I met someone in 1999 who knows Robert Brewer. Robert and Linda did not get back together, according to the guy I met. I don't know if it is true, but the man (who was from Cripple Creek) said that Linda always set a place at the dinner table for Robert and for Sally in case they returned to her. He said that Robert was kind of creeped out by that. Also, according to the guy from Cripple Creek, Robert saw their whole romance in a distinctively different light than Linda did. He moved on long ago.IP: Logged |

Thanks Juni...I have missed you as well. You always bring a little more light to my day. I went off to an archaeological site for a week and when I came back Lindaland was in complete turmoil. There was talk of banning people, someone called DistantDrummer was raising havoc, folks posting in Global Unity had degenerated into personal insults and massive stereotyping (EXAMPLE: Conservatives get mad when people lie. Liberals get mad when people tell the truth.) It was all a bit much for me. I live in a beautiful, peaceful place among people who love and respect each other, even when their opinions differ. Coming to Lindaland and finding all that anger made me feel kind of sick at my stomach. So I decided to withdraw for a bit until sanity returned. It looks like things are much better here now. (But I think I'll completely avoid Global Unity from now on.) I do love coming here and hanging out with the Knowflakes, but I'm a peacelover, plain and simple, and I'll avoid anger and ugliness anytime I can. I think that is why I have always spent so much time with animals.IP: Logged |

Greetings...When I lived and worked with Linda, she and Robert did speak on the phone from time to time. In terms of setting a place for he and Sally, that did not happen whilst I was there, but I cannot speak to anything that may have happened before or after that time. Mostly what I knew was of them discussing the publication of his book, Robert Brewer's Captains. More than that I do not know, but I never heard talk of a reconcilliation or reunion while I was there. Hope that helps a bit. Blessings... Thanks Tink! Its nice to know people care. I guess that is why Lindaland is so special (and as Gia mentioned, so addictive).Aszelion...I always wondered whether that story about Linda setting extra places for Sally and Robert was true. I figured her life was a bit too busy for her to do that every night, but thought perhaps it was something she might have done on special occasions. I wish I could remember that guy's name from Cripple Creek. You might have met him. I'm sure it will come to me. IP: Logged |

Greetings...I think Captains was published.. you could do a search on alibris or amazon to know for sure. FishKitten... Linda may have set those places on special occasions, but when I knew her she rarely ate in the kitchen.. usually it was on a tv tray in the office or the living room. But as I say, I was only there for a short while... Does the name Geoff Andromeda ring any bells, FishKitten? In the Light... Geoff Andromeda...nope, that wasn't it. for some reason the name Dumas (pronounced Doomas) comes to mind, but I'm not sure if it was a first or last name or even if it is exactly correct. I meet so many people in my travels, sometimes it is hard to keep track of everyone. The man was a writer and sent me a couple of his books, mostly cowboy poetry, but I have misplaced them. I'm sure they are packed away somewhere in my stuff. I'm sure they will turn up eventually. IP: Logged |

I know a writer by the name of Dumas. He lives about twenty miles from Boston. I can't remember the name of the place but it's where they filmed that Jack Nicholson movie about those wiches from Eastwick. He's now negotiating selling his latest to be made into a film. It's a scince fiction story. Could this be the same guy?

Hi Gia. It is certainly possible that the Dumas you mention is the same guy. I only met him one time when he passed through a National Historic Site where I was doing an archaeological inventory on some steamship artifacts. At that time (about 5 years ago or so) he was very, for lack of a better term, cowboyish. He would definitely stick out in Massechusetts. I still haven't gotten around to looking for the books he sent me. I'm sure they will turn up soon.IP: Logged |

I went to the downstairs closet today to look for my black boots. When I opened the door, a book popped off the top shelf and landed in my hand. It was one by the guy I was talking about. His name is Dayton Lummis. I guess my mind just sort of crammed it together into Dumas. IP: Logged |
