For the resident Immortals, have you given thought to if/when you will get a new identity? In today's internet age, it's easy to do. What's your opinion on it? It sounds cool. Choose a new name, a new birth date, and create a new personna. IP: Logged |

funny you should bring this up now... we're waiting until we can physically move to a place where no one knows us - possibly another five years... we are planning on moving trans-continent but haven't really given thought to any of the fine details yet... ------------------ “Believe none of what you hear and half of what you see.” B.Franklin IP: Logged |

Cool beans! Are you exploring ways to create the new identity and get on the grid, so to speak?IP: Logged |

I wonder if it's appropriate to post the methods for creating an identity here on the Forums?------------------ "Cooking is like love. It should be entered into with abandon or not at all." Harriet Van Horne IP: Logged |

to be honest, there is a rather huge chunk of me that would much prefer to fly completely under the radar... i'm almost able to do that now by being self-employed and not constantly having to fill out gov't type forms i really like the idea of just floating anonymously through this world... however, i did take a look awhile ago at links YOU provided with the information needed to change ones identity formally... as for your offer of mod-ship - can i take a moment to mull it over? you did a very non-cappy thing there by springing it on me outta the blue like ------------------ “Believe none of what you hear and half of what you see.” B.Franklin IP: Logged |

have you made plans Randall? or are you just gonna play it by ear? edit - thought it over and i'm okay with your offer, if you're still looking for a mod... the forum is quite slow so i think i can handle it ( famous last words ) ------------------ “Believe none of what you hear and half of what you see.” B.Franklin IP: Logged |

I'm going to play it by ear. Since I don't have a wife or kids, I can make a rather smooth transition into another life. But should that change in the coming years, then it would be tougher to transition. ------------------ "Cooking is like love. It should be entered into with abandon or not at all." hhmm, yes i think you're right about it being more of a challenge with a family... although i would assume that anyone you chose to have a family with would be in complete agreement with you - home schooling your children would alleviate that aspect of it...

Yeah, and compulsory education is a myth anyway. You have home schooling that is regulated and then just not registering the kids at all. It's only compulsory once you register them the first time. ------------------ "Cooking is like love. It should be entered into with abandon or not at all." Harriet Van Horne IP: Logged |

Although, I do believe in public schooling. I think (coupled with grounding at home), a child can have enriching experiences and learn about interacting with others while retaining individualism without becoming too indoctrinated.------------------ "Cooking is like love. i'm not completely sure where i stand on public schooling... i am noticing a rather systematic "dumbing down" effect happening here with the majority of students... as an example, some schools allow the kids to start using calculators as early as grade four to do basic multiplication and division... some schools won't even start aforementioned until grade six... by the time they reach a collegiate level the majority of these now young adults possess no critical thinking skills what-so-ever because they have never had to... i also have major issues with what schools will tolerate and what they won't - here again there doesn't seem to be any sort of agreement even between schools within the same county... ------------------ “Believe none of what you hear and half of what you see.” B.Franklin IP: Logged |

Would you pick a date with a cool looking natal chart? Heheh. Maybe if you always wanted to be a Leo sun, you'd pick a bday in August? IP: Logged |

I changed my full name, several years ago. First and last. My old name wasn't necessarily offensive. It was just a compulsion I felt--an irritation over several years when I was doing a lot of meditation and expansion--that it was 'limiting.' My new name is quite unique. It gives me a big space to 'expand' into. It was a very personal decision. It is a big step. It is still a challenge. Sometimes I feel like Prince, when he changed his name to a symbol; and people could only manage to call him "the artist formerly known as Prince." lol I utilized numerology (additionally there is some family meaning in it), aided by the Kabalarian services: http://www.kabalarian.com/ The more you look into it, of how the energies of one's name(s) define us, the more it seems almost a crime that we each don't get to choose our own names. It should be a right-of-passage of sorts. ...When I was researching, I recall reading that in ancient Jewish tradition, if someone wanted to transform, perhaps in the sense of changing one's fortune in life, one should change one's name. I'm seriousy concidering changing my last name to my mum's maiden name (my bro did it too). It's something I've wanted to do for ages, just never got around to actually doing it. The reason? Symbolically it would my way of cutting ties with my past and dad.Changing location is never a problem for me (loves to travel). ------------------ quote: Remember, love can conquer the influences of the planets....It can even eliminate karma.
