Tori! ****** Thick as Thieves by Natalie Merchant remember how it all began the apple and the fall of man the price we paid so the people say down a path of shame it led us dared to bite the hand that fed us the fairy tale the moral end the wheel of fortune never turns again the worst of it has come and gone in the chaos of millennium in the falling out of the doomsday crowd their last retreat is moving slow they burn their bridges as they go the heretic is beatified he'll teach the harlot's child to smile wracked again by indecision should we make that small incision testify to the bleeding heart inside? we cut, we scratched we rent, we slashed and when he opened up at last found a cul-de-sac deep and black of smoke and ash the wicked king of parody is kissing all his enemies on the seventh day of the seventh week the tyrant's voice is softer now but just for one forgiving hour before the rise of his iron fist again I've come tonight I've come to know the way we are the way we'll go come to measure this the width of the wide abyss I come to you in restless sleep where all your dreams turn bittersweet with voodoo doll philosophies and day-glow holy trinities the crooked raft that leaves the shore ferries drunken souls aboard pilgrims march to Compestela visions of their saint in yellow all follow deep in trance lost in a catatonic dance know no future damn the past blind, warm, ecstatic safe at last ... I'm not as familiar with Fiona, but the lyrics you posted are... compelling.I think I've posted this before, but now is now: Naomi - Neutral Milk Hotel Your prettiness is seeping through Out from the dress I took from you, so pretty....
And my emptiness is swollen shut Always a wretch i have become So empty..... And please, please, don't leave me.... I'm watching Naomi, full bloom I'm hoping she will soon explode Into one billion tastes and tunes One billion angels come and hold her down They hold her down until she cries And I'm tasting Naomi's perfume It tastes like sh!t and I must say She comes and goes most afternoons One billion lovers wave and love her now They could love her now, and so could I There is no Naomi in view She walks through Cambridge stocks and strolls And if she only really knew One billion angels could come and save her soul They could save her soul until she shines So pretty And please, please, don't leave me. Everything Is - Neutral Milk Hotel Growing sleepy as the rain falls As children draped in flowers form a chain They sing a song with jelly jars and bird calls As night falls into dust and it's day again
I'm not afraid of a love parade in my daydream Old men with kazoos and beating drums But I awake and I see the streets are ice cream It's just you and me and oh dear, our life has just begun Everything is beautiful here It's spinning circles around my ears I'm finally breaking free from fear And it's fading Oh beautiful smiles, won't you stay awhile We could close the door and sleep all day It's a September sky with pretty pictures in my mind That's lost its feeling of so afraid Everything is beautiful here It's spinning circles around my ears I'm finally breaking free from fear And it's fading Grown sleepy now as the rain falls As children draped in flowers form a chain They sing a song with jelly jars and bird calls As night falls into dust and it's day again Everything is beautiful here It's spinning circles around my ears I'm finally breaking free from fear And it's fading IP: Logged |

king of carrot flowers -- neutral milk hotel When you were young You were the king of carrot flowers And how you built a tower tumbling through the trees In holy rattlesnakes that fell all around your feet
And your mom would stick a fork right into daddy's shoulder And dad would throw the garbage all across the floor As we would lay and learn what each other's bodies were for And this is the room One afternoon I knew I could love you And from above you how I sank into your soul Into that secret place where no one dares to go And your mom would drink until she was no longer speaking And dad would dream of all the different ways to die Each one a little more than he could dare to try

Love Will See You Through - Daniel Johnston If you got a girl you should treat her kind Always give a loving sign to let her know Take her out onto the town, you could be a funny clown If she wants to laugh
‘Cause love will see you through It’s got to make things new The future could be good You’ve got to and you should Suddenly she misunderstands Takes her tears and then she ran down the hall Promise her anything, wedding ring, anything Before she goes ‘Cause love will see you through It’s got to make things new The future could be good You’ve got to and you should You could have some kids Just like dad and mommy did so long ago But tomorrows could be so bright Way out, way out of sight if you’re wise Cause love will see you through It’s got to make things new The future could be good You’ve got to and you should Always keep your heart in tune Don’t leave bad habits laying around for her to see Always do the best you can And you’ll be a happy man, wait and see Cause love will see you through It’s got to make things new The future could be good You’ve got to and you should Cause love will see you through It’s got to make things new The future could be good You’ve got to and you should

This song is cutting me like a knife right now...I LOVE it.Older Chests Lyrics Damien Rice Older chests reveal themselves Like a crack in a wall Starting small, and grow in time And we always seem to need the help Of someone else To mend that shelf Too many books Read me your favourite line
Papa went to other lands And he found someone who understands The ticking, and the western man's need to cry He came back the other day, you know Some things in life may change And some things They stay the same Like time, there's always time On my mind So pass me by, I'll be fine Just give me time Older gents sit on the fence With their cap in hand Looking grand They watch their city change Children scream, or so it seems, Louder than before Out of doors, and into stores with bigger names Mama tried to wash their faces But these kids they lost their graces And daddy lost at the races too many times She broke down the other day, yeah you know Some things in life may change But some things they stay the same Like time, there's always time On my mind So pass me by, I'll be fine Just give me time Time, there's always time On my mind Pass me by, I'll be fine Just give me time IP: Logged |

Eleanor, Ohhhh Natalie Merchant! Her voice is so genuine and I think she has a New York state accent that I love. Have you listened to her version of "Peace Train"?Stephen, sometimes when I hear Jeff Mangum's voice and lyrics things finally make sense. Thank you for reminding me. IP: Logged |

You're welcome. I'm glad you like him, too. Nico "These Days"
I've been out walking I don't do too much talking These days, these days. These days I seem to think a lot About the things that I forgot to do And all the times I had the chance to.
I've stopped my rambling, I don't do too much gambling These days, these days. These days I seem to think about How all the changes came about my ways And I wonder if I'll see another highway. I had a lover, I don't think I'll risk another These days, these days. And if I seem to be afraid To live the life that I have made in song It's just that I've been losing so long. La la la la la, la la. I've stopped my dreaming, I won't do too much scheming These days, these days. These days I sit on corner stones And count the time in quarter tones to ten. Please don't confront me with my failures, I had not forgotten them.

No, I haven't had the pleasure, adrienne. I'll definitely have to track it down. Thank you! I do agree her voice is genuine. There's just a feeling behind her voice that really gets to me. Is it a New York accent? I was wondering if it was just her singing style as I haven't heard her speak much. IP: Logged |

Well, I was going to post this one Sunday, but I didn't want to change the tone, but now it fits right in! I've got a candle, And I've got a spoon I live in a hallway With no doors and no rooms Under the window sill They all were found A touch of concrete within a doorway Without a sound
Chorus: Someone save me if you will And take away all these pills And please just save me, if you can From the blasphemy in my wasteland How did I get here And what went wrong Couldn't handle forgiveness Now I'am far beyond gone And I can hardly remember The look of my own eyes How could I love this A life so dishonest It made me compromise Chorus Jump in the water Jump in with me Jump on the altar Lay down with me My hardest question To answer is WHY!!! Chorus Some one save me (x3) Somebody save me Somebody save me Please don't erase me ~Shinedown My favorite Shinedown song next... Send away for a priceless gift One not subtle, one not on the list Send away for a perfect world One not simply, so absurd In these times of doing what you're told You keep these feelings, no one knows What ever happened to the young man's heart Swallowed by pain, as he slowly fell apart And I'm staring down the barrel of a 45, Swimming through the ashes of another life No real reason to accept the way things have changed Staring down the barrel of a 45 Send a message to the unborn child Keep your eyes open for a while In a box high up on the shelf, left for you, no one else There's a piece of a puzzle known as life Wrapped in guilt, sealed up tight What ever happened to the young man's heart Swallowed by pain, as he slowly fell apart And I'm staring down the barrel of a 45, Swimming through the ashes of another life No real reason to accept the way things have changed Staring down the barrel of a 45 Everyone's pointing their fingers Always condemning me And nobody knows what I believe I believe And I'm staring down the barrel of a 45, Swimming through the ashes of another life No real reason to accept the way things have changed Staring down the barrel of a 45

I've never heard this song, but somebody just sent me these lyrics, and they are poignant for me right now. Fooling Yourself (The Angry Young Man) by Tommy Shaw
You see the world through your cynical eyes You're a troubled young man I can tell You've got it all in the palm of your hand But your hand's wet with sweat and your head needs a rest
And you're fooling yourself if you don't believe it You're kidding yourself if you don't believe it Why must you be such an angry young man When your future looks quite bright to me How can there be such a sinister plan That could hide such a lamb, such a caring young man You're fooling yourself if you don't believe it You're kidding yourself if you don't believe it Get up, get back on your feet You're the one they can't beat and you know it Come on, let's see what you've got Just take your best shot and don't blow it You're fooling yourself if you don't believe it You're killing yourself if you don't believe it Get up, get back on your feet You're the one they can't beat and you know it Come on, let's see what you've got Just take your best shot and don't blow it IP: Logged |

Wasted Years -> Iron MaidenFrom the coast of gold, across the seven seas, I'm travelling on, far and wide, But now it seems, I'm just a stranger to myself, And all the things I sometimes do, it isn't me but someone else. I close my eyes, and think of home, Another city goes by, in the night, Ain't it funny how it is, you never miss it til it's gone away, And my heart is lying there and will be til my dying day. Chorus: So understand Don't waste your time always searching for those wasted years, Face up...make your stand, And realise you're living in the golden years. Too much time on my hands, I got you on my mind, Can't ease this pain, so easily, When you can't find the words to say, it's hard to make it through another day, And it makes me wanna cry, and throw my hands up to the sky. Chorus: So understand Don't waste your time always searching for those wasted years, Face up...make your stand, And realise you're living in the golden years. ------------------ Welcome to my blog The Rechargehouse! I'm Falling for YouHoly cow I think I've got one here Now just what am I supposed to do? I've got a number of irrational fears That I'd like to share with you First there's rules about old goats like me Hanging around with chicks like you But I do like you And another one: you say 'like' too much But I'm shakin at your touch I like you way too much My baby I'm afraid I'm falling for you I'd do about anything to get the hell out alive Or maybe I would rather settle down with you Holy moly baby wouldn't you know it Just as I was bustin' loose I gotta go turn in my rock star card And get fat and old with you 'cause I'm a burning candle You're a gentle moth Teaching me to lick a little bit kinder And I do like you you're the lucky one No I'm the lucky one Chorus Holy sweet goddam you left your cello in the basement I admired the glowing stars And tried to play a tune I can't believe how bad I suck it's true What could you possibly see in little ol' 3-chord me? But I do like you and you like me too I'm ready let's do it baby --Weezer (1996) IP: Logged |

It's all the same, only the names will change Everyday it seems we're wasting away Another place where the faces are so cold I'd drive all night Just to get back homeI'm a cowboy, on a steel horse I ride I'm wanted dead or alive Wanted dead or alive Sometimes I sleep, sometimes it's not for days And the people I meet always go their separate ways Sometimes you tell the day By the bottle that you drink And times when you're alone and all you do is think I'm a cowboy, on a steel horse I ride I'm wanted dead or alive Wanted dead or alive I'm a cowboy, on a steel horse I ride I'm wanted dead or alive Wanted dead or alive I walk these streets, a loaded six string on my back I play for keeps, 'cause I might not make it back I been everywhere, still I'm standing tall I've seen a million faces And I've rocked them all I'm a cowboy, on a steel horse I ride I'm wanted dead or alive I'm a cowboy, I got the night on my side I'm wanted dead or alive Wanted dead or alive ~Bon Jovi

I spent 20 years trying to get out of this place I was lookin' for something I couldn't replace I was runnin' away from the only thing I've ever known And like a blind dog without a bone I was a gypsy lost in the twilight zone I hijacked a rainbow and crashed into a pot of gold
I've been there, done that, I ain't lookin' back The seeds I've sown, saving dimes, spending too much time on the telephone Who says you can't go home Who says you can't go home There's only one place they call me one of their own Just a hometown boy, born a Rolling Stone Who says you can't go home Who says you can't go back, been all around the world and as a matter of fact There's only one place left I want to go Who says you can't go home It's alright, it's alright, it's alright, it's alright, it's alright I went as far as I could, I tried to find a new face There isn't one of these lines that I would erase I left a million miles of memories on that road And every step I take, I know that I'm not alone You take the home from the boy, but not the boy from his home These are my streets, the only life I've ever known Who says you can't go home Who says you can't go home There's only one place they call me one of their own Just a hometown boy, born a Rolling Stone Who says you can't go home Who says you can't go back, been all around the world and as a matter of fact There's only one place left I want to go Who says you can't go home [Guitar Solo] It doesn't matter where you are, doesn't matter where you go If it's a million miles aways or just a mile up the road Take it in, take it with you when you go Who says you can't go home Who says you can't go back, been all around the world and as a matter of fact There's only one place left I want to go Who says you can't go home It's alright, it's alright, it's alright, it's alright,it's alright Who says you can't go home It's alright, it's alright, it's alright, it's alright,it's alright Who says you can't go home It's alright, it's alright, it's alright, it's alright.it's alright Who says you can't go home ~Bon Jovi IP: Logged |

More pretty... NORAH JONES LYRICS "Those Sweet Words" What did you say I know I saw you singing My ears won't stop ringing Long enough to hear Those sweet words What did you say End of the day The hour hand has spun Before the night is done I just have to hear Those sweet words Spoken like a melody All your love Is a lost balloon Rising up through the afternoon 'Til it could fit on the head of a pin Come on in Did you have a hard time sleeping 'Cause a heavy moon was keeping me awake And all I know is I'm just glad to see you again See my love Like a lost balloon Rising up through the afternoon And then you appear What did you say I know you were singing My ears won't stop ringing Long enough to hear Those sweet words And your simple melody I just have to hear Your sweet words Spoken like a melody I just wanna hear Those sweet words IP: Logged |

Hande Yener - Kibir (Vanity) From her new album! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gsOMLNPRp6Y Everybody Dance Now!Words translated... (Goes for those who are victims of Vanity) I victimized, misused many times Harmed deadly, forgive me. Human is strange, so rough What a masterpiece, so primitive How suprising! Vanity lies in ambush like a monster Just like a volcano, sacrifices hearts In the arms of Morpheus. She is desirous for love, And he is ambitious for victory. Not even afraid of anything. I must burn, burn and burn. And proceed so much more. Have to give up from myself, How difficult!

This gorgeous Gerbils song was dedicated to me the other day by an equally gorgeous man. He dedicated the Neutral Milk Hotel version of course:She comes to me Whenever I am locked inside my room Buried in the tune that I call love She sings to me, the words I cannot hear But then, the melody's so clear it makes me cry Her love is so beautiful Her love is so real, it smells like glue She's leaving me to find a place she never will call home I stand shaking like a stone And smile inside She's calling me to come to her and curl inside her womb I hear lies, acid too But I won't die, the pain is so beautiful The urge is so real, it smells like glue And I will scream, she hears me I will tell myself she loves me And all the lies and fears Will stick to me like glue And I will scream, she hears me I will tell myself she loves me And all the lies and fears Will stick to me like glue IP: Logged |

The Police "So Lonely" Well someone told me yesterday That when you throw your love away You act as if you don't care You look as if you're going somewhere
But I just can't convince myself I couldn't live with no one else And I can only play that part And sit and nurse my broken heart So lonely So lonely So lonely So lonely So lonely So lonely So lonely So lonely So lonely So lonely So lonely So lonely Now no one's knocked upon my door For a thousand years or more All made up and nowhere to go Welcome to this one man show Just take a seat they're always free No surprise no mystery In this theatre that I call my soul I always play the starring role So lonely So lonely So lonely So lonely So lonely So lonely So lonely So lonely So lonely So lonely So lonely So lonely (guitar solo) So lonely So lonely So lonely So lonely So lonely So lonely So lonely Lonely, I'm so lonely I feel so alone I feel low I feel so Feel so low I feel low, low I feel low, low, low I feel low, low, low I feel low, low, low I feel low, low, low I feel low, low, low Low, I feel low I feel low I feel low I feel so lonely I feel so lonely I feel so lonely, lonely, lonely, lone Lonely, lone I feel so alone, yeah So lonely...
