LostinaStrangeworld... what blood type are you and your family members? My Father is O Negative (Rh being Negative) and my mother is O Positive (but carries the gene for O Negative as well) We inherit two copies and those individuals that carry two copies of RH negative will end up being Negative. In your situation, you would have to have one member of each carrying the Negative gene. You inherited one from mom and one from dad, thus making your type rare. I inherited the O Positive from my mom (but I have the negative gene from my dad as he carries two copies - just like you do). My brother inherited one O -Neg from mom and one O Neg from dad and he is also O Negative. My Fiance is A +. When we have kids they will most likely be AO Positive blood type as he as two copies of A and I have two copies of O (I know he only has A because his father is AA and his mother is AB) Blood type and factor is very weird, but interesting..and oddly enough - even dogs have Rh factors that have to be considered when getting blood transfusions. Hi again, Pidaua! How are you? I think I'm getting addicted to LL, lol!I don't know who carrys the reccessive genes in my family. I didn't know what my blood group was until I was pregnant with my little boy. I was quite surprised when the midwife explained to me the implications of being 'A' negative. So I went on the net to do some more research and found all this stuff on the theory that it could be evidence of aliens tampering with our genes in the distant past.....!!!!! From an anthropological point of view, the rhesus negative blood seems to originate from the Basque people...perhaps.. as this is where the most people have it. How interesting! It looks like a puzzle that needs fixing, to me!! My mother is 'A' positive and my father is '0' positive. My son is also 'O' positive, like his Dad... Its funny that I should lack this rhesus factor in my blood (first discovered in the rhesus monkey) when I have such an affinity for monkeys! lol That year, when I was pregnant, my oldest brother sent me a birthday card in which he wrote, "Trust you to be 'A' negative" LMAO! 'A negative' !! I didn't even get that straight away! Tut! Rainbow, thankyou many times again for sending the pictures of you and your BEAUTIFUL family! It shows what great warmth, how open and friendly you are. I was too afraid to send pictures before! What a cynical world we live in! But you're not like that- you're a rainbow!
LOve and Peace, kindred spirits! P.S. Thorshammer- what is it with you?! You make me into a right chatterbox! LOL! IP: Logged |

nove, you got 'A' in biology? You must be very intelligent! Very clever! I enjoyed biology but not physics or maths.....fave subjects were art & english...Leoelf, if you're still about, did you post those pics you were on about? I feel like I'm getting better aquainted with you fellow beings in this astral bar! (What the heck is a 'pollo conz promo', lol?!). Oh, man! You know, whenever I listen to The Beatles or The Doors... Jefferson Airplane, etc- I feel as if I was a hippy in a past life! But not this life, lol.....Still, some of the vibes are imprinted in me! Time travel would be great! Has anybody seen 'Play it again, Sam'? Woody Allen is hilarious. Pure genious. Is that jewish humour? Linda said she liked jewish people. Albert Einstein had a magic twinkle in his eyes..... Thanks for the compliments on my mom and dad.....they were very good people too....He a Cancer, she a Virgo... My mom had eight children, four of whom died in infancy....due, we were told, to the Rh negative blood.... IP: Logged |

Yes..I would say that both your parents are carrying the Rh negative factor. Here is something else that is funny.. My father's family is Spanish (near the Basque province) and Apache. My mother may have inherited hers from her Father, who's mother was a full blood (or possibly mixed with Spanish) Cherokee. It was VERY common for children to die because of the Rh and Blood type differences. For example - if my blood mixes with my babies (and the baby will almost assurdly be A type) the next child could kill me or my body would cause it to abort as it would be considered a foreign object (gotta love the mysteries of the body..and yes, my background / education is in Biology / Chemistry). Now they have a shot that is given post birth that will keep the mother's body from rejecting subsequent pregnancies. Now RH Factor is not named because we inherited it from non-human primates. IT is so named because that is where we learned that it existed in an experiment. A researcher in the 40's found that taking blood from a monkey and injecting into a rabbit caused a specific antigenic reaction. They then used the same thing on human blood and rabbit serum and found the same results (the same is the case with canine blood) Research found that there were specific proteins or a lack of the protein on various blood cells. It gets even stickier when you add in blood type. I can donate to all blood groups that are RH positive. But I can only receive from O Negative or O Positive. O Negative can give to EVERYBODY and AB+ is the universal recipient. Do I believe it came from Aliens? No, and that is the Scientist talking. I believe it is an evolutionary trait that enabled specific populations to thrive in various geographical areas. IP: Logged |

That's fascinating! Keep talking! Why do you believe that it is an evolutionary trait that allowed people to live in specific geographical areas? That's fascinating. Yes, I read a bit about the blood groups, and was fascinated by the fact that 0- blood types are compatible with all blood types. I didn't know that AB+ was the universal recipient. How very interesting. Anthropology and biology are SUCH fascinating subjects! IP: Logged |

I believe it is similar to why specific populations develop natural immunities to various diseases. I am always intrigued by things of that nature. Take for example the African (and African American) population that has sickle cell anemia. Their cells are resistent to malaria. Plasmodium - the organism that causes malaria - is specific to the shape of the red blood cell. In sickle cell the RBC's are shaped like a bit of a disk. The organism passes it by because it can't bond to it. I found something you might find interesting on blood types: Blood type is inherited, just like eye color. Certain blood types are more common in certain countries. In China, over 99% of the population has Rh+ blood. Different kinds of animals have different kinds of blood. Dogs have 4 blood types; cats have 11; cows have about 800. Some people think blood type tells about personality. Legend has it that Type A is calm and trustworthy; Type B is creative and excitable; Type AB is thoughtful and emotional; and Type O is a confident leader. In Japan, the idea of blood type as personality type is so popular that Japanese ask “What's your blood type?” about as often as Americans ask “What's your sign?” In America 37% are O+, 6% are O-, 34% are A+, 6% are A-, 10% are B+, 2% are B-, 4% are AB+ and only 1% is A-

Thankyou, Pidaua. It's fascinating.I don't agree with the Japanese in that blood types can help you tell a person's personality, do you? Although I am trustworhy, I would say I'm quite a bit of the other types' given characteristics. I wouldn't say I'm particularly calm.....(!) Heh heh. I've a lot of Libra in me, in that I love peace, but with the Gemini sun/Libra moon I'm quite 'creative and excitable'. I'm also very emotional, which means that mastering my temper is One of the greatest lessons I'm trying to teach myS-elf in life ...(!) I can be "so mean, I make medicine sick"! LMAO- Mohammed Ali. So, there you have it. I'm more for astrology; it's less general. However, it's a wonderful concept. I never tire of hearing about other cultures and their beliefs. It's wonderful. So.....We're quite rare then, we RH negative beings?! That's good.....it's nice to be special in SOME way. Especially me with that 1%, LOL(!!).....(Not really, sniff, sniff!). Love & Peace

so i am a confident leader huh??? i wonder if i should start my campaign for President...I could beat Hilary...lol.Pidaua, U just got it gong on kid. I love the intellects on LL...lol. I have the sickle Cell trait, which for those of you that dont know is like a signature trait for the disease Sickle Cell Anemia that can kill ya. so basically when i was a child my mom told me that if I met a black girl or someone that lived below the cancer eqauator, I would have to ask them if they had the TRAIT, because if i had babies with them, there was a 75 percent chance they would get the disease. One of my best friends has it, his mother had the trait and his father the disease..he had no chance at all. he is six months older than me. When i was in the US Navy, it was stated that the adverage life span of someone with SICKLE Cell Anemia was 38 years old. thank goodness in this day and age, they can put new blood in the person and slow down the process, my friend takes pills like a HIV person..there all over the place, plus his immune system is weaker. sometimes you can tell he is just sick of living, but he goes on. his left collarbone is dead, from lack of nutrients and so forth. he has all the symtoms of a Sickle cell anemia kid. usually the babies have convulsions and such. horrible disease. My first son...Moises didnt have the trait, but my daughter Isabella has it, and they are 8 years apart. so I have to tell her that if she meets THE ONE when she gets order she must ask him if he has Sickle Cell Trait, ironically I never thought about the whole thing..probably because I have always dated outside of my race, but as i got older and started to date inside again..i thought"man i have to sit with this person and one days say, "oh by the way, I have the Trait....do you?!" I have onlyn had to ask one person that, and it was so hard, because i really liked her and i thought what if she has the trait and i fall in love with her, we couldnt have kids. but that didnt happen..i mean she didnt have the trait, but i am not with her either...lol Isabella's mother is Scottish decent, but the trait dominates,,which means bella will be a devil like me...lol there was a book out that said the disease originated from the changing of african and african american diet. since africans before they came to america didnt eat pork and such..so scholars beleive once this was introduced to the diet...it changed the blood....Pidaua's theory seems true to me though. Pidaua, when you write your scientific books,,i want a autographed copy kiddo..lol IP: Logged |

Thorshammer, Wow.. I have never met anyone with the SC trait. I have had alot of African American friends over the years too.. but it has always intrigued me about heredity and disease. I love the names of your children - especially Isabella, which happens to be one of THE names I would have for a daughter. It sounds like you have had quite a life- amazing Thank you for your compliments. I am really not all that brainy...some things just stuck Should I write a book..I will definitely send you a signed copy!!! IP: Logged |

High school biology is easy. Just very boring. Hahahaha. I go to an arts school. Biology here is kind of lax. Science and math in general are. We basically consider math to be a joke. You can just not show up for all but one class, and still pass. Haha, that rhymed. IP: Logged |

Pidaua, it doesnt affect me or do anything to me at all. in fact I think i have super powers with it..lol. just sitting there in the body, not bothering anyone.. kinda reminded me of the program i saw the other day on PBS on syphilis, all those years it was thought that it came from native brothas and sista, but they found it in Europe, in england and then greece and so on. and they found out that it was a disease that had been around forever, in Europe it was fatal, but in the americas and the islands it was just a skin rash and the people were immune to the deadly virus of syphilis....until Columbo came, then the bodies changed of the natives to were they lost their immunity from the deadly virus and had the same affects as the europeans..so I think your right about regions DR. !!!! Rainbow the picture of your daugther with Irene Beddard, is Irene playing in that mini series on TNT called INTO THE WEST, it looks like the same woman in that show. let me know sweet friend. My doctor told me last year that I am RH-. I don't entirely believe him because I would think someone would have told me before now. I always thought I was A+. But they had to give me a shot after my miscarriage.hrmph. Anyway - my grandmother on my mother's side tells us her father was Cherokee Indian. I don't know, though. I can see it in her. IP: Logged |

Without sounding blasphemous, !OH MY GOD! Yesterday, my boyfriend came over and brought with him a programme he had recorded many years ago called 'A Walk in The Sacred Manor'. This is a documentary which shows various scenes of lushious green wilderness and photographs of Indians.....a narrator spoke in a calm voice- collective words of wisdom from Indian Chiefs, various tribes......Are there words to describe how I felt as I watched this earthmoving book of the Indigenous American soul? Thanks Pidua for the info. on blood types. I'm O - the universal donor I believe. I found out when I was pregnant, its a routine test to protect your baby. Apparently, if the baby has Rh+, your body builds antibodies which will attack future pregnancies, seeing the embyro as foreign. Thats the reason you get a shot during pregnancy, after delivery, and after an abortion or miscarriage.I attribute my bloodtype to my Basque grandfather His wife, my grandmother was a Nahutal Indian from Colima, MX. Unfortunatly, they both passed on before I was born so I never met them. However, people always say I look like my gran or that I look native which is a very good compliment IP: Logged |
