I know this may seem a stupid question, but I was born in 1983. So what generation am I then? And why is it called that particular generation? What are the other generations you get?

You're the generation aftfer "generation X" which is my generation, which is roughly people born between 1965 and the late 70's. I've heard that generation called generation Y, but I don't know why it's called that aside from the obvious "Y follows X" notion. The traits about Gen Y seems to be that they are more conservative than my generation (things like family values, abstinence, adhereing to tradition and convention are for more important to them to than to us) and have been touted as being more motivated and ambitious than us "slackers" (but I doubt that's very universally true). Also, gen Y have grown up with technology that was very new even to my generation - PCs, the Internet, cell phones, video games, etc.

I am a part of Generation Y. People born between 1981 and 1995 are known as the Gen.Y.
We are also known as the Echo boomers and Millennium Generation.

Are people born from 1996 to now, known as the .Com generation? Heard they were.
Or they could be known as Generation Z.

Anyone?

Eco boomers... uh, yeah I watched something on 60 minutes about that generation which I seem to belong to yet don't seem to fit in to... It acctually made me kinda mad because I'm the polar opposite of everything that it said about us... Everyone always said I should have been born in the 60's anyway.

Now, ya see, though, Yang - that doesn't help me out.
I've also heard that Gen X stops @ 77-79 sometime (born in 80)
