I'm not saying that change can happen effortlessly just by imagining what we want and believing it so. That is just a part of it. It takes time, energy and focus- the trinity of mind, body and soul.

Swerve,
quote:
I was a vegetarian for 9 years and now am eating meat again. I just realised that you are fighting a tide that is too strong, plus it wasn't doing me any good, I felt weaker than before. Even my own body was telling me to eat meat I believe.

There are good vegetarian diets and bad vegetarian diets. All it takes is more balance.
And research.

*Did you know there are vegan body builders?

You may be right on the diet thing there I have to admit.

I do feel a lot stronger these days physically though. I am not an expert on nutrition by any means (which might actually dilute my point a little there as well), but I know I feel better.

Hi Zala, LL is always best if you take breaks occasionally I've found over the years.

The world and the universe is constantly evolving.

There is a Being who is in control of the evolutionary process of the universe, our world, and all of creation. Whatever we call that Being or however we conceive that Being to be.

For now things are as they are in the evolutionary process of all creation but it's gradually being transformed into what it should be and what it all was designed to be from the beginning of creation.

I am sure that there will be a time in the evolutionary process when animals and humans will no longer eat the flesh of other animals to survive. I am certain there will be a time in the future of evolution when the lion will lie down beside the lamb. Perhaps it is true what the shamen say in that the aberrational lions of our time who refuse meat and are gentle of nature really are lights that point the way for us to a distant future of animal kind. They exist in rarity but they exist to give us hope.

We are not in control of the universe or nature and perhaps it's the inability to trust and believe in a Being greater than ourselves that prompts us to think that we need to take control of everything, including nature itself. When actually it is the inner changes in ourselves towards gentleness and love and acceptance and only that which help move evolution along more speedily to a better time.

If we intervene in the Divine plan we will only mess it up as we have messed up so many things in our own lives by feeling we have to control all things and as we have consistently messed up the world. I do not think that nuclear weapons, bigger and better missles and the things we are doing to pollute this planet are part of the Divine plan for us, the world and all other animals and things of creation. Those things came to be by the need of our egos to control. They are only designed for death and destruction.

The violence in nature is only a reflection of the violence within humankind.

There is only one thing we can control and change. Ourselves. Evolution will come about much faster when we can manage to do that much.

Animals do respond to love and we see that in our pets. They respond to our love and gentleness and they give back that love and gentleness to us. When mankind becomes less self-serving and cruel to animals they will respond to us and to each other in like manner. When we become less self-serving and cruel in our treatment of each other the world and all creation will respond in like manner.

Animals will stop killing when humankind stops killing. Animals will become less vicious when humankind becomes less vicious. Start by being more loving and gentle with other humans and you will see that reflected in other animals in their behavior patterns.

Humankind lives by the code of the survival of the fittest. Why shouldn't other animal life be the same way? The only difference between us and the lower forms of animal life is that we destroy with bombs, guns, and words.

Just my take on it.

LTT, My cats don't hunt. Not all cats hunt. My oldest cat encountered a bird in our yard with a broken leg. He walked up to it, sniffed it and walked away uninterested. He may have traumatized the bird unintentionally but he did it no harm. He is a very large cat, the size of a bobcat but because he was raised from a kitten with love and gentleness he responded to the bird in like manner.

Well even if there is no God, which I have some weird beliefs anyway, but still, they evolved that way in nature for a reason. The world has a complex system that has evolved over the years to suit it's needs of survival.

Anyway, I'm not going to post in this thread anymore. If anyone feels like bashing what I said, better do it now so I can't agrue with you. lol

Mirandee, I agree that people interfere with nature too much with destructive technology, etc.

I am thinking right now, that if is true that people can learn how to levtitate, teleport, etc and perhaps even learn a more advanced form of Reiki, then this would be a truly high form of science. It makes what most of us think of as 'science' today seem quite ridiculous.

And perhaps there is a plan behind the uni-verse

I often feel there is.

But then when I read about the torture of the innocent, all the other questions and confusion come flooding back.

P.S. But yes, you may be right. There may probably is a higher consciousness to help everything move along as it should- people as a whole are too confused to do it for themselves

I have to say LTT that its a gross generization on your part when it comes to diets. You have to realise that a species itself can have variable metabolic rate populus. Some of us Humans have a higher metabolic rate then others and in Carnivores, I would say about 80% of them do have a VERY high metabolic rate (Lions especially thus they try to conserve as much of their energy as possible by resting.)

The body builders that you ahve mentioned may have a very low metabolicrate and thus their bodies retain fats and lipid count better then those with higer metabolic rates *OR they compensate and try to balance out their metabolisim through artificial means (I.e. Steroids.)

I am a regular gym member and I can tell you that my metabolic rate is considerably high. With a well balanced 3000 caloric day diet I can maintian my weight at 140 lbs. If I miss even one meal I can expect to lose about 3 pounds that ay soley . with my busy lifestyle, veggis simply don't sut it; Most veggis release energy way too slowly and I need that quick burst of energy either with power bars or from meat. And power bars themselves are highly problematic; They are more sugar then anything thus being very unhealthy.

Right now during the month of Ramadan, I am at a current weight of 132 lbs... Yeah I am wasting away Lol! Its only for a month... I'll get the weight back. Seems like in this weight loss obsessed society, there aren't exactly "good tips" out there for those of us who actually want to gain weight responsibly.
