I am curious, and somewhat bewildered about the few people who are enthused about lexigramming/lexigrams. Oh for sure, alot is said about anagrams, but I have encountered people who have never even heard of either.
With the popularity of the DaVinci Code book, and upcoming movie, I had expected more interest and curiousity about wordplay, codes, secret meanings and so forth. Most that have heard about them did so by way of Linda's book Star Signs. I absolutely adore her books, but contrary to popular notion she is not the inventer of the artform. Lexigramming and anagramming have been around for centures, ever since the first written languages. The process is far far from a new concept. I also most respectfully must say that I can comprehend no logical or otherwise rational reason for the restrictions Linda put on the process, such as a name or phrase being too long, or a name not wanting to be lexigrammed. Also the limit on the number of vowels. Does that seem to be rather odd to anyone else? I have yet to encounter any name or phrase that can't be lexigrammed. Also I cannot find a logical reason why one would want to then add letters that are not found in the source word or phrase. This would make it inaccurate as a form of name analysis or divination. I would love some feedback to this post, and see more interest in this ancient form of divining meanings from names and phrases. Thank You All very much!

Hi, Fayte!

I used to do a lot of lexigramming, but then I just sort of stopped doing it. Mostly because I had a hard time sometimes trying to figure out where to put "no's" and "not's." Sometimes their placements are arbitrary and can arranged as the lexigrammer sees fit. I have enjoyed many of the lexigrams here... we have some very talented people, yourself included.

In the meantime I appreciate others' lexigrams, but for the most part, I have stopped taking it seriously until I learn better ways to be accurate with it.

future_uncertain! Yes I agree. It is difficult to lexigram for others. Doing it for yourself or people you know well is easier.Unless one is very sure of their intuition or psychic abilities, one should not attempt to do interpretive lexigrams for people they do not know. Thank you for your reply, and observations on this topic. It is most appreciated!

....because the word druids say so!

I suppose Lexigramming isn't for everybody, and yeah most people I know have not heard of the Divine artform either.
Linda sparked my learning of Lexigrams and most of all, the word druids.
I understand some reasons why she did place rules when Lexigramming. For example, my full name has more than 15 letters of the alphabet, and I can almost get any word.
So I modify my name by removing my middle name, and then I can get a Lexi out of it.
I never add any extra letters that weren't already in the original word, UNLESS it is by 'accident', and I see it as no accident at all except a hint from the word druids.
I agree with the rules Linda placed on them, I can see the logic, for some unknown reason.

I replied to you fayte in the 'programs' thread, I hope you understand my reply and I hope that you know it was a slight misunderstanding on my behalf.

SunChild! I most respectfully have to disagree with you that a name or phrase of more than 15 letters will get you most any word. This in my experience is not true. A small example would be my post to the spiral game, which I am posting here to clarify this......Where she LOADED her arms up with boxes of SHOES!!!.....that phrase of much more than 15 letters had alot of words, about 3,000 or so. But since there was no letter n or multiples of it, amongst other "missings", that could not be most any words to be had. The language has hundreds of thousands of words. Many are not useful in lexigrams, and the vast majority of words are by virture of the letters not going to show up in very many names. Here is the lexigram I did, all words were lexigrammed from the original phrase, that indeed exceeded 15 letters....

SHE HEADED TO THE HARDWARE STORE FOR A PLUMBERS HELPER, SOME TILE,TAPE TO MEASURE TOO. AFTERWARDS FAMISHED, SHE HAD A BITE TO EAT. A DIETER, BUT SHE ATE SOME SOUP WITH A BIT OF OMELET, A SMALL SALAD SHE ALSO HAD. BUT DESERT WAS OUT!
A STOP AT THE PET STORE FOR A HAMSTER, ALSO A FISH. SHE HAD HER HAIR PUT UP WITH BRAIDS TOO! OUT TO BORDERS FOR SOME STORIES TO READ. HER ARMS LOADED UP WITH ITEMS, SHE SAW A PAIR OF SHORTS, THE BLOUSE WITH IT WAS BLUE WITH A FLOWERED MOTIF,A DRESS TOO. SHE WAS SO TIRED OUT FROM HER TRIP TO THE MALL, HER ADORABLE BEADED PURSE EMPTIED, SHE HAILED A TAXI FOR HOME. THERE SHE RELAXED, HAD A BATH, READIED HERSELF FOR A LATE DATE WITH HER BEAU, HER PARAMOUR.

A few letters, like an "n" and others would have been very useful, but it was not in the original phrase. Also I should note that even with alot of words, most often do not pertain to or have meaning to the name of the person or phrase being lexigrammed. I call these redundances, or filler randoms, like a sort of word version of synaptic drift. These odd or not relevant words can however be indicative of past lives, or someone the persons is associated with for some Karmic reason.

You used 'n'! NO, ON, DONE, ON, NOW.
That's the first things I noticed.
I dont get what you mean anyway, what do you mean about the lexigram game?
You have to lexigram the phrase.

I meant about Linda's rules when lexigramming a person, place or thing.

Now I'm really confused at to what your saying.

SunChild...yes I did use the letter "n", I would love to say it was intentional, that I did it to see if anyone noticed or read it, but alas I screwed up! I was in a hurry, I didn't recheck the post. I shall most certainly repair my f---kup! Game? The thing it is called: Quote: Spiral Chain ~ (a lexigram game....this is what it was/is called!
Confused? I'm confused that you are confused. So lets keep talking, ok? Debate and discussion is a good thing, it opens us up to questions, and exploration, and ultimately understanding or at least truces.
Agreeing to disagree and be civil is an admirable thing. Thank you for finding my errors. I am not perfect. I never said I was. Ok... you said, Quote:
"You have to lexigram the phrase"....I did! I found over 3000 words! I did the whole phrase! I neglected to consult my list of words when I was done, to make sure I had not accidentally added ones that were not there. By being in a hurry, I screwed up. I will go back and fix it. There are other words without an "n" I can use! PLEASE feel free to tell me if you find any more errors!
I really mean that!

OK... I think I fixed all the errors, got rid of the "n" words! So did anyone find anymore? I could have simply made them uncapitalized, but I decided to replace them.
This is frustrating, BUT FUN!!!!!
PS: I also fixed the errors of that post over in the "Spiral Chain ~ (a lexigram game)", Topic.

heehee Fayte!

I think I was saying that the rules of (no more than 15 letters) couldn't possibly apply to the game because a phrase would most likely have ALOT of letters.
And when I was talking about the rules I meant person, place or thing.
But the phrases is a fun game, and I didn't think that was a good example, it didn't prove anything to me. (not the game itself, only your example)
I think I get what you mean, I hope.

OK! I hunted down the rules!!! QUOTE:

"This is how it will work. You will want to spiral a sentence off of the sentence posted before yours. BUT there must be a Lexigramed word made up of the letters contained in the sentence before the one you are going to write. Also, CAPITALIZE the Lexigramed word, so we know what it is. Maybe we can make a story out of it."

Then the second part of the Quote, which I took to heart by lexigramming the ENTIRE PHRASE!!! It is alot harder, but more fun!!!
QUOTE:
"
Feel free to bend the rules if you need to or make suggestions on how to better the game."

What the heck's going on here?
I havent had time to read the whole thread....

Fayte, yes, in that game I made up I said there were no rules. None set in stone, bend them if you want. Who cares? It's just a game. I've never been one to follow rules. So anyone can do what they want....I just wanted to do something to bring some fun into the forum. There are no strict rules in that game. It's more for fun and to let people get comfortable with lexigraming without feeling like they will make a mistake.

That game does not follow the rules that Linda gives for Lexigraming. It's just for fun. The game is somewhat different than how Linda has showed us how to lexigram, which I agree with her way. In the game there are no rules, except to try to use the letters to make a word from the sentence before yours. In actual lexigraming, there are rules. And they can all be found in Star Signs.

26taurus!!!! Just trying to stir up interest in lexigramming a bit more! I don't think there is a problem. That is not my intention. I'll wait until you've read the previous posts before I respond more to your surprised query, ok??? As to the rules however, is the only way allowed to do them or even talk about them Linda's way????? If so I will respectfully leave the Lexigram Magic room if you order me to do so. I will not make trouble! I only wanted to help people want to do them more and have more fun!!!! Ok...I am too tired...good night.

What 26 said!
I was just trying to understand what you meant fayte.
Linda's way, your way, my way, it doesn't matter as long as we respect eachother.
And you have just done that! So no hard feelings,k?
I'm still confused about somethings, but that's me!

SunChild!!! No problem. This isn't the first time I have encountered misunderstanding about lexigram rules. Again I love what Linda did for astrology!!!!! But I do not see where she got her rules for FINDING THE WORDS. Or the restrictions on the length of a name, and number of vowels. I have NEVER encountered a name that one can't get words from! There is no way a name can get all the words! You would have to have in that name, AT LEAST 5 of EACH letter, EVERY letter! There is theoretically no such name!
That would be a name composed of at least 130 letters!!!!! And the letters in the correct proportions.
As far as lexigramming from the found words... on that I completely agree!!!!! Anything, anyhow, any way is A-OK!!!!

I have great respect for Linda, but I feel that FINDING the words is a logical process. Which words to USE in the lexigram phrase is where the intuition and magic come in to play!
Names have letters.... letters form words.... so use ALL the LETTERS found in the name no matter what the name or its length or vowel number;... what can be as simple as that? If I have confused anyone again, I am sorry. I cannot explain my objections and rationalizations any clearer than that.

I don't think Linda meant that it was impossible to find words in a name of any length or with any amount of vowels, etc. That would be anagramming and not lexigramming. Star Signs is really a beginner's book for a lot of things and, if you read carefully, Linda never said she invented anything on her own rather she gathered information from various sources and presented them in one simple guide to spirituality. She was adamant about what she believed was the right way to do things but she never said that those right ways were "hers" or that she invented them. Her rules seem rather logical to me as far as lexigramming is concerned which again is completely different from doing an anagram. The point is not to find any and every word that could possibly be formed from the letters in a name. It's to find certain words in a name and then intuitively string them together to find a meaning hidden in the name. There are words that creep up in all sorts of names, like "this". Consequently, all those people also have the word sh*t in their name ... is that undeniably meaningful? I highly doubt it. I think it's important to remember that Linda presented these codes in order to help people safely and simply develop their own intuitive powers while still growing on a spiritual path. Star Signs is a book to be practiced not just to be read. And, as far as developing intuition is concerned, it's important to have certain guidelines to follow. That's all they are ... lines to guide you forward. Her guidelines are meant to be interpreted for a person who is just waking up to the magic of words. If you used a word with that many letters and vowels as a beginner it would surely be a daunting task. It would be easy to get carried away with the number of words you found instead of the intuitive stringing together of them which is the important part. Likewise, I don't believe in using a program to find the words for you. That's like using a calculator for basic functions. If the point is to develop your sense of intuition via lexigrams why would you take a shortcut that stops you from using your intuition about the words you should be picking out of the many words that are possible? For fear that you might miss one? Where is the joy of discovery in that? I've done the same lexigram on numerous different occasions and found words I had originally missed and ended up finding a different perspective later. They were the words my intuition led me to at the time and they provided me with the proper interpretation at the time as well. If I had used a program to find all the words for me then my intuition would only be getting half the exercise that lexigrams can provide. Back to the calculator analogy ... I know plenty of educated people who are not able to multiply 2034 by 45 in their heads. It's not a difficult calculation but it does take practice in order to be able to not depend on tools to do it for you. My nine year old nephew can do it in his head because he doesn't depend on calculators yet. You're not "stupid" if you can't do it in your head, you're just out of practice. And that's what lexigramming is supposed to do; give you the practice you need to stop looking outside of yourself for answers and trust the voice within yourself. Likewise, I agree with Linda as far as words not wanting to tell you things at certain times. It all goes back to the idea of the word druids ... that words are alive, really truly alive. When working on a lexigram you're working with them to find a meaning, not demanding them to display themselves for your convenience or amusement. Likewise, I think it quite possible that certain words may or may not want to be lexigrammed for whatever reason. It's about having respect for words in a way. Many people have no problem with nudity but would balk at the idea of having some stranger strip them down in order to see them more clearly.

Or take the example of the tarot. Do you memorize all the different definitions that different people give you and apply them all in every reading? Absolutley not. You use your intuition to find the appropriate meaning at the appropriate time for the appropriate person.

My own name contains more letters than is allowed by the rules set forth in Star Signs for lexigramming. Have I ever tried lexigramming my name? Sure. Am I aware that there are plenty of possible words and/or phrases in my name that don't relate to me? Sure. Is it a bit of an effort to sort through the relevant and irrelevant in order to find something meaningful. Sure. But now that I've been doing lexigrams for a number of years, I'm getting better at feeling my way around words and finding truth in them and so it's more of a challenge than a burden. And I enjoy the challenge.

Maybe I'm old fashioned. This whole new mentality of now now now makes me uncomfortable. It seems as though people want immediate answers and immediate solutions with minimal effort. Sick? Pop a pill, don't worry about why. Where's that fool-proof quick and easy plan to enlightenment that doesn't require any personal effort other than perhaps reading? Before someone blows a gasket I'm not talking about anyone here on this site, I mean people in my personal life. They don't want to learn astrology the old way ... they want a program to print out their charts with ready made interpretations for them ... they just want the answers and not the search for knowledge. I find all these codes to be worth the effort and the wait, worth the sometimes tiresome and slow process of waiting for your own intuition to kick in and lead you in the right direction. But these are just my thoughts on the matter. Different strokes for different folks is all I can say about that. I hope no one is offended by my thoughts in this post. I don't want anyone to change what they do or how or why. We can just share and not argue, right?

Eleanore...Thank you for telling your side of this matter. It is good that people here can see your opinions and perspectives,... and mine also. We don't have to agree. I started this thread to see what anyone and all thought about lexigrams etc.
Not everyone can intuit as good as you do. And you do well at it from what I have seen. But for many people it is nice to be able to get a list of words so they can get into actual lexigramming. Then they can intuit words off the list that do not pertain to them. I still stick to the belief that finding the words is a process, a methodical and logical one. Using the words to make phrases, to string them together in a meaningful way,... Now that to me, is where and when the MAGIC and INTUITION come into play!!!
I am sorry if I have offended you. You have not offended me. We both love lexigrams, but our approaches simply differ. It is the INTEREST in lexigrams that is the most important to me. http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum8/HTML/001641.html http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum8/HTML/001412-2.html http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum8/HTML/001418.html

As for me:

I have very hit and miss periods of lexigramming.
Sometimes they flow out, seemingly unstoppable and of their own accord; others stagnate.
There was a time when most flew, but now there's only a few that do.
That's why you don't see me posting here much.

proxieme! I agree! Making meaningful phrases is not that easy! Sometimes it is even hard to make any sentences, no matter how many words. Words...That is easy for me. Words I can find. But actually lexigramming? Ouch! That is not easy! That is why I respect lexigrammers, even the not so good ones, because I know how hard it can be to make phrases and meaningful ones. I'll just be a word hunter, most of the time.

OK!.....Question for anyone and all...I think what I would like to know is, what do you enjoy about lexigramming, and what do you not enjoy? Is it easy or hard? Do you like alot of words, or a few? Do you like to anagram? I know a lady who is so good at anagramming she is amazing to me! She just sees the patterns so easily! I am not that good at it.

Bluemoon! I was a terrible stutterer. Communication was hard. So dictionaries were always a refuge for me. And word play.
I love lexigramming! Try out the "game".
No need to follow the arbitrary word druid "rules" as these show!

(I lexigrammed the entire phrase, all the words came from the original, except this I have just said)
SHE HEADED TO THE HARDWARE STORE FOR A PLUMBERS HELPER, SOME TILE,TAPE TO MEASURE TOO. AFTERWARDS FAMISHED, SHE HAD A BITE TO EAT. A DIETER, BUT SHE ATE SOME SOUP WITH A BIT OF OMELET, A SALAD SHE ALSO HAD.
SHE WAS SO TIRED OUT FROM HER TRIP TO THE STORES, HER ADORABLE BEADED PURSE EMPTIED, SHE HAILED A TAXI FOR HOME. THERE SHE RELAXED, HAD A BATH, READIED HERSELF FOR A LATE DATE WITH HER BEAU, HER PARAMOUR.

SHE WAS SO ENAMORED, HE IS SO ADORING! HIS CHARISMA IS ALMOST ANGELICAL. HE SEEMS IN ALL LIKELIHOOD, HER KARMIC MATCH. HIS CLASSIC TASTES, COGNAC, DANCES, AND HIS ATTIRE AND HIS DEMEANOR, SHOW THAT HE IS NO COMMONER! A CHARMED, DRAMATIC, MAGICAL MAN! AND HE ADORES HER AND SHOWS HIS EMOTIONS, AND SHARES HIS DREAMS WITH HER TOO! AND HE WAS NOT LATE AT ALL!

AND SO THE THREE OF THEM STOOD THERE,
FEELING AS IT WERE,
VERY VERY TENSE! AND SO THEY ALL STOOD THERE
MOTIONLESS AND ONLY STARING AND GLARING
IN THAT LONG TIMELESS SPAN OF STRAINED NERVES.
THEN FINALLY SHE SAID: "NOW WHAT DO WE ALL DO?"

THE FUTURE IS NOT THE PAST. THERE ARE FORTUNATE NEW PORTENTS FOR THE PATTERNS OF THE FUTURE, AN ERA OF FORTUNE, SANE REASON, A FUSION OF TRUST, PURE TRUTH IS TO SET UPON US. TO RENEW US. A NEW SUNRISE FOR US. A NEW SUN TO SHINE IN OUR HEARTS. THOSE WHO SEE, ARE PATIENT. THE NEFARIOUS PAST WE ATONE FOR NOW.
POETS TO WRITE STORIES ANEW.

LOTUS
PLEASE TRY ONCE TO
SEE IT ALL AS IT IS...
RALLY US NOT TO YOUR OWN PERSONAL INNER CRIES.
TRY TO SEE...WE ARE ALL NOT YOU...NOR YOU US..NOR YOUR WAY OURS...
YOUR TRIALS ARE NOT OURS..
YOUR TESTS ARE NOT OURS..
BE TRUE TO YOU...
IT IS NOT OURS TO LEAN UPON A NOT TRUE PAST
OR IS IT ANY TRUE SEERS SENSE
TO SEE A TRUE WAY TO PEACE..
BY EYES
NOT NEUTRAL TO A RUSTY PAST,
TAINTS ON ROSY LIPS
PASS ON LIES, AS SLY LIES...
YET A LIE IS STILL A LIE
A SLY ONE IS YET A LIAR
A TALL TALE TELLER....
A LOST ONE TELLS TALES NOT TRUE.
LOST IN A LONELY SEA...CRIES ALONE.
A LOST ONE CAN NOT SEE A TRUE WAY TO LEARN.
REAL SEERS ARE NEAR
TO SAY IT ALL.
A TRUE SEER SEES...
OSIRIS IS PAST
ISIS IS PAST
CLEAR IS IT TO TRUE SEERS EYES, EARS...
WIPE AWAY YOUR TEARS!
YOUR LONELY PAIN, LET OUT TO COOL....
OPEN YOUR EYES!
OPEN YOUR EARS!
CRY NOT LITTLE ONE!
WISE ORACLES SEE POTENT PORTENTS..
A NEW WAY WILL BE OURS...
PEACE WILL BE OURS.
WE ALL TRY OUR BEST!

SERENE ARE THE HOLIEST LISTENERS.
OBSOLETE ARE THE LIES..
THE BOORISH HELLION'S NOISE.
NOBLER ARE US ALL
THE TRUE HEIRS
TO THE REAL TRUTHS IN US ALL
IN US ARE THE TRUE EYES THAT SHINE..
OUR HOLY SEERS SHRINE.

BUMP!
Here you all go...
Let us start the game again!
See directions on page one of this thread!
Or lexigram the entire previous post to create your new phrase!

Just be sure to ONLY PUT IN CAPS letters you CAN FIND from the post before yours! Added letters if you add...put in lower case or like this (L) or this [L].
Use punctuation as you need it!
Thanks!

OK....The phrase to lexigram to restart the game:

"YOU CAN HAVE LOADS OF FUN WITH THE LEXIGRAM MAGIC SPIRAL CHAIN~
A LEXIGRAM GAME!"
