Back at my parents. Our first blooms were the snowdrops. Ours are mostly blue. Though we have been seeing a few random white ones. I did a spell last night with them and finished this morning.

The daffodil blooms lasted long this year. They are dried and on my altars now. The crab apple tree blooms are turning into bubs. I see the peonies are next around the corner for Gemini season.

The first flower on my peony “coral charm” has opened. There are 5 buds on it this year. It’s a gorgeous flower. I have it in my border with Nepeta “walker’s low”, red valerian, allium “purple sensation” and English rose “queen of Sweden”. There are lots of buds on this rose. My climbing roses as well. My climber “veilchenblau” is going to be dripping in flowers this year.

The rhubarb “Holsteiner blut” is ready to be harvested. I love it in combination with strawberries in a crumble. Strawberries and raspberries are flowering right now. Lots of snails are feasting on my Moroccan mint and clematis. I need to find some kind of solution for that.

I wasn’t in much of a gardening mood last year but I’m getting into it again.

I'm torn. In a way, you are helping by feeding the snails.

i planted three lily bulbs & one has already sprouted 3 inches tall. i had to dig up the garden looking for the other two. found one, and replanted it a bit shallower for another chance..

the lilies have bloomed and gone. had some funky-striped ones, and one with a deep maroon bulb.

the purple rhododendron are beginning to bloom

i need more culinary herbs. there’s already mint (took over the garden), chives, thyme, lovage, tarragon

the tomato plants are about two feet tall; their little yellow flowers now appearing

the climbing, potted roses are beginning to bud

I’m ok with snails in my garden, but I want them to practice some moderation when it comes to the mint and clematis. Maybe I should offer them some beer. I’ve read this gets them too drunk to eat. But somewhere else, I read it’s so attractive to them that they will travel far distances to find it. I have no desire to become the local snail tavern. Maybe I should offer them grapefruit instead. Any tips?

@vansio, I have a bayleaf shrub and a rosemary shrub in my garden. I can definitely recommend these. They need a sunny spot but can be kept on relatively poor soil. They stay green in the winter and are both wonderful kitchen herbs.

I'm not sure, but there must be an alternative that they will prefer better?
