T O P I C R E V I E WBelbaThere's been quite a few topics about one's dominant planets regarding the Pullen delineation and Color Horoscope, which one feels more right, what do they consider important, what in natal chart weights more etc. I decided to add in the »battle of two« another way of calculating dominant planets, Donna Cunningham's tests in series How strong is your Uranus?/Pluto?/… on her site Sky Writer. Although calculating the scores for all the planets (including Chiron) takes a lot of time, it's worth the effort to maybe rethink the roles your planets play in your chart. Some links to previous threads: http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum24/HTML/228536.html http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum24/HTML/220316.html http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum24/HTML/222307.html http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum24/HTML/228656.html For me the debate about dominating planets has always been quite interesting, because I've realized that when one says he's got Mars dominant, I immediately look at the sign it's in – and it's going to be pure expression of Mars in that sign energy, not pure Mars energy. That's my opinion at least, based on my observations and especially my own chart. I'll return to this later. Of course natal charts are complex and there is no pure energy, it’s always a modified by the aspects, houses, progressions and transits, so that’s why I’m a bit reluctant to define myself by one planet, so when people say “oh, I’m Uranus and Pluto dominant” it means they limit themselves, it’s too simplistic for my taste and is just an offence to the richness of personalities. Although it sometimes feels good to just pronounce something so firm and simple, sense of simplified identification. So, state your dominant planets, delineations, and explain which do you feel is the most accurate and why? Pullen delineation1. Uranus2. Venus and Mercury3. Sun4. Saturn5. Moon I have a problem with Venus, I just don’t identify with it – the pure Venusian energy, things like beauty, romance, love, elegance, harmony, yes, I do appreciate them to a certain extent, but I also associate them with vain and self indulgence, which are in my opinion one of the worst characteristics in human nature. When little I’ve never identified with Aphrodite in Greek mythology, never, ever, it was always other goddesses. BUT, I do identify with Venus in Virgo, which is a whole another story, it twists the Venusian energy to a totally different level. Mercury, OK. Uranus, I agree, but everybody who knows me would disagree with the typical descriptions of Uranian types, no I am not all over the place, I am not so erratic, impulsive, yes, but that is due to other placements, and I am not a rebel without a cause – that for me is just foolish. I am in lot of ways Uranus in Capricorn, value the good, traditional stuff and carefully making changes within the system, because that is how they can be best implemented. Sun, Saturn and Moon are probably so high because they make lots of aspects. What bothers me in Pullen is the weight to puts on houses. Does three personal planets in 7H make me more Venusian – I don’t think so. That’s in my opinion a too simplistic view. Yes, I take love relationships very seriously, almost too seriously, yes, I will work as a counsellor, yes, I intend to get married someday, but does that make me any more Libra/Taurus like? Most definitely not. Donna Cunningham1. Uranus2. Mars3. Venus4. Mercury5. SunI like the fact that she puts big emphasis on conjunctions to angles. That’s where the Mars comes from... Only planet that conjuncts my angle – Mars on IC. Pullen in my opinion underestimates that fact. Again, I don’t view myself as very Martian like, although I would say that Gemini Mars is a huge part of my personality. And I adored to watch Xena the warrior princess, she was my hero. I also identified with Hercules quite a lot I still have utmost respect for women who are fighters. Christina Aguilera’s song Fighter was kinda my personal anthem in my adolescence I can get very emotional when it comes to empowering women, preventing domestic violence, single mothers, women power, feminist movements etc. Color Horoscope 1. Chiron2. Uranus3. Moon (these three have almost the same percents)4. Pluto5. VenusI am not surprised by Chiron, since it aspects both my Moon and Sun, is placed in 6H and because of my Virgo placements. Maybe also Sag Moon? Anyway, I’ve always been a lot more sensitive than my chart at first sight looks, sensing the feelings of others and having a lot of sympathy for the underdog. It frustrates me, because what I feel is much more than what suggest cookbook descriptions of my placements. Why is Moon so high, I have no idea? I notice that Pullen uses midpoint and make me significantly more capricorn due to all of these midpoints. I guess there's nothing clearer than pluto when it comes to convince me one side or another lolFor Donningham, I like her writings on stelliums but I find her series on how stong a planet is to be just a fun calculation and not an accurate one. I agree Cunningham's score sheet is not that multidimensional and doesn't consider all the nuances, but I personally agree with the emphasis she makes... for me exaltations and fall and detriment are not very informative, but that's just my personal view, because I've never been a fan of that theory, in my opinion it's outdated, and in my experience overrated. Actually Cunningham counts conjunction to angles, which in my opinion is quite enough, I wouldn't consider Sun in 10H any stronger then, say, in 9H or any other for that matter...(unless it's conjunct MC) Why would a career oriented Sun be stronger than the one that develops a strong sense of purpose, for example? I mean ranking the houses is even less relevant than the signs, in my opinion. But yeah, I know, opinions differ. Regarding this theory would make your Pluto extremely irrelevant, don't you think, being in 7H, projected and representing your other... But that's not how you feel, do you? Ranking the signs is just something I don't do.. I mean, how can you decide which one is stronger: Scorpio/Aries Mars, Leo/Sag Mars, Sag/Gemini Mars... It a non stop discussion which depends on highly subjective views on what strength is. theunknownHere's my chartBelba quote:Originally posted by charlie: I am extremely chaotic It's been hard for me to control it, even more so since I've gotten older and my brain more developed. Neptune is conjunct your chart ruler, part of a stellium AND conjunct your Uranus, which is obviously an important planet for you - dispositing all those personal planets. So I'd say Neptune, more precisely Neptune in Cap is a very strong underlying theme in your chart, maybe if you read those descriptions they'd ring more true than, say pure Neptunian energy, which is obviously not a dominating theme in your chart... But I do understand why you'd identify yourself more with Pluto (and Saturn?) - with those conjunctions to angles, it's what you feel the most, most evident energies, probably also others view you as very serious, brooding. Besides, Pluto and Saturn is actually quite harmonious energy, so in your case it wouldn't surprise me if it was overruling Uranian/Neptunian themes. However, it may be that because of the test being more focused on aspects than actual sign placements. I may have a lot of Uranus in my chart, but Uranus itself doesn't make a lot of aspects. I'm also surprised that Pluto isn't up there, because I feel way more Plutonian than Cancerian (not sure if saying Moonian is right lol). Pullen1. Uranus2. Mercury3. Sun4. Pluto5. Somehow the Sun is still up there, even though I wouldn't consider myself an egomaniac lol. Mercury is still up there too, which is interesting indeed. Mars isn't up there though, which is shocking honestly. I've always felt very Martian. Color Horoscope: 1. Mars2. Uranus3. Moon4. Mercury5. SaturnNow this one is strange. Mars and Uranus being at the top is certainly interesting indeed, but what is Saturn doing there? I've never felt Saturn as much as I have Pluto, which is not in the top five! (Albeit it comes right after Saturn). Seeing the Moon in all three ranking systems makes sense because I have a fourth house stellium of three. Uranus is also there too which should be obvious. These are interesting for sure. I would be willing to find other methods of planetary ranking for comparison. ------------------Aquarius Sun, Merc, Venus, Uranus, NeptuneScorpio Mars conj. I've noticed however that ColorHoroscope puts Neptune as my third strongest influence (tie with Sun) while pluto is just weak... In Pullen, my chart has pluto as 3rd strongest tie with Sun. I have to agree with Pullen because I'm hardly neptunian. Neptune only aspect my venus-Mars-Asc. While pluto aspects virtually everything in my chart except jupiter and Saturn. It's on my descendent so maybe it's harder to count me as plutonian... I guess there's nothing clearer than pluto when it comes to convince me one side or another lolFor Donningham, I like her writings on stelliums but I find her series on how stong a planet is to be just a fun calculation and not an accurate one. It only counts sun in 5th as strong for example but Sun in 1st and 10th are also strong. It doesn't count exaltation planets or fall or detriment so comparing two planets to see which one is weaker in a chart based on her method is not correct.Foor Mars, she lets you count any Fire Mars as strong and while I somewhat agree (I don't think Sag Mars is strong or weak), other Mars that are not detriment or fall are equally strong I think. It's just a much more complicated discussion. Also you just kinda add point to all aspects but not judging them individually like Pullen. Mars conjunct saturn is different from sun conjunct saturn .,, can't count them all as strengthening
Hey, would you post up your chart, so I'd take a look at that Pluto/Neptune dilemma and perhaps see what makes that Color Horoscope put Neptune so high?

Sometimes it's ahead of myself, if that makes sense??What I do do though, is that I have complete trust in Universe and I am very spiritual and that makes me somewhat at peace. I just flow with the tides. I also study everything I can get my hands on so I know a little bit of most things-it keeps me busy. If that doesn't work I exercise myself into the ground. My biggest conundrum I fear is the Uranus/Saturn sq since my Moon is ruled by Saturn. It begs me to be still but we all know Uranus.....
It does make sense... I do have periods when I just wanna shut my brains down, but not nearly as bad as you, I imagine. Lucky for you you've found spirituality, it's always needed to balance the strong rationality. Perhaps some spiritual martial arts, tai chi for example, for you to engage your soul and body, also harmonize the breathing..? I know, I've been thinking about it lately, it would be a nice counterbalance, just to get out of my head. Dancing my ass off also usually helps. Studying is great, just don't overdo it, sometimes it makes for an open mind, but closed heart, if that makes sense?
One of my favorite quotes, because sadly it's true.."Where ignorance is bliss, 'tis folly to be wise." Oh the curse of overthinking.
Well, I know a thing or two about Saturn/Uranus dilemma, my chart rulers, and even though Uranus is stronger aspect wise, Saturn is also very strongly aspected, besides him being exalted and also that damn Uranus in Cap doesn't help. With me it's always tradition/subversion. - Moon/Uranus conjunct. How to balance them and make something really good out of them... it's the eternal question... but we're getting there

I love dancing. LOVE!!

First I was like... wuut? Where's the Neptune? but now I think Color Horoscope puts a lot of emphasis on chart ruler... Is it?
(about chart rulers being of utmost importance for Color Horoscope... it also shows with mine ranking. Uranus (chart ruler) being conjunct Moon... Moon ranking so high)

Me too!!! I get all ecstatic and all kinds of emotions overflow me but only when dancing alone, I hate dancing in couple or on some choreography, I'm not able to hold the rhythm, I rather improvise It's such a superb outlet for all the nervous energy, just forgetting and letting go to the music

I dance alone too

True, but what's your fallback? That's the question. A water/moon person may feel the need to express their feelings for example.
I just need to express them verbally or escape into my thoughts. (Mercury in 12th)
Just as an example.
Donna: 1. Sun2. Mars3. Moon4. Mercury5. Uranus
I expected Uranus to be a lot bigger because of my Aquarius Stellium.
Pullen1. Uranus2. Mercury3. Sun4. Pluto5. Moon
I like how Uranus is at the top, because it fits much better. I also really like how Pluto is finally in the top five, since it has an energy that I often feel quite often. Somehow the Sun is still up there, even though I wouldn't consider myself an egomaniac lol. Mercury is still up there too, which is interesting indeed. Mars isn't up there though, which is shocking honestly. I've always felt very Martian.
Color Horoscope: 1. Mars2. Uranus3. Moon4. Mercury5. Saturn
Now this one is strange.

Donna1. Venus2. Mars3. Jupiter4. Pluto5. Uranus
Color Horoscope1. Jupiter2. Sun3. Venus4. Uranus5. Mars
Interesting...I don't have an opinion though. trPluto is currently conjunct my natal Sun and progressed Venus and it's confusing me.
