Under normal conditions, each partner will spend much of his time and energy to try to prove that the other is in the wrong on all fronts. They will be especially keen on crossing swords over financial matters as she is economical virtue personified and he deems it demeaning to worry about money. Their differences concerning equality of the sexes may be enough to light the fuse. Moreover, the Tiger man will certainly attempt to impose his will on the Rabbit, but she is likely to react vehemently by showing her sharpened claws. If she wants to strengthen her position, she will have to pursue a profession of her own and be independent financially instead of accepting the role of a full-time homemaker as she naturally wants to.

Their sex life will not be free from problems. His appetite is too powerful a match for hers. But if she wants to take time to breathe, he may interpret her move as indifference or coldness.

While the Tiger will in all seriousness devote herself body and soul to the cause of feminism, the Goat will show himself utterly unsympathetic to her efforts. He is not at all misogynous, priding himself even on being more feminine than masculine, and will make fun of her refusal to enjoy her feminity. But his chiding and mockery will certainly meet with terrible explosions of anger from the Tiger whose sense of humor is always in an embryonic state.

With her rational mind, it will exasperate her beyond endurance to see her man's outlandish moods and exclusive reliance on his intuition. And yet, his "feeling" will help him find the right solutions to problems more easily than her logical reasoning can - and this will infuriate her further.

The communication between them will be extremely difficult if not downright impossible as the Goat always shirks serious discussions and avoids to let himself be pinned down. There will be days when, for no apparent reason, he will withdraw into his own secret world to which the Tiger will have no access. Yet on other days he will appear entirely dependent on her and be happy to let her solve all problems and make all decisions. In any case she will have to take finances in her own hands since he is thoroughly undependable in this respect.

In spite of all the Tiger woman will come to appreciate the Goat as a charming man from time to time - when she is in one of her more sensitive moods.

A union that is rarely expected to last.

Their greatest problem will spring from his irresponsibility regarding financial matters. Not content to be a spendthrift, he is also a lazybones, and so the onus will be on the Rat woman to manage to prevent creditors from constantly knocking at their door.

Owing to the partners' ability to achieve sexual harmony, some kind of success can be made of this union despite all its inherent deficiencies. The Goat is an extremely sensual man and is expert in awakening the most basic desires in any woman. The Rat is also noted for her sensuality and interest in sex. And so these two will spend much time together in bed and drown some of their many disagreements in each instance of their physical fusion.

The Horse is nothing but the exact opposite of her man: She is of the most gregarious type who enjoys mixing with crowds and entertaining profusely; she is a downright extrovert, never hesitating to talk things over to excess; and, above all, she loves squandering money to compensate for her deepseated feeling of inadequacy. It would be extremely difficult, if not impossible, to reach a compromise on these points without too much friction.

But the most serious obstacle to harmony here is undoubtedly the inevitable clash between the Rabbit's discreet but real misogyny and the Horse woman's exacerbated feminist stand. Her complaints and grievances will in all likelihood meet with his disdainful indifference.

Sex can certainly be another area of conflict between them. The first problem they will have to cope with may be their divergent attitudes toward life. The Rabbit harbors a loathing of change and whatever is unusual or unexpected. The Monkey, on the contrary, believes change is the spice of life and is ever on the lookout for new experiences. He takes himself and his ideas very seriously, while it pleases the Monkey woman to poke fun at everyone including her Rabbit. He may be too rigid to ease the situation, but fortunately the Monkey woman is usually flexible enough to prevent things from getting out of control; she is able to admit readily that she is wrong and then compliment her man lavishly on his intellectual acumen. If she is careful never to overdo it, her technique can always work like a charm.

Passion is unlikely to be a dominant note at one time or another in this relationship. Both partners are distrustful of pure feelings and emotions - although not to the same degree - and will not be overdemanding of each other on the sentimental or sexual score.

The Ox, a diehard traditionalist, mistrusts all nonconformists, whereas the Dog is perpetually concerned with making this world a better place to live in. Unlike him who appreciates the quiet home, the Dog loves to be out fighting to the bitter end for some ideal. These conflicting stands will make for plenty of arguments. And as both are moralizers, they will try, with dire motivation, to change each other - without, of course, ever succeeding in this enterprise of theirs. On top of all this, dissension over finances will arise from the Ox's unreasonable stinginess and the Dog's excessive generosity.

Some consolation may be found in their sex life, but it will be so tenuous and fleeting that a durable solution to their difficulties must be looked for elsewhere; perhaps a miracle will even be needed. However, if they earnestly work to achieve mutual understanding, their efforts will probably be rewarded as good will can sometimes force chance to manifest itself in this relationship.

The Ox will certainly attempt to impose his authority on the Pig woman from the very start; but she is so charming, so conciliatory that she will quietly get her way without his noticing it. With time, he will become more amenable, and all risk of conflict of wills can then be discarded. Their common desire for a warm domestic life will be a good stabilizing factor in their relationship. She knows how to cook delicious meals which he will eat with much joy and gratitude. His jealousy and possessiveness will in all likelihood remain dormant as she is tactful, considerate, devoted and faithful beyond reproach. Both of them love children and will certainly create a large family which will help them cope successfully with life's inevitable disappointments and sorrows.

The only problem likely to confront this happy couple will be that they may settle down in routine and lapse imperceptibly into boredom. To break up the monotony, surprises and even some innocuous disputes should be sought out; travels to foreign countries are also recommended.

The Pig man has definite ideas about how women should be- - feminine, gentle and modest - although it would be excessive to consider him a "chauvinist pig." He will be bitterly disappointed to realize that his Tiger falls direly short of his standards. Her direct manner in bed and her professed hostility toward men in general, for instance, could offend and even shock him beyond measure. However, no open disputes on this score are to be feared as the Pig man, although oversensitive, is keen on disguising his pains. He is more likely to react by brooding or sulking for days on end - and the Tiger woman should interpret his sullen moods as an alarm sign and take appropriate steps to remedy the situation. She will not have much difficulty in doing it because, like a child, he will always be ready to forgive and make peace, no matter how much he has suffered.

The initial attraction between a Rabbit man and a Tiger woman can be very strong. Each finds in the other what is missing in himself. He admires her liveliness and enthusiasm while she prizes his refinement and thoughtfulness. But their relationship is not expected to go well beyond this stage as the differences are too fundamental to be reconciled adequately.

The Tiger is a woman of action who continuously needs to be on the go and live her life to the fullest. Her outgoing nature will sooner or later meet with disapproval from the Rabbit man who is a typical stay-at-home and whose favorite occupation is dreaming and mulling over every aspect of existence. She is too impulsive, strongminded and superficial to appreciate this courteous, softspoken, conciliatory and somewhat effeminate man.

Difficulties will abound on the sexual front. The Rabbit, convinced as he is that man - and only man - should take the lead in bed, will not appreciate the aggressive lover in the Tiger woman. Lacking total passion because his urges are commanded by his mind, he is fastidious about his lovemaking and insists that his mate be a lady in and out of bed.
