Your partner's sun in your 7th? I think it can be the house of marriage and somewhat happiness if the sign on your 7th house cusp is in harmonious aspect to your inner points. However, if the sign on your 7th house cusp is in negative aspect to the inner points of your natal, then it becomes the house of open enemies.

My 7th house cusp is Pisces. Pisces is a REALLY bad sign for me so someone's sun in my 7th would NOT be a good experience for me unless the rest of the synastry chart matched up very well.

------------------
Virgo Asc 6˚& Mars 0˚
Gemini Sun 24˚
Libra Moon 14˚(conjunct Pluto 0˚ in 2nd house)
Gemini Mercury 25˚
Cancer Venus 29˚
And yes, i'm a guy!

Got Gemini,

yes, I agree with that. You have to take into account how it is all interwoven into your chart.

REgarding the 8th house as the house of one night stands. Nope, I definitely don`t see that.
8th house is a water house, naturally ruled by Scorpio and Pluto. It`s really deep stuff happening there.
Also, it is part of the relationship quadrant, where relationship gets pretty committed and official so to speak.
Of course it depens on how the 8th hosue is aspects; an Uranus there might well be able to have one night stands. But the 8th house is not a one-night-stand-house per se.

The 5th house is part of the emotional quadrant which relates quite strongly to the self of a person (because it is about the person`s feelings and emotions and expressions not the partner`s). Also let`not forget the Sun is the natural ruler of that house. It is pretty much selfcentred, which is not necessarily bad. IT can be actually very attractive and romantic.
In the 5th house I love someone else because he makes me feel really alive and good with myself. And I like to express my affection openly (depending on influences to the 5th house). It`s maybe the most expressive house there is.

In the 8th house there is also a note of "sacrifice". Like Pluto this house (or influences relating to it) wants to transform you,a nd transforming always includes to sacrifice something (ideally something that you don`t need anymore and have to let go of to grow).

Sex in this house is not a tool of "selfaffirmation" of making you just feel alive in yourself, but it`s a way to experience something ancient, something that is "bigger" than you. A very deep and scary experience (and fears are also connected to the 8th house as is death; and really, sex here has something to do with dying, or rather with complete surrender; you surrender to a feeling, to another person, completely, even though it`s clear that this will leave everything changed).

EDIT:
Of course you have to take into account what planets are in the 5th and 8th house and where the rulers are placed and what strong aspects they have.
This will tell you how a person deals with these issues.

Example:
The 8th house shows your commitment, your desire to merge with someone or something, your passions and deep sexual relations.

But those mentioned influences to the 8th house will show HOW you personally deal with these things.
Someone with Uranus in 8th house will react differently to them as someone with Moon in 8th house.
Uranus might actually shy away from those deep bonds and may prefer a more unusual, even sporadic "involvement" (and that of course could also imply one night stands).

And someone with Saturn in 5th house would certainly not be prone to have a one night stands.
#
So maybe it depends more on the planets in the houses and the ruler-placements, if someone will be committed or not, but not so much on the houses itself.

In my case the 8th house is definitely not prone to lead me to have one night stands, as Cancer is on it`s cusp, the ruler of 8th house is in 2nd house and Saturn, VErtex and ERos are all in 8th house.
My 5th house is in Taurus with Venus in Capricorn in 1st house, so probably not good for having one night stands either.

On the other hand a friend of mine did have her share of one night stands, but she has Aquarius on cusp of 8th house with Sun, Moon, Venus there, and the ruler of 8th house, Uranus, exactly on the cusp of her 5th house (squaring the 8th house planets). For her it was always a dilemma to balance between her flirts / affairs and serious relationships.

I read somewhere, a long time ago, that Water Signs are actually very capable of engaging in sex without love. As a Scorpio, I was surprised because I had been thinking that since Water likes to "merge", it cannot engage in sex without feelings/emotional involvement.

I wish I could remember/cite my source.

Hi DD,
Thanks a ton for your insights.
Can I trouble you with one more doubt? In a synastry chart, A has ruler of 8th in B's 7th house, while B's 8th ruler is in A's 2nd house. The rules of partnership would not affect them both the same way. The 2nd house is the house of finance. So will B look at A as a business associate and A look at B as a life partner? or will they look at each other the same way?

HI GG,
Could you clarify what kind of inner points should one look for when considering the cusp of 7th house?
thanks.

Deuxantares,

yes, watersigns can engage in sex without love, but only if they detach themselves from their own usually emotional nature.
At least that is my opinion.

Funnyface,

no, 2nd house is not just the house of finances. It`s a Venus house after all and has something of the sensuality and warmth that is so typical for Taurus.
It`s maybe the most physical houses of all. And I`ve also read that the 8th house is what you seek in sexual relationships, whereas the 2nd house is what you bring into sexual relationships.
In my experience 2nd houses overlays can bring some sensuality and warmth to a connection, but also the danger that one might see the other as posession. And probably there will be a great urge to make the relationship real, physical and a need for the partner to be physically present.

Personally I wouldn`t base my analysis on the placement of the 8th ruler in a house alone; it`s just one piece of the whole. And without knowing the aspects of the 8th ruler I couldn`t say anything at all.

Oh and I am not GG, but I think it`s also important to consider Sun, Moon, Venus, Mars, ASC, ruler of ASC (and maybe also IC, ruler of IC and ruler of 5th house).

In GG`s case I see that he has a Virgo-Mars and a Gemini - Sun.
I pick those because classically those are the planets that are said to be expressed very directly by men (as Moon and Venus are expressed very clearly by women - and yes, I know this is an oversimplification). Oh and his ASC ruler is also in Gemini.

And now he has a Pisces DSC. Pisces is natually opposite his Virgo-Mars and squaring his Gemini-Sun. He`s a very Mercurial person and he is supposed to end up with the mysterious, fuzzy, not easily to grasp, confusing Pisces / Neptunian energy?
It might compliment him, that energy, but unless he has some serious Neptune-aspects / Pisces-placements or 12th house placements, this Pisces-energy might be like a big riddle to him, and probably pretty much of an annoyance (Mercurial types often seem to be annoyed by the Neptunian evasiveness).

So, if a woman had strong Pisces-overtone, she might compliment him, but at the same time she would be very contrary to his own personality.
All of this would still be manageable, especially since his own Mars falls into the Neptunian 12th house (he may not like it, but there is a bit of Neptunian influence in him, too; but of course it is overshadowed by all the Mercury energy).

But where is the ruler of his DSC?
It`s Neptune, so I guess it would be in Sagittarius. Now I have no idea if this DSC-ruler makes aspects to his personal planets, but if it does it would be squares to his ASC and Mars, and oppositions to his Sun and ASC-ruler.

What his 7th house sais he is seeking is completely different from his own personality.
If something like that happens we often tend to see the "partner-image" of the 7th house more like a "enemy-image".

I`ll stop my train of thoughts here, because I didn`t even ask GG if I was allowed to take him as an example.

So, GG, I can take that down again, if you want me to.

Darkdreamer,

you said:
"The 5th house is part of the emotional quadrant which relates quite strongly to the self of a person (because it is about the person`s feelings and emotions and expressions not the partner`s). So would you say that if someone has Uranus in the 5th house this would modify their otherwise straight-faced capricorn sun a little bit, giving their sun/ their personality an aquarius flavour? Or do you jsut think it would modify their personality reg 5th house affairs and not their personality in general. I feel my uranus in 5th actually DOES modify my capricorn sun.

Annaf,

I have read both opinions, you mentioned here.
I guess each has to find out what is true for him.

Personally, yes, I think the 5th house is such an integral part of your personality (your self-expression, which often happens in loveaffairs, but also in creative enterprises, hobbies or through your children), that it might be able to modify your Sun.

But still I would think the emphasis on the creative / romantic part might be stronger with connections to the 5th house.

Stelliums really confuse me.

In my 5 house I have a cluster of my natal Venus and Juno with another person's Lilith and Juno (might I add, our Junos are 1 degree apart)

It feels really intense and also confuses the hell out of me at the same time.

Hi DD,
You are amazing. I love the clarity of your explanations. You can use me as a guinea pig any time you want, most gladly:-)How would a libra Sun, gemini Asc male complement a Socrpio Sun, Pisces female? I pick them because libra typically brings to mind style, beauty and Scorpio something very masculine. So a male with Libra Sun and a female with Scorpio Sun should be interesting.
One theory I heard is that subconsciously we are a little afraid of the preceding Sun sign, so scorpio a little scared of the gentle libras?

Funnyface, I'm not sure about the fear issue. What I know is that we are tolerant of all the faults and weak points of the sign before us, because subconciously we understand them after having passed through that sign in previous life.

Hi Deuxantares,
Thanks for the mail. Would that mean that Pisces is the most evolved of the signs, having gone through the whole zodiac and experienced the highs and lows of each sign? And how would a libra male-scorpio female interaction be, because libra is ruled by venus(epitome of female) and scorpio by mars( epitome of male)?

Funnyface, I don't think "most evolved" is the approriate term to use. I remember reading something that says Pisces contains a little bit of all the other signs.

Libra and Scorpio are supposed to have a natural attraction to each other, Libra being ruled by Venus and Scorpio with Mars as its original ruler (Mars and Venus = Celestial Lovers). But this is not enough, because they are too different from each other. The Scorpio will feel that Libra cannot provide the depth she is seeking, while Libra will feel that Scorpio needs to lighten up. There must be lots of good aspects in their chart for the relationship to last.

Actually Scorpio is the "wrong" Mars for Libra, and Libra is the "wrong" Venus for Scorpio.

Scorpio`s counterpart would be Taurus, and Libra`s Aries.
Also, interestingly Scorpio is a female sign, while Libra is a masculine sign.
Very c omplex and intersting, both of them.

Also Scorpio is Water, while LIbra is air, there may be some attraction there, but mostly it is based on "wrong presumptions".
Libra appears often so feminine, because of the charm, beauty, style etc., but she`s no real Yin energy.

And Scorpio may seem like the masculine incarnate, but there is a depth to Scorpio`s and a vulnerability, that are often seen as "feminine" assets, which is probably why most Scorpio`s tend to try to hide it, so noone can take advantage of their emotionality.

For Libra Scorpio may be a bit too muddy, posessive and exhausting, while Scorpio may think, Libra lacks sincerity and her indecisiveness may drive him nuts.

Also, like all air signs LIbra likes having contact with others, with many others, which a true SCorpio doesn`t really understand (of course luckily there are no pure Scorpios nor pure Libra`s out there).

I think, htere may be some attraction there, due to the rulership of Venus and Mars, but it`s good to keep in mind, that those signs have really different approaches in life.

Instead of 7th house rulers conjuncting or opposing each other as a sign of commitment, how would a 7th house ruler conjunct/opposite another's Sun stand up?

I was reading this "Who Am I To You?
Secrets of the Chart Comparison":

http://home.earthlink.net/~astrology/who_am_i_to_you.htm

and got a bit bamboozled!

Basically in the case of one person's 7th house ruler conjuncting another's Sun, I would be looking to the house ruled by the owner of the Sun (8th) and the position of the Sun (7th) to see how the Sun person felt about the ruler person, I think (lover/partner = 7th/8th). But would the 7th house ruler person just as much adore the Sun person who conjuncted them? That is, if I've not got this whole thing topsy-turvy anyway!

DD you have pretty much put into words what I have been feeling and thinking about on this. By all means, you can use my chart whenever you feel like it. I don't mind at all (as long as it's not to diss me LOL).

And yes, all those points you mentioned are definitely important. The funny thing is, I'm with a Pisces bit she only has Pisces sun and Mars. She has Virgo moon, Aries merc, and aqua Venus (cancer rising). She doesn't act like the typical Pisces though. It's really hard to figure her out sometimes. However, my best friend is a Pisces sun and we get along great. But I suspect his aqua merc has a lot to do with that.

All in all, I'm VERY attracted to Pisces women but once we know each other better, it gets downright difficult.

------------------
Virgo Asc 6˚& Mars 0˚
Gemini Sun 24˚
Libra Moon 14˚(conjunct Pluto 0˚ in 2nd house)
Gemini Mercury 25˚
Cancer Venus 29˚
And yes, i'm a guy!

evander - Oh ok, that's not how I pictured it and makes a big difference, I think. So your Saturn is in his 1st, and his Saturn is in your 7th. That's some good glue.

I don't have a stellium, so it's hard for me to get a sense for how they feel. I do have 3 conjunction sets though, so I'll assume they feel similar.

Even though it's your Uranus that is exactly on his Moon, my guess is that you don't have clear, isolated Uranian and Saturnine engergies, but instead the two combine into some super planet, Saturnus. Oh and Neptune is there too. Saturnustune. So you have that three-headed monster conjunct your own natal Mercury. Those are such different energies to have conjunct your thought process, and his Moon being conjunct may make you feel even more moody, and jump from feeling committed, to wanting to escape, to wanting to hide.

As the Moon person, my guess is that he doesn't just feel your Uranus. He feels whichever part of your stellium is dominating your Mercury. I don't have much to say about the potential for commitment other than his Moon being there provides you with the opportunity to really feel and get to know all those different energies that are a part of you. You'll meet these parts of yourself through your behavior towards him. He's the receptive force for them. I think you'll learn a lot about who you are in this relationship, and that self-discovery is something that could make commitment attractive because you don't feel stagnant but instead feel like you're developing. And that feeling would probably hold your interest since that's all in your 9th house, the house of expanding consciousness. It doesn't look like an easy relationship, but to me it does look like an important one.

All those planets are conjunct (or widely conjunct) his ASC, as is your Sun, which probably makes him feel very energized in your company. Throw the two of you in a room with a group of people, and you're the one whose energy he's going to feel.

jane- wow. thank you for trying to clarify for me.

commitment scares the h*ll outta me but not this one. i control my feelings, and he just makes them come on the surface.

darkdreamer asked weather there are bad aspects to my stelium: my stelium is squared by my mars, sextiled by venus and trined by his sun and venus

wonder does that change the picture

did i mention his s.node is right between my sun and mercury

just keeps "pulling" me in.

thanks again

I have a few questions [especially if Saturn=longevity in a relationship]:

How important are MC overlays in synastry [as a serious Saturnian influence]? For example, a person's Venus in the other's MC?

What if one person has his/her Saturn in the other's 1st, 5th or 8th H?

What if there is no "obvious" Saturnine influence in a synastry [except for a Moon/Sat & Ven/Sat parallel and a Sat/MC quincunx?

Got Gemini,

Is your leo saturn by any chance in opposition to your girlfriends aquarius venus?

I'm asking because the venus saturn opposition I do consider one of those commitment asepcts and I have seen it many times in the synastry charts of friends. However, despite this being a link that can act like super glue between two people I think, if there is tooooo much venus-saturn (for instance if there is a double whammy) it can act as just the opposite, as a separating aspect.

Also, out of curiosity, with your venus 11th house placement, have you noticed a special preference for women with strong aquarius or uranus in their charts? Or have you often gotten together with friends?

Thanks!

what about jupiter trine/sextile saturn. also mars in good aspect to saturn.

these are good for business relationships as well

edit: and for sun on dsc ~ in my experience my sun conj another's dsc is a strong attraction for me, but not so the other way [their sun conj my asc - theyre the ones who seem more eager.]

greenfairy, i think mc would admire venus, since the mc would be the qualities that one admires in others in general [as in aspires to be]. and if planets are conj another's midheaven thats important since its an angle and all angle conj are important.

im also curious about saturn 8th in synastry since everything ive heard/read sounds fairly vague.
