Okay, just so I'm clear, you get to pick on Teresa Heinz by equating her to Hilary Clinton?

Huh? I don't get it....

So the Heinz chick is vulgar... I don't really care. Vulgarity doesn't offend me.

Anyhow, GWB doesn't exactly speak well himself.

Ghani, I didn't draw any parallels between Teresa Heinz and Hillary.

The point is that even though we're not electing a First Lady to the White House, we have the historical record of Hillary's scandals as First Lady and it would be entirely prudent to find out as much about a prospective First Lady as possible....before she becomes First Lady.

So far, the Kerry campaign is trying to keep a tight muzzle on Teresa, recognizing she's a loose cannon. Comments like "shove it" and "scum bag", "I don't know why I ever came to America", "I don't know why I ever married an American", et al, aren't likely to endure her to Americans. Nor do they reflect favorably on the image Americans have of First Ladies. Compared to Jackie Kennedy, for instance, Teresa is rude and crude. Expect her political background to be gone over with a fine toothed comb too.

Hey Jwhop,

Been away for a couple months, but the impending election spurred too much curiosity for this cat to resist taking a peek on the discussion...

Just wanted to say I'm glad to see you still HOLDIN IT DOWN for the right side!
Bringing logic and reason to some of the more "emotional" and "impractical" arguments...

It looks like you've even scared a few completely away from debating... forcing them to ignore the issues & instead, devote a whole string in an attempt to defame LOL

So tell me, as a Leo, do you enjoy being the center of this forum's attention?

still newsmax is a press release tabloid, and i notice you dont often find any of this stuff sourced elsewhere....usually a google search turns up a bunch of loonatic type sites and they all link back to newsmax lol

Did she really give away Heinz ketchup packets to trick-or-treaters? Surely that was just a rumor???

I think she is very condescending. I think John Kerry likes to speak to the public as if they're in elementary school. If Teresa thinks she can speak badly about this country, while this country gives her everything, then her opinions are wrong in my book. If she doesn't like americans, then she can go live in Europe, and stay there for good. That will teach her a lesson. Honestly, by American standards, Europe is no place to live it's too old, except for Britain. This country is extremely beautiful if you just opened your eyes.

RE: logic vs. emotion

If you do not explore your emotions, feel them, and discuss them... all the logic in the world will not make you emotionally healthy.

If you only rely on your emotions and never use logic, you will not develop to your full mental capacity.

One is not more important than the other. To suggest so is denying the power of emotion, the importance, and the direct connection it has to the spirit.

Emotional maturity can only be reached when one actually accepts emotion.

Yes, LS. I would definitely agree with you. It is extremely important to understand one's emotions, as very frequently, there are hidden motivators directing us to behave or speak in ways that we are not as in control of as we could be. Good God, did that make any sense? It seemed to flow right out when I was typing it but now I am not so sure.
Let me know....

Anyway, StarLover, what about Italy and France? I think those countries are beautiful! My family is from Sicily, incidentally. Well, my mother's side anyway. It is gorgeous there!

Italy and France are too cramped for Starlover. Spoken like a true American, me like large areas with more open space. Sure it's beautiful, but so are the Colorado mountains, the Grand Canyons, and all of Arizona. I've never visited these places, but I watch the travel channel religiously. Actually, I'll be visiting Rome with my Latin class in Feb. of next year. The good thing about Europe is that it's old, the bad thing about Europe is that it's old. I love this land too much, and no matter what I'll always live here through thick and thin, of course I'll travel, but I'll always return to where I belong. Just so you know my Rising Sign is in Cancer. I looked at my chart with USA's chart, and apparently we're soulmates! I can't wait to go see the Vatican museum, the gladiator place, Pompeii, maybe I'll catch a glimpse of the pope, and so much more! I hope I have a deja vu experience. What I really want to see though, is the church with all the human bones inside. Yay!

Have you ever watched shows from the Food Channel? It's very strange, that channel portrays the true heart of America. Certain food shows travel around finding foods from different states, and the way America is portrayed is just so wonderful and beautiful. Hamburgers to apple pies are the trademarks of America. You know what I'm talking about it's the channel with the Iron Chef and Emeril. You should watch Al Rokaw travel from state to state trying new foods, and at the same time you get a real glimpse of the differences we have. For instance, going to Nashville isn't like going to Boston, and Seatle isn't like going to Miami. Same country, but we're not the same. It's more like we've all been tossed in a salad. You can't say that about Italy or France.

Ahhhhh, so you're Cancer rising!!! Makes a lotta sense I know what you're saying about Europe being "old" in both the good and the bad sense. I have to admit that even though I love Italy, it's nice to use a regular toilet once in a while! In restaurants it's especially annoying b/c you usually have those "stand up" ones and for a girl that just bites!!
I agree Star, that there are beautiful landscapes in our country. I have been to Colorado and the mountains there are gorgeous. However, I usually feel too land-locked after a while and living out West (except for Cali) unfortunately does not suit my penchant for water sports I do like to visit though from time to time!
One day, I hope to move to Europe - probably either Ireland or Italy. I can't decide. Maybe BOTH!!! By that time I will have dual citizenship b/c my father is a citizen of Ireland and I am waiting for my own papers to come in.....
I guess since my grandparents on both my mother's and father's side of the family were born in Europe, I am closer to my roots overseas than people whose families have been here several generations. (Not sure if yours has been but just assuming....)
Anyhow, I never seem to get around to watching those food channels I know Cancers love food and believe it or not, I have no Cancer in my chart anywhere.... Maybe that's why I don't like to cook much. The eating part is ok..when I'm not in a rush!!!!

Looks like the Dems aren't the only ones with foul mouths:

At a recent Republican campaign stop, Vice President Cheney was quoted as saying, "When you hear that kids are graduating from our schools, and they can't even !$@*ing read - That's just $!*@ sad. I mean, if they can't read, they'll be limited to Bull!@#* jobs that don't pay *!@#*. Nobody *!@*#ing wants that *!@##* kind of *!$!@* for our youth."
http://www.brokennewz.com/displaystory.asp_Q_storyid_E_1049literacy

Found this too:

Cheney finds foul language irresistible

By Curt Andersen
News-Chronicle
I don’t know how Conservatives do it. Can you spell high-pock-ruh-cee? I am regularly stunned by the frequency of the use of a double standard by Conservatives, but even more so, at their ability to pretend they’re not doing it.

The latest issue that brings this to mind is the use of some serious Anglo-Saxon phrasing by Dick Cheney, while cursing Senator Leahy. In general, the Senator was told to have sex with himself. Later, Cheney commented that it needed to be said and that it felt good to say it. How odd that we now have the Conservative VP saying, “If it feels good, do it!”

Because of good timing, the curse-out wasn’t nationally televised on C-Span…and what a shame that citizens might have been able to see our VP acting like a street punk.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, at radio stations around the country, people using profane language could get huge fines, depending on which version of the pending House and Senate bills will pass, if either. The current maximum fine is $27,500.

In a standard fit of mindless busy-work, with the country mired in an unjustified war, the economy stagnant, and with jobs leaving the country, the Senate joined the House in promoting ridiculous new fines for broadcasters that air foul language or indecent programming. By the Senate bill, broadcasters would be fined as much as $275,000 per incident, and up to $3 million a day. The House passed a bill that would raise fines to a maximum of $500,000 per offense. No sense working on serious problems.

Therein lies the hypocrisy…it’s okay and cute for the VP to use some very foul language in Congress, but not okay for some other schmuck to do it on the radio.

Words have always been a problem for Conservatives. A couple of years ago I used the word “wiz” to refer to urinating. I was chastised for using such heinous language. It was directed at local misRepresentative Mark Green (8th Congressional District, Green Bay) who fervidly supports the war in Iraq, while he has voted against veterans’ benefits, including an increase in spending for health care benefits for wounded veterans. Green did not serve in our armed forces, much like other Chicken Hawks like Dick Cheney, Paul Wolfowitz, Richard Perle, and Karl Rove. It was especially galling that draft dodgers such as Cheney called those who oppose military action in Iraq 'cowards,' and that included lots of veterans.

To Conservatives, off-color words are criminal but heinous actions are okey-dokey. The hypocrisy allows them to Save the Unborn! while wasting the lives of service people in a contrived war to steal oil.

Following the Iranian hostage crisis in 1979-81, Congress voted unanimously to forbid the sale of weapons to Iran. Hypocrisy allows Conservatives to worship those who traded arms to Iran anyhow, and to forgive those who used the proceeds to fund death squads in El Salvador…death squads that murdered thousands of innocent men, women, and children, including nuns and priests. Double-hypocrisy has this group claiming Christianity while looking the other way on the murders.

The hypocrisy continues by right-wing “Christians’” promotion of war, which was the opposite of what was preached by Jesus, who is called “The Prince of Peace,” not the “Prince of War”.

Conservatives criticize democratic candidate for President, John Kerry, for being one of the “wealthy elite,” whatever that is, while the Bush dynasty has its own enormous pile of dough. Hypocrisy.

They have criticized Kerry’s wife (who is not actually running, in case you were not aware) for building ketchup factories in Europe, while the Bush family is selling weapons to foreign countries…re: Carlyle Group…and other Conservatives are closing factories in America and opening new factories in China, Vietnam, Malaya, et al.

Conservatives criticized Democratic candidate for Vice President, John Edwards, for not having enough experience…as if Bush had enough experience, aside from being a failed businessman in spite of being propped up by wealthy contributors. (This was more of an investment than welfare for the profligate son of a rich guy.)

Then there are the criticisms for flip-flopping. This baloney goes back to much earlier times in our history, but it is strikingly odd that those who agree with this charge against Kerry are unable to recognize that Bush has flip-flopped like a beached carp. The most obvious is the flip-flop from “We’ll go to Iraq ourselves!” to “We need help from the international community to stabilize Iraq.”

Hypocrisy allows Conservatives to pretend the war is justified while it blows up in their faces.

Whatever Teresa Heinz Kerry's opinions may be at least she has opinions.

She won't be hiding out in the White House like Laura whose only function as First Lady seems to be smiling admiringly up at Dubya. Is it true that Laura is one of the Stepford Wives graduates?

If Teresa called another woman a scumbag she isn't the first woman to do that.
