Teresa: My Critics Are 'Scumbags'

Hot-tempered would-be first lady Teresa Heinz Kerry has once again lashed out at her critics, this time during a Pittsburgh television interview where she called them "scumbags."

The ugly outburst, revealed nationally for the first time in a lengthy profile in the Sept. 27 issue of The New Yorker magazine, is the most outrageous so far by the billionaire ketchup heiress and pushes the bounds of behavior voters might accept in a first lady.

The New Yorker's Judith Thurman chronicled some of Heinz Kerry's more well-known verbal gaffes before noting the videotaped vulgarity:
"She dismissed voters skeptical of her husband’s health-care proposals as 'idiots,' and, in a television interview with a Pittsburgh anchorwoman, employed the word 'scumbags' to describe some of her detractors," Thurman said.

"There are these bizarre moments that make you shudder," one Kerry adviser told Thurman. "Like calling herself African-American to black audiences."

In an effort to put Heinz Kerry's vulgar verbiage in context, The New Yorker writer explained, "I doubt that she knows the literal meaning of 'scumbag,' but perhaps, after forty years in America, nearly thirty of them as a political wife, observing how the flaws and contradictions of a personality as complex as hers are melted down for ammunition by the other side, she should have learned it."

Hehehe, Teresa Heinz Kerry can't believe she moved to America and married a politican....twice. Slow learner or another America basher?

Testy Teresa Tirade: I Can't Believe I Came to America

It didn't take long for the rigors of the campaign trail to sour first lady-in-waiting Teresa Heinz, who fumed yesterday that she "can't believe" she moved to America and married an American politician.

"I can't believe my family left Africa and came to this country," Heinz Kerry complained to the New York Post's Cindy Adams. "I can't believe I ever even married an American."

"A politician's wife has a hard life," she said. "To become more of a 'thing' and less of a person is terrible."

Teresa's tirade continued, "I can't believe I married a second politician." Then referring to her first husband, the late Sen. John Heinz, she blasted: "I can't believe I married the first politician. He wasn't one when we met."

"What people don't know is that I am basically shy. I never wanted to do this," Heinz Kerry complained.

As hard as it will be for some of you to believe, there are times when I actually feel sorry for Kerry

Monday, March 1, 2004 10:40 a.m. EST
Teresa Heinz Still Shunning Kerry Name

Though reporters have been referring to Sen. John Kerry's wife as Teresa Heinz Kerry for months, the prospective first lady admitted Sunday that the "Heinz Kerry" moniker is just a campaign ruse.

"My official name is still Teresa Heinz," she told the Los Angeles Times.

What about her reported decision last year to add the Kerry suffix, and the fact that she's identified in her official campaign biography as Teresa Heinz Kerry?

That's just "political stuff," Mrs. Heinz huffed, while in the midst of signing campaign posters using the "Heinz Kerry" name.

"If I only put 'Teresa Heinz' it would be 'Why?' And 'Ya ya ya,'" she complained. "My official name [Teresa Heinz] is my official name, and I wouldn't change one iota."

To bolster her case, Mrs. Heinz invoked other female relatives of her husband who declined to take the Kerry name, explaining: "His married sister has her maiden name. His sister-in-law married to his brother has her maiden name.

"It really isn't a big deal," she insisted.

There's a lot more to Teresa Heinz than meets the eye.

Tuesday, June 15, 2004 1:59 p.m. EDT
Heinz Kerry-Funded Web Site Praises Hezbollah

A Web site partially funded by Teresa Heinz Kerry offers a report glorifying Hezbollah (Hizbullah) suicide bombers as "deified in paradise and venerated on earth for fighting Israel" - and praises the terrorist group's support network for women widowed by their husband's "martyrdom" attacks.

Women's eNews.org still features the September 2003 report, written by Sarah Smiles, who's identified as a "WeNews correspondent."

Smiles interviewed a number of Lebanese women who were widowed after their husbands decided to join in the cause of killing Israelis and Americans.

At the end of her screed, the Web site notes:

"Women's eNews is supported by our readers; reprints and licensing fees; and the Fund for the City of New York, the Teresa and H. John Heinz III fund of the Heinz Family Foundations, the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, the Barbara Lee Family Foundation, the Rockefeller Family Fund, The Helena Rubinstein Foundation, the Sister Fund, the Starry Night Fund."

First noted yesterday by OpinionJournal.com, the Heinz Kerry-funded report reads like a recruiting brochure for suicide bombers. Here are some highlights:

"Hizbullah has built up an impenetrable support network for the women. Through the Hizbullah martyrs' wives association some 2500 families in Lebanon receive a monthly salary, free health care and schooling for their children – to the tune of $1,200 each a month.

"'We do everything in our power to make them feel they are not missing anything,' says Mohsan Shaheen, a spokesperson for the association. 'Anything a martyr's wife wants, we will give it to her, basically, because her husband sacrificed himself. The only thing we can't provide for her is to bring him back.'

"On top of sending their children to the best schools and universities abroad if they choose, the association runs vocational training classes and seminars for the woman and offers a dating service to help them remarry if they wish. ..."

Comments from Hezbollah suicide widows:

"A staunch, pious woman veiled completely in black, Naji shows little regret about her ultimately fateful marriage.

"'When I married him, I knew he followed the party. I knew I had a martyr at home,' she says. Leaning closer, she confesses her ambitions for her sons, the youngest of whom was a nursling when Aboud died.

"'When my sons tell me: "I hope to become a martyr one day," I say: "I hope so too. I hope God chooses you as a martyr.'"

"'Although a mother doesn't need to tell the son of a martyr to do it,' she says, 'she may guide him towards it, but really, it's innate. He automatically has a feeling that he must follow his father.' ...

"Pregnant when her husband Ahmed Fadlallah was killed in a Hizbullah operation in 1999, Zoorgoof has struggled to come to terms with the loss.

"'I tell my daughter: "your father is a hero." I take her to his grave. But this feeling of loneliness and despair ...' she says, her voice growing distant.

"Since Fadlallah's death, Zoorgoof has relied heavily on the Hizbullah martyrs' wives association, which is helping her buy a house and pays for her to go to university, where she is studying Arabic literature.

"'Hizbullah is like a family. It takes care of us, provides for us,' she says."

My, my 26T, you're showing the same intolerance for dissent of opinion as Teresa Heinz.

Now, I wonder how the rumor ever got started that liberals were the tolerant, broad minded citizens among us?

Your comment 26T, epitomizes my experience with liberals. One can speak and say anything...as long as it's something a liberal agrees with. Otherwise, shut up and sit down. That's true in the liberal Democrat party, it's true in the classrooms of liberal professors, on university campuses and it's shocking, shocking I say to find that mindset here.

One problem 26T, I didn't say those things. Teresa Heinz did. Wonder why you would object to having her comments posted here?

Care to comment on that?

Teresa's Enron connection with Enron's Ken Lay, the most disgusting example of corporate greed in America....to hear liberals tell the story.

This one's for you 26T.

Saturday, Feb. 7, 2004 2:59 p.m. EST
Media Mum on Heinz Kerry's Enron Connection

It didn't get much attention back when Sen. John Kerry was a cellar dweller in the presidential polls. But now that he's the undisputed, all but certain, presumptive Democratic Party nominee, we're wondering where the coverage is on Teresa Heinz Kerry's Enron connection.

Long after Enron chairman Ken Lay had been demonized as a ruthless corporate buccaneer who had cheated widows and orphans out of their life savings, the man Dems love to invoke to beat up the Bush White House sat on the board of Teresa's Heinz Center Foundation.

In fact, Lay was reportedly a Heinz Center trustee for more than a decade, resigning just last year. That was around the time presidential candidate John Kerry started bashing "special interests" in Washington, zeroing in on Enron by name.

Last July, the Washington Times obtained samples of personal correspondence from the Heinz Center to Mr. Lay, praising him for his management style.

"Ken," wrote one of Teresa's representatives, "Simply stated, your background, expertise and experience make you uniquely qualified [to run our] global-warming [initiative]."

When asked about Mrs. Heinz Kerry's Enron connection, a Heinz Center spokeswoman explained to the Washington Post, "Whatever troubles he had at Enron, Ken Lay had a good reputation in the environmental community for being a businessman who was environmentally sensitive."

"When someone does wrong in one part of their life, it doesn't mean they can't do good in another part of their life," she added.

Some harmless issue oriented banter is fun 26T but I do have an interest in knowing why posting stories about Teresa Heinz would ruffle your feathers?

Do you believe the quotes attributed to Teresa Heinz are not true? Is it because she's a woman?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I have you down as leaning towards the anarchist point of view and apolitical...as paras claims to be.

I would love to give you the satisfaction you so would love to have to think you have ''ruffled some feathers'', but I simply am confused why you feel the need to share these articles about Teresa Heinz HERE.

She is not the one running for president, so unless SHE is trying to be the next leader of the **ahem** ''free'' world, why bother picking on HER?

It seems to me (and I am merely stating an OPINION I have) that you, jwhop, are trying desperately to stir s*@t with people of the liberal persuasion by continuing to post silly things like this here. And when these people respond to you, you talk circles around them and continue to not take anything they have to say to mean anything. You want more, more, more ''proof'' of what they say, and even when information is presented to you, you can't just leave it at that, you go out of your way to discredit the source.... when apparently your sources of information are always accurate and non-biased. Hum....

But back to the topic at hand, WHO THE HELL CARES. She is the WIFE of the Democratic nominee, not the nominee herself. Unless of course you have posted this in yet another effort to try and convert all members of LL to your way of thinking....

**Ghani braces herself, but only half-heartedly**

Well, I know that jwhop loves to post lengthy articles and it's no secret he is a right-wing kind of guy, but seriously, doesn't it at least make any of you wonder?

Ok, I mean, I guess Teresa H. can do whatever she wants with her $$$$ but it does raise an eyebrow to read that she is funding a site which in turn praises suicide bombers, doesn't it? I mean, then you get to thinking - Ok, so if this is Kerry's wife, what does it say about him that this is the gal who's on his "team" so to speak? I'd be a little concerned. I know we all like to blow a little hot air at times, but this article is not one that's so easily blown off, in my opinion. Also, I would say that in all fairness, let's comment on what we've actually read...

We shouldn't necessarily discredit the source just because we don't like or agree with who it's coming from, right? I would make the same argument for anyone on the left as well.....

Having said that, jwhop - your input might be taken more seriously if you step down as "the Caped Crusader" every once and a while I think some people tend to go on "automatic defense pilot" when it comes to some of your posts (even though we all love a good old Superhero every now and then!!!)

Ghani, I could not disagree with you more about Teresa Heinz. Given that she wants to be First Lady, and given our experience with Hillary Clinton and Filegate, Travelgate, secret panels scheming to take over and nationalize about 15% of the US economy, her cattle futures trading scandal, the Castle Grande scandal et al., it behooves Americans to examine Teresa very carefully.

Perhaps you don't remember but Hillary hired a guy named Craig Livingstone for a White House position. Livingstone requisitioned 900 FBI files...illegally, I might add, for Hillary's private perusal. Livingstone's previous experience was bouncer at a nightclub. We called that Filegate.

Hillary was also involved in making false charges against the White House Travel Office personnel. Had them arrested by the FBI and prosecuted. All because she wanted to get rid of them so her friends the Tomlinson's could take over the office. To show what a *itch Hillary really is, it wasn't necessary to go to those lengths to get rid of the travel office personnel, they are career civil servants who served at the pleasure of the President....past Presidents too. A federal jury acquitted them in less than 10 minutes of deliberation. We called that Travelgate.

Hillary convened a secret panel of so called health care experts and attempted to nationalize the health care industry in the United States. It took a federal lawsuit to get the names of the panel members released by the White House. We called that Hillarycare. By the way, before someone attempts to interject the fact that Bush and Cheney have withheld the names of panel members too, it should be noted that Hillary was not a government employee, was not a cabinet member, not President or Vice President and therefore had no right to executive privilege.

Hillary was involved in a scandal whereby Tyson Foods passed along a bribe to the Clinton's disguised as a cattle futures trading account. Problem is that the methods used by the Tyson trader, Red something or the other was illegal.....pooling is the method. Hillary deposited $10,000 in the trading account, other proxy traders, read Tyson Foods, contributed to the pooled account. Then trades were made from the account. All the winning trades were credited to Hillary's account and all the losing trades were debited against the other traders in the pool. Red lost his futures trading license over that but Tyson got the bribe to the Clinton's and Bill Clinton gave Tyson a waiver to further pollute the Arkansas waterways. We called that Cattlegate.

Hillary was involved in a phony land sale scheme....Bill too. It operated like this. The McDougals owned a bank in Arkansas...friends of Bill and Hillary. The bank loaned the McDougals money to buy raw land on the river which was marked up dramatically and sold as lots to friends of Bill and Hillary for no money down. The bank approved and funded all the loans, paid the funds into the proper accounts. By the way, Bill and Hillary got a 50% equity share in that land sales company for absolutely no invested money. Anyway the buyers promptly defaulted on the loans....as planned and the bank foreclosed the loans. Bill and Hill and the McDougals kept the money...of course, since that was always the plan. The McDougal's bank was finally declared insolvent and the taxpayers of America ate those loans. Hillary was an attorney for the Rose Law Firm and drew up some documents surrounding the purchase of the land and subsequent sale of the lots though she denied it. The following people were convicted for fraud and went to jail, Jim McDougal and Arkansas Governor Jim Guy Tucker were convicted on multiple counts of financial fraud directly related to the Castle Grande deal. Susan McDougal was convicted of fraudulently obtaining a $300,000 loan that was tied to Castle Grande. In November 1998, independent counsel Ken Starr indicted Bill Clinton's friend, Web Hubbell and Hubbell went to jail too. Ken Starr also subpoenaed Hillary's Rose Law firm billing records...which suddenly couldn't be found. 2 years or more later, they were miraculously found on a table in the entry to the personal living quarters of Bill and Hillary in the White House. We called that Whitewater.

So Ghani, you can bet your bippy we're going to examine Teresa Heinz, the First Lady wannabe, very carefully and for the best of reasons.
