I don't give a damn 'bout my reputation
You're living in the past, it's a new generation
A girl can do what she wants to do and that's what I'm gonna do

An' I don't give a damn 'bout my bad reputation
Oh no, not me

An' I don't give a damn 'bout my reputation
Never said I wanted to improve my station
An' I'm only doin' good when I'm havin' fun
An' I don't have to please no one

An' I don't give a damn 'bout my bad reputation
Oh no, not me, oh no, not me

I don't give a damn 'bout my reputation
I've never been afraid of any deviation
An' I don't really care if ya think I'm strange
I ain't gonna change

An' I'm never gonna care 'bout my bad reputation
Oh no, not me, oh no, not me

[ From: http://www.metrolyrics.com/bad-reputation-lyrics-joan-jett.html ]

Pedal boys!

An' I don't give a damn 'bout my reputation
The world's in trouble, there's no communication
An' everyone can say what they wanna say
It never gets better, anyway

So why should I care 'bout a bad reputation anyway?
Oh no, not me, oh no, not me

I don't give a damn 'bout my bad reputation
You're living in the past, it's a new generation
An' I only feel good when I got no pain
An' that's how I'm gonna stay

An' I don't give a damn 'bout my bad reputation
Oh no, not me, oh no, not me
Not me, not me

Little girl with the press and curl
Age eight I got a Jheri curl
Thirteen I got a relaxer
I was a source of so much laughter
At fifteen when it all broke off
Eighteen and went all natural
February two thousand and two
I went and did
What I had to do
Because it was time to change my life
To become the women that I am inside
Ninety-seven dreadlock all gone
I looked in the mirror
For the first time and saw that HEY....

[Chorus]
I am not my hair
I am not this skin
I am not your expectations no no
I am not my hair
I ma not this skin
I am a soul that lives within

[Talking:]
What'd she do to her hair? I don't know it look crazy
I like it. I might do that.
Umm I wouldn't go that far. I know .. ha ha ha ha

[Verse 2]
Good hair means curls and waves
Bad hair means you look like a slave
At the turn of the century
Its time for us to redefine who we be
You can shave it off
Like a South African beauty
Or get in on lock
Like Bob Marley
You can rock it straight
Like Oprah Winfrey
If its not what's on your head
Its what's underneath and say HEY....

[Chorus]

[Bridge]
(Whoa, whoa, whoa)
Does the way I wear my hair make me a better person?
(Whoa, whoa, whoa)
Does the way I wear my hair make me a better friend? Oooh
(Whoa, whoa, whoa)
Does the way I wear my hair determine my integrity?
(Whoa, whoa, whoa)
I am expressing my creativity..
(Whoa, whoa, whoa)

[Verse 3]
Breast Cancer and Chemotherapy
Took away her crown and glory
She promised God if she was to survive
She would enjoy everyday of her life ooh
On national television
Her diamond eyes are sparkling
Bald headed like a full moon shining
Singing out to the whole wide world like HEY...

[Chorus]
I am not my hair
I am not this skin
I am not your expectations no no
I am not my hair
I ma not this skin
I am a soul that lives within

Hey girls, good stuff!
A friend of mine posted a video to this song this morning. 'Bout broke my heart.

I don't get many things right the first time
In fact, I am told that a lot
Now I know all the wrong turns, the stumbles and falls
Brought me here

And where was I before the day
That I first saw your lovely face?
Now I see it everyday
And I know

That I am
I am
I am
The luckiest

What if I'd been born fifty years before you
In a house on a street where you lived?
Maybe I'd be outside as you passed on your bike
Would I know?

And in a white sea of eyes
I see one pair that I recognize
And I know

That I am
I am
I am
The luckiest

I love you more than I have ever found a way to say to you

Next door there's an old man who lived to his nineties
And one day passed away in his sleep
And his wife; she stayed for a couple of days
And passed away

I'm sorry, I know that's a strange way to tell you that I know we belong
That I know

That I am
I am
I am
The luckiest

When I'm lyin' in my bed at night
I don't wanna grow up
Nothing ever seems to turn out right
I don't wanna grow up
How do you move in a world of fog that's
always changing things
Makes wish that I could be a dog
When I see the price that you pay
I don't wanna grow up
I don't ever want to be that way
I don't wanna grow up
Seems that folks turn into things
that they never want
The only thing to live for is today...
I'm gonna put a hole in my T.V. set
I don't wanna grow up
Open up the medicine chest
I don't wanna grow up
I don't wanna have to shout it out
I don't want my hair to fall out
I don't wanna be filled with doubt
I don't wanna be a good boy scout
I don't wanna have to learn to count
I don't wanna have the biggest amount
I don't wanna grow up
Well when I see my parents fight
I don't wanna grow up
They all go out and drinkin all night
I don't wanna grow up
I'd rather stay here in my room
Nothin' out there but sad and gloom
I don't wanna live in a big old tomb on grand street
When I see the 5 oclock news
I don't wanna grow up
Comb their hair and shine their shoes
I don't wanna grow up
Stay around in my old hometown
I don't wanna put no money down
I don't wanna get a big old loan
Work them fingers to the bone
I don't wanna float on a broom
Fall in love, get married then boom
How the hell did it get here so soon
I don't wanna grow up

Oh, I could hide 'neath the wings
Of the bluebird as she sings.
The six o'clock alarm would never ring.
But it rings and I rise,
Wipe the sleep out of my eyes.
My shavin' razor's cold and it stings.

Cheer up, Sleepy Jean.
Oh, what can it mean.
To a daydream believer
And a homecoming queen.

You once thought of me
As a white knight on a steed.
Now you know how happy I can be.
Oh, and our good times start and end
Without dollar one to spend.
But how much, baby, do we really need.

Cheer up, Sleepy Jean.
Oh, what can it mean.
To a daydream believer
And a homecoming queen.
Cheer up, Sleepy Jean.
Oh, what can it mean.
To a daydream believer
And a homecoming queen.

[Instrumental interlude]

Cheer up, Sleepy Jean.
Oh, what can it mean.
To a daydream believer
And a homecoming queen.
[Repeat and fade]

On The Bound by Fiona Apple

All my life is on me now
Hail the pages turning
And the future's on the bound
Hell don't know my fury

You're all I need, you're all I need, you're all I need
You're all I need, you're all I need, you're all I need
You're all I need

And maybe some faith would do me good
I don't know what I'm doing, don't know should I change my mind
I can't decide, there's too many variations to consider
No thing I do don't do no thing but bring me more to do
It's true, I do imbue my blue unto myself, I make it bitter

Baby, lay your head on my lap one more time
Tell me you belong to me
Baby say that it's all going to be alright
I believe that it isn't

You're all I need, you're all I need, you're all I need
You're all I need, you're all I need, you're all I need
You're all I need

And maybe some faith would do me good
And maybe some faith would do me good
And maybe some faith would do me good

This is the song I was telling you about, MM. It's the music, especially at the beginning that I love. A nice, mean, nasty bass piano. Mmmm...

My Talking Heads cd

all day, everyday.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Making Flippy Floppy (Stop Making Sense version)"
Nothing can come between us,
nothing gets you down.
Nothing strikes your fancy,
nothing turns you on.
You don't have to wait for more instructions,
no one makes a monkey out of me,
we lie on our backs, feet in the air,
rest and relaxation, rocket to my brain.
Snap into position,
bounce till you ache.
Step out of line,
and you'll end up jail.
Doctor, doctor,
we have nothing in our pockets.
We continue,
but we have nothing left to offer.
Faces pressed against the window,
hey, they're just my friends.
Check this out! Don't be so slick!
Break our backs! It goes like this...
We are born without eyesight,
we are born without sin.
And our mama protects us,
from the cold and the rain.
We're in no hurry,
sugar and spice.
We sleep in the darkness,
and we open our eyes.
I can't believe it,
and people are strange.
Our president's crazy,
did you hear what he said?
Business and pleasure,
lie right to your face.
Divide it in sections,
and then give it away.
There are no big secrets,
don't believe what you read.
We have great big bodies,
we got great big heads.
Run-a-run-a-run it all together,
still don't make no sense.
Makin' flippy floppy,
trying to do my best.
Lock the door,
we kill the beast.
Kill it!
....always thought he said: "& our karma protects us."
not "mama".
Hey, for some people it's karma, for some, it's mama.
I love the 2nd verse to The Fray's 'Look After You'
quote:
There now, steady love, so few come and don't go
Will you, won't you, be the one I'll always know
When I'm losing my control, the city spins around
You're the only one who knows, you slow it down
The lead singer wrote this song for his then girlfriend who is now his wife. You can really feel the love he has for her in those lyrics.
"There's nothing like deep breaths after laughing that hard. Nothing in the world like a sore stomach for the right reasons." — Stephen Chbosky
as i'm continuing to spray paint my life away, the song plays in my head.
& i think, what brilliancy!
this part:
"Baby's in Reno with the vitamin D."
i think what he's saying is that his baby is having a blast in Reno or somewhere else (similar to a big city like Reno), point is, she's having fun. She's happy (vitamin D = the sunshine vitamin), without him. She took her "happiness", the vitamin D with her, wherever she hypothetically went, and he's now left alone, without her "sunshine", depressed...
might be high off spray paint fumes now.
great song anyway.
