Hello again, Mystique:

You are definitely on the right track there. But did you also notice that:

1 + 21 = 22 and that 22/2 = the 11 again?
7 + 15 = 22 which again divided by 2= 11

So, between the means and the extremes we have the 11. Not the 8. Therefore, 11 is the correct symbol for The Balance or Justice and the 8 is the correct position for the Lion Muzzled. (also called Strength in the Higher Arcana) I also just noticed that Saturn, associated with the number 8 represents ties, bindings, crystallization; suppression if you will.

The 8th Tarot card is Strength (or The Lion Muzzled). Muzzle.. a binding! See these things never cease to amaze and amuse me.

At any rate.. That would seem to imply that it is by an act of WILL, <Leo>, that our Higher Nature SUBDUES (there's Saturn again) our Lower nature, represented by the Lion.

And there would be another example of Esoteric Astrology, Qabalistically speaking.

Well, Mystique it doesn't surprise me that you have the Aries thing goin' on, didn't I mention that Fire energy I felt?

Also if you add 1 (first number of 1st row) and 21 (last # of 3rd row) you get 22/2=11.
Same with 7 and 15 = 22/2=11.
If we look at the 4, 11 and 18 now ...if I add 3 and 5 on either side of 4 = 8 which divided by 2 = 4 (the middle number of 1st row. Again 2 and 6 on either side of 4, added together gives us 8/2 =4 the middle number. We do that using 4 in 1st row, 11 in the 2nd row and 18 in the 3rd row the two numbers on either side will always equal the the middle number when divided by 2 (the balance).
In the middle row as you add the two numbers on either side of 11 and then the next pair and so on, will always give you 22...the master number which when divided again = 11, the balance.
Oh darn my mind is overloaded now and I have reached a block! Have to go now but will be back....my observations above are probably so obvious to the quicker Mercuries, so

Okay, I'm back now...so, 21 shows multiples of 7 the spiritual but what brings it to physical manifestation?
The 22nd arcana missing above is obviously the 0, the Fool and he represents our journey through the experience of the energy each number represents in the major arcana example: 1 Magician and 0 the Fool in his creative thought = 10. So that even as he reaches 7 (in the 1st row) you get 10 + 7 = 17 then 1+7=8 where his will and strength, 8 (Saturn) drive him (Leo) to build on his original idea, where he began at the Magician.
So in other words the Fool changes the pattern above from multiples of 7 (3*7=21),spiritual realm 7, to the physical realm 22 (2+2=4)4 thus manifesting Spirit 7 into Matter 4.
7 + 4 = 11 the Balance (Libra) As above so Below.

How am I doing so far Aselzion?

And another little thought 0 (the Fool in the arcana) representing God in the sense that 0 is a complete circle, eternity and the Omnipitent Complete Father, in the earlier posts we discussed how 704 = GOD....once again God is in everything and behind every mystery!

Hi Mystique...

Great work! (there's a little Qabalistic pun there)

It is as you say, the Fool has the ability to Journey though all of the other Cards/numbers/experiences.

Now... did you notice that your rendering of GOD as 7+0+4= 11. Which again brings us to the Balance/Justice or LIBRA. And, as I have mentioned elsewhere, Libra is the only sign of the zodiac not represented by a living entity. Interesting!

If you rendered GOD as 7+15+4, as you can in the English Qabalah, you get the number 26.

In Hebrew the 4 lettered name of God is Yod Heh Vav Heh. Yod = 10, Heh = 5, Vav = 6 and Heh is 5. 10+5+6+5= 26.

Suggest anything?

Aha! I am beginning to understand the spiritual significance of the 26th deg in the zodiac. My 6th and 12th house rulers are both at 26deg, and both very prominent....just wanted to share this little titbit right away....I have to run now but will be back later on....and don't worry I did not forget the Libra (inanimate symbol), you mentioned a couple times now...still pondering on that one.....arghhhh I will get it...don't spill the beans just yet, okay!

Aselzion don't laugh but here are some of my thoughts

The 1+21=22 is interesting because it shows us the journey of the Fool where creation, the One, Magician combines all his experiences/trials/enlightenment to reach manifestation of the idea through to 21, the Universe. The sum being 22 when divided by 2 (indicating duality we experience on earth)shows how in that duality we also find the balance, 11, the Scales of Libra. It is the half-way point where we weigh how far we have come, so far on our journey and how far we still have to go. The Scales show us the balance or lack thereof as yet in our journey so that is why the Scales and not a living entity symbolize Libra...it is the point in our journey where we take a break and make a choice, look for balance

The number 26 which is the final letter Z in the English alphabet also comprises the word for God in Hebrew Yod-Heh-Vav-Heh....hmmm you said that the Hebrew alphabet only has 22 letters and the English has 26, so there is a difference of 4 letters btwn the two alphabets. Yet Yod Heh Vav Heh = 26 which 2+6=8
8 is also the symbol on the Magician's head signifying Eternity, Eternally connected!
Since 8 represents the Will (Leo) then the Sun (ruler of Leo) also the Ego, is guided and tamed by the Spirit (the maiden also has an 8 over her head as she holds the lion's mouth). The Spirit brings the Light to the carnal desires (the lion) of humanity.

Sorry I need time out here...(Aries Venus also conj my Sun/Moon midpoint...so you can know why the cardinal Aries enthusiasm in spurts!)

You know what I had a dream and while in hypnagogic state a voice called out "there is the Sphynx"...I looked around me not knowing who said it but definitely recognizing the voice and felt a "finger" pointing out to me as if I was the Sphynx...it was dark which I thinks explains the mystery to me.
What does the Sphynx symbolize in all this mystery Aselzion...I mean Qabalistically?

I hope you have more patience with me than I do with myself

Hello again Mystique...

Had to work this weekend, so I've been a bit slow in replying.

All of your thoughts are good examples of thinking in a Qabalistic fashion. Truly, anytime one's thoughts spiral on the Divine and revelation is found, this is Qabalistic: as Qabalah was originally thought to be sent from God to man through Her Angels Metatron and Auriel. (depending on which accounts one reads)

Here is another interesting point to ponder.
The Qabalistic Tree of Life Digram is laid out in the following fashion. I'll apoligize up front, cuz I don't know how this will look when it formats fo actual posting. Actually.. Hold on a sec, let me see if I can find an actual diagram to send you to:

Ok that should give you an image to work with.

You will note three colums of spheres, or Sephiroth, as they are called in Qabalah.

The column of spheres with the numbers: 3-5-8 is called the Pillar of Severity.

The colum of spheres with the numbers 2-4-7 is called the Pillar of Mercy.

It is the Central Pillar to which I would like to call your attention. It contains the Spheres or Sephiroth numbered: 1-6-9-10.
This is called the Pillar of BALANCE as it is held between the Pillars of Severity and Mercy.

If you add 1+6+9+10 = 26. And there again is the number of God's name.

Interesting, no? I thought so.

At any rate.. gotta go crash a bit. I'll ponder the Sphinx dream and get back to you in a bit.

Okay here is my thesis for tonight!

I have so many thoughts looking at The Tree of Life.....I had to sketch it myself on paper to get a feel for it. I then connected all the circles and the geometry is fascinating...where to begin man!
Aselzion I know you keep directing me to the number 26 and it feels so familiar and obvious inside of me somewhere but can't seem to grasp it consciously.

Allow me to blab for a while here.
26/2 = 13...this shows the Pillar of Mercy which again = 4 and then I look at the colours and 4 shows the Word manifested to the Universe (blue and blue background). The Pillar of Severity =7 and 7 is connected with the Snake as he travels up the Tree to the GodHead (green).
4+7 = 11 (here I go again with the 11) which shows the first master number, need for balance, but the balance only comes through God (Godlikeness in the middle Pillar).

The Pillar of Mercy, the 4 connects everything (I drew lines to make it more visible for me) example: if you connect 6, which I see as the Solar Plexus (yellow) to
4 and 5 you get 1+1+2 = 4. Same with 8 and 7 to 6 (1+1+2 = 4)etc. Showing that Mercy (the Pillar) is integrated or should be, in all we do in order to manifest the Promise of the Tree of Life!

The Pillar of Severity is a little different so far, it has a lot of red and is also connected to the Sword on top. I know connection is throughout the Tree but just showing you where my thoughts are going - not that I even know half the time but

The 3 5 and 8 are balanced directly by the 6 and so are 2 4 and 7...the 6 the solar plexus...as the Snake coils upwards from the 10 and 9 before he reaches the Top.

10 the completion/manifestation, abundance of our creation, the 9 going within to contemplate new journey, to seek wisdom, to commune with God, the 6, once again the balancing point where the two Pillars relate to each other, where we form our relationships with others and figure out what the heck we are all about, what are we trying to balance within ourselves so that ultimately we reach Unification with God, the 1.

So 10+9+6+1=26 which is 2 + 6 = 8 the number of Infinity, Eternity (the two circles comprising the 8 symbolize how everything is connected and balance requires 2...of everything; 2 people for relationship, action/reaction, cause/effect, as Above so Below...

My thoughts travel in different directions ahead of me most of the time, my Aquarius Asc so I apologize if you can't keep my thoughts on track...neither can anyone else

Wow! I can almost feel the wheels in your mind turning! You have taken this little conversation and run with it... and you wondered where I sensed Fire enrgy?

26, according to numerology, has been classd as "very good", but as often as not is a number of disaster, ruin by injudicious speculations, bad partnerships, greed and struggle. Linda named it Partnerships in Star Signs, and discussed both positive and negative meanings. So my mind toyed with a few ideas.

2+6=8. Saturn. The Taskmaster, the Teacher, Lord of Time, that which restricts, constricts, crystallizes and binds. Delays and frustrations... hard work! She can be methodical, practical, cautious... PRUDENT. He can also be PATIENT, loyal, the Ancient of Days... WISE. So like the 26, the 8 is full of seemingly contradictory meanings.

How do we reconcile that 26 is the number of God, with these other meanings?

One possibility: as we have said over and over, we are all reflections of God. We each are co-creators with the Father/Mother who art in Heaven. So.. how better to see God than through the face of OTHERS. It is in relating to other Souls that we define, or remember or emphatically state to the universe: this is Who I Am.

Do we not become or show both our BEST and WORST faces to those that we say we Love. Do we not hurt them the most, allow them to hurt us and then become Healed again through the power of LOVE?

Could we as easily restate that equation (2+6=8) as: Duality, a couple, a PAIR + LOVE= Eternity/Wisdom? Hmm.. just a thought.

Remembering of course that nothing ON EARTH is as good as it is in Heaven. So we get the highest of the highs and the lowest of the lows and everything in between in relatinship to others! It is a matter of choice, free will and HARD WORK! Hell, if it were EASY anybody could do it!

In terms of the Sphinx. Well, I can only say that it is the body of a lion (Leo) with the face of a woman (Virgo). I know for sure that both of those signs contain significant factors in my nativity. How do they relate to your own?

The Sphinx was also the guardian to the Temple of Wisdom.. prior to entry, one had to answer the "riddle of the Sphinx". Are you not challenging yourself to enter into that temple?

Just a thought.. but I'll keep rolling it around!

Greetings...

OK.. so in harmony with the rhythm of the unverse, I awoke at about 7:10am and what was talking to me from my television set, that I of course, had fallen asleep in front of?

A&E network was playing a program about the Egypt and more particularly about the Great Sphinx. How weird is that? Not weird at all in my world!

This prompted me to recall the Riddle of The Sphinx: What animal is it that in the morning goes on 4 feet, at noon on 2 feet and in the evening on 3 feet?

What do you make of that in light of the Qabalistic discussions we've been having? That would be the homework for today. Any thoughts, knowflakes?

I also dug up a book I have about the Sphinx by Graham Hancock and Robert Bauval called, The Message of the Sphinx: A Quest for the Hidden Legacy of Mankind.

Oh, and I recalled another 26: The four Fixed Signs of the zodiac are numbered :
2 (Taurus), 5 (Leo), 8 (Scorpio) and 11 (aquarius). They are called the serpent signs, and the 15th degree of each is said to be The Lords of Karma. If you add the 2+5+8+11= 26. Interesting, no?

Yes the animal IS man.

In terms of why the Four Fixed signs are called serpent signs, or also Power signs:

I believe it has to do with the Kundalini or Serpent force that coils about the root chakra. The Glyphs for the Fixed Signs show various stages of the rising or unleashing of that force.

The great Isabel Hickey had this to say:

"In Taurus the power is latent; the serpent is coiled up energy. In Leo it is active power, and the forces are in motion. In Scorpio the power has gone underground and is far more subtle and deadly if misused. And in Aquarius the higher serpent of wisdom is reflected in the earthly serpent force."

She had a great insight into Esoteric or spiritual astrology.

I'm sorry for my delay in answering, but yesterday was a very difficult day...

I asked on these signs because my solar sign is Leo, my asc is Aquarius, my Moon is in Taurus and for having four planets, besides Pluto in the 8th house ( relative to Scorpio subjects ), this sign is quite relevant in my chart.

Would these signs be the four horsemen of the Apocalypse?

Ezechiel 1:10 "And as for the likeness of their faces: there was the face of a man (Aquarius), and the face of a Lion (Leo) on the right side of all the four, and the face of an ox (Taurus), on the left side of till the four, and the face of an eagle (one of the symbols of Scorpio) over all the four."

In this same chapter there is reference to "Wheels" . . . .the spirit of life was in the wheels." Ez. 1:21 (Horoscope wheels?)

Revelation 4:7

In the center, around the throne, were four living creatures, and they were covered with eyes, in front and in back. The first living creature was like a lion, the second was like an ox, the third had a face like a man, the fourth was like a flying eagle.

Just my thoughts...what do you think ?

Look at this....I have a Fixed Grand Cross involving the angles, my Sun, Moon, Nodal Axis and Neptune...and we were wondering why since I first joined the Qabalah discussion with you, I had the dream with the Sphynx....hmmmmmm! No coincidences, man no way!
I just got off work but will talk a little later tonight, just wanted to stop in and say hello!

Thanks for reminding me of that verse in Revelations...Aselzion I believe that verse relates to the Sphynx!

Now, Aselzion to answer your question Virgo is very significant in my natal chart as well. My chart ruler and MC ruler are exactly conj in Virgo at 15degrees, which you said is a karmic degree. Can you explain to me - knowing you, you will probably challenge me to explain it first
- what you understand of it being karmic?
To jump a little ahead of you I see it as the point where a sign is really integrated into our being, since it is half point of 30degrees. Also you could say 7 Spiritual + 8 Saturn/Karma/Task Master (hard work to manifest spiritual gifts to physical reality) = 15. So thats my first question.

Secondly you say, and I think I mentioned this before, 26th degree is special. I was told a long time ago by a friend who is also a student of astrology, she read it somewhere on her travels so could not remember the source, but anyway, that 26th degree is blessed/good/karmic, and now it is brought to my attention once again. The 26th degree is highly significant in my chart as well, and one of the planets I have at that degree is Saturn! Now my Chiron has progressed to the 26th degree as well!
I have my Moon in a 26th degree as well!
All this to add to my mystery of the Sphynx dream

How about you guys...15 and 26 significant degrees in your charts?

I'm off to delve into the diagram of the Tree now before beddies...work awaits me tomorrow AGAIN!....

Ooops...I think I jumped the gun here (Aries!)...I re-read your post A, and you said the 15th deg of the Fixed signs is a Lord of Karma right?
Would the 15th deg not apply to other signs or maybe if they are in the Fixed houses I guess, right?

Jakie: I tend to think of the Four Fixed signs not as the horsemen of the apocalypse, but in their role as the 4 Archangels of the Heavenly Kingdom. Also please feel free to ask any questions.. no such thing as an interruption when talking metaphysics.. all Spiraling leads to enlightenment!

The quotes you mention, Jakie, remind me also certain Tarot cards.

For example the following Tarot cards contain the pictures that Jakie spoke of: The Wheel of Fortune and The World.

I equate the Archangels as follows: Bull (Taurus) = Auriel/Uriel. Lion (Leo) = Michael. Eagle (Scorpio) = Gabriel and Man (Aquarius) = Raphael.

So in this light, I don't think that the Faithful have anything to worry about if and when the Apocalypse comes...they have the protection of the 4 Archangels.

Jakie.. I have a full 8th house too! I'll think more about this and reply specifically under the thread that you posted! And I'm sorry to hear that you've had a challenging few days. I trust that all will turn out well, and I send you my thoughts and prayers.
