a Dragon asks unspoken questions and will not tolerate
attempts by lesser beings to dodge or fluctuate.

do not try to side-step, she will recognize your dance
do not create deception, wisely, do not take the chance.

make your answers straightforward, unerringly sincere,
for only honesty and candor will not offend her ear.

once she decides your motives and deems them right and just,
you'll have earned a staunch supporter and the Dragon's trust.

so if ye dare, look deeply into the Dragon's eyes,
but believe ye that she knows who is truthteller and who lies.

DZYU, the Serpent of Consciousness, is the master of the passage into manifestation. It is a secret fire that flashes through the hidden depths of the universe, moving in the spaces between realities. The excremental vibrations given off by the Serpent as it moves constitute the manifested realities. In its end is its beginning; it doesn't go anywhere, because just 'being' is its purpose. It consumes the energies of consciousness.

THE DRAGON GATE

The Guardian of the Gate between the worlds is the Dragon, which jealously guards its treasure of jewels - the souls of men whose consciousness is attuned to consensus reality and held there by bonds of belief and emotion. The Old Master said the Dragon Gate is made of spirit and energy joining together. If you can unite desire and reason, then the way to the Mysterious Pass will be opened. The Gate is hidden from the average man by a veil of intensity, energy vibrating at a higher speed than we are used to perceiving. Changing the focus of our consciousness activates unused energies within us, giving us the increased energies necessary for walking the worlds. The Dragon guards the Gate against the unworthy, and the "conquering" of the Dragon by Sages, Prophets and Saints is an indication that they have passed the Guardian. The entrance to the gate make take any form, such as a tunnel, a bridge or a wall of fog. The Guardian sometimes separates into two overlapping forms which coalesce back into one, showing forth the Great Mystery of entering Eternity.

Good post, Salome!

Have you ever dreamed a Dragon? I like the pictures. A Shaman's view very much parallels with the information you posted.

GRAND DRAGONS SOAR ON RA'S ROADS

esoteric meaning of Dragon ~

The term 'messiah' is a reference to the Dragon. The word actually comes from the Egyptian and means 'crocodile,' a beast often considered an earthly representative of the Dragon. Egyptian Pharoahs were anointed with crocodile fat when they ascended the throne to indicate that they would be fierce and fearless like the crocodile in protecting their people from enemies; thus, 'messiah' became one of the titles of Pharoah. When the Jews were in captivity in Egypt, they borrowed the word to refer to their prophesied future king. Later, those Jews who followed Jesus appropriated the term to refer to their spiritual king, Jesus. Since many ancient peoples, including the Chinese, Indians and Babylonians, all used the term 'Dragon' to refer to wise men with spiritual powers, it was ironically quite appropriate to refer to Jesus as a Dragon (Messiah).

"If you bring forth what is within you, what you bring forth will save you. If you do not bring forth what is within you, what you do not bring forth will destroy you."

~Jesus

Wow... that is awesome that you dream of dragons. I began reading about Shamanism and discover much about power animals. On Shamanic jorneys 'power animals' may be encountered which also have expression and purpose. As I was reading your post, it reminded me. Although a power animal has the appearance of a physical or mythical animal, it has no existence in the physical world. It exists in non-ordinary reality though its effects can be experienced in everyday life. So, although a power animal may be considered 'imaginary' it is 'real' all the same. and is a source of beneficial power.
Essentially, there are four kinds of power that explains its function in the shamanic experience:
*There is power that is an energizing force.
*There is power that is might and exerts control.
*There is power that is the ability or capacity to do work.
*There is power that is endowment of authority

A power animal is thus an energy-pattern of the abilities it characterizes.

So although a power animal possess all the qualities of its earth animal counterpart, it is supplying physical, emotional, mental and spiritual energy that can be expressed humanly. By connecting to this power source one can draw upon its characteristics qualities. We all have power animals whether we are aware of them or not. Indeed, we can even 'lose' one through illness, emotional trauma, mental strain or an abuse of some kind. Shamans believe that a power animal can be taken away from us unknowingly by another person sapping our energy. Retrieval of a power animal that has been 'lost' is a basic shamanic practice and a form of healing that can restore balance to an individual.

Shamans believe that a power animal increases physical and emotional energy and mental and spiritual alertness because the connection that is made is with the power-giving frequency of that particular source. Our auric cocoon and force-field thus becoming more vibrant and functions more harmoniously. A power animal also helps to resist any kind of harmful intrusion from mental, emotional or spiritual influences, or from physical infections or diseases. Shamans make it clear that a power animal is not an outside entity. It is a pattern of energy that is with you. It is not something that possess you. Rather, you possess it!

So when a Shaman talks of 'spirits', he or she is referring to an unmanifest life source that infuses and empowers whatever is manifested. A power within that enables every living thing to be what it is. Recognition of a power animal does not mean that its attributes are being used--only that they are there and seeking expression and development.

A power animal is a means of communicating with aspects of your own mortal nature as compared with the 'spiritual' nature of your immortal HigherSelf. A power animal represents a potential, or a talent, an ability or strength, that constitutes an expression of your totality.

In studying shamanism, Shamans dictate that
when confronted by a power animal during a shamanic journey, greet it as a friend and communicate with it as easily as with a human being. That means verbally or telepathically.

The key indicator of a Dragon: Ability to find what you are searching.

Dragon is also depicted as breathing flames, but this serpent fire is the 'electrical' energy in the chackra 'cave' at the base of the spine which rises up when the Higher mind has been aroused. In other words, dragon is a sign of initiation.

I am currently studying Shamanism... so you bringing this up it brought me to power animals and much of what you wrote parallels to its meaning! I will post more info later...

Thanks for posting, Salome.

Have a good night

Hi Salome ~ I remember your last Dragon thread many moons ago. I love Dragons too!
Thanks for posting this

In regard to shamans... I have some Medicine Cards and there's a story about Dragon in them:

27 - Dragonfly: Illusion
Dragonfly medicine is of the dreamtime and the illusionary facade we accept as physical reality. The iridescence of Dragonfly's wings reminds us of colors not found in our everyday experience. Dragonfly's shifting of color, energy, form, and movement explodes into the mind of the observer, bringing vague memories of a time or place where magic reigned.
Some legends say that Dragonfly was once Dragon, and that Dragon had scales like Dragonfly's wings. Dragon was full of wisdom, and flew through the night bringing light with its fiery breath. The breath of Dragon brought forth the art of magic and the illusion of changing form. Then Dragon got caught in its own facade. Coyote tricked Dragon into changing form, and the shape of its new body became like Dragonfly's. In accepting the challenge to prove its power and magical prowess, Dragon lost its power.
Dragonfly is the essence of the winds of change, the messages of wisdom and enlightenment, and the communications from the elemental world. This elemental world is made up of the tiny spirits of plants, and the elements air, earth, fire, and water. In essence, this world is full of nature spirits.
If Dragonfly has flown into your cards today, you may have forgotten to water your plants. On another level, you may need to give thanks to the foods you eat for sustaining your body. On the psychological level, it may be time to break down the illusions you have held that restrict your actions or ideas.
Dragonfly medicine always beckons you to seek out the parts of your habits which you need to change. Have you put on too much weight, or have you started to look like a scarecrow? Have you tended to the changes you have wanted to make in your life? If you feel the need for change, call on Dragonfly to guide you through the mists of illusion to the
pathway of transformation. See how you can apply the art of illusion to your present question or situation, and remember that things are never completely as they seem.

Contrary
Are you trying to prove to yourself or someone else that you have power? Are you caught in an illusion that weakens your true feelings or minimizes your abilities? If so, you may have contracted "Dragonfly dive-bombing." Is this the final "crash and burn" for some pipe-dream that had no real purpose? Look within and feel the sense-of-self energy within yourself. Notice if it is ebbing, and find the point in time when you were deluded into believing that you would be happier if you changed because someone else wanted you to. Misery is a prime clue that you lost your will and personal vitality when you bought into someone else's idea of who or what you should be. The illusion was that you would be happier if you did it their way. In forfeiting what you know is right and true for you personally, you give away your power. It is time to take it back. Follow Dragonfly to the place inside your body where magic is still alive, and drink deeply of its power. This strength belongs to you. It is the power of becoming the illusion. This ability is every
changing, and contains within it the knowledge that you are creating it all.

Overview - Confront denials. Break through illusions. Honor inner truths.

Also PeterPracownik does some awesome Dragon artwork! I have the Dragon Tarot and here's an example of how cool it is heheh:
-10 The Wheel of Fortune
The Great Dragon Oroborous lies coiled around a glyph of the zodiac. His tail is in his mouth, showing us that the creative force of the universe is self-sustaining. On the great wheel we see the signs of the zodiac, indicating the evolutionary process of which each of us is partaking. On the ground, we see a huge compass, hinting at the magnetic and other cosmic lines of force running through the earth, 'Dragon' or 'ley-lines'.
The Wheel of Fortune Speaks "I am the Wheel, in previous times you assigned your fate and fortune to luck, to chance. Here, you see more accurately how your well-being may be created, namely through aligning yourself harmoniously with cosmic energy, and by evolving. You are free to resist your own evolution, but if you do this you will eventually be flung off this great wheel of life. The zodiac is there to guide you in your progress through this life-time, as a navigator would make use of his compass. But just as a compass cannot tell you what to do, only enable you to achieve your goals through careful voyaging, so all the great divinatory sciences are there to assist you, not command your actions."
"On another level I represent abundance, and suggest how you might go about creating that reality for yourselves. Through a generous spirit will you open up the way for yourselves and others!"
Divinatory Meaning: Abundance, faith, opportunity.
Additional Triggers: The symbol of Jupiter, the generous, the benefactor.

------------------
`Who are you?' said the Caterpillar. This was not an encouraging opening for a conversation. Alice replied, rather shyly, `I--I hardly know, sir, just at present-- at least I know who I WAS when I got up this morning, but I think I must have been changed several times since then.'

Dragons ~ Winged Lions

The Lion Kingdom would like to greet our fellow ascending humans in joy and honor! Our species is not what most think it is, a member of the large "cat" family. Lions are not at all related to large cats such as Tiger, Panther or Leopard. We are a species of our own and always have been, and have been known as Winged Dragons in times past.

Mila had not associated the Lion Kingdom with her beloved Winged Dragons up until recently. She was pleased to understand that there will be again a mammal representing the dragon realms upon earth. Dragons have surrounded her for many years now, and she has commanded them into assistance of her dance of ascension along with the dance within her school. Dragons and the Lion Kingdom have watched and assisted to the best of our ability. We are pleased to say that real human ascension has been launched at long last, and humanity will now fulfill upon its role within the consensus of earth in unity and honor with all other kingdoms in the decades ahead. This is no small feat to have accomplished and we honor her along with each that has so chosen to walk the path of ascension at this time in earth history.

Indeed, the "Chinese Dragon" often resembles an elongated male lion. This is what our species once was, a dragon, and indeed at another time and upon a lighter dimension, we had a longer torso and wings! Our mane also extended down the back, resembling what is often depicted as scales in dragon form today. However we always have been covered in fur beloved. Our wings, much like the winged horse, were large, large enough to allow us to take flight and travel to those areas Terra (earth) was in need of support of our species.

Wings were common on many mammals at another time and in another dimension (12th dimension) in Terra's experience. At that time, there were 18 mammals that held wings, including lion that represented the "dragon realm". Much like the new astrology (see "A New Astrology for a New Millennia" for more information), we held an important role in relation to the energetic dance that sustained Terra's existence. Our role is of the "Peace Bearer".

Alas, our species was reduced in size over time and through the reign of the era of the dark to a mere "Dragonfly" in the physical. In the nonphysical, winged lions remain, and many have come to touch upon our nonphysical species in their inner plane journeying. Now in the recovery of our records and in the coming 18 year cycle, Lion will replace Dragonfly in the role of Peace Bearer and holding space for this particular sign in relation to the new universal astrological influences earth is embracing at this time. We like most species are recovering our records and remembering our true place in this consensus reality known as earth.

dear Silverstone ~

thank you so much for all these illuminating ideas from shamanism...

i have felt this energy, and your description brings more understanding ~

"A power animal is thus an energy-pattern of the abilities it characterizes."

"Shamans believe that a power animal increases physical and emotional energy and mental and spiritual alertness because the connection that is made is with the power-giving frequency of that particular source...It is a pattern of energy that is with you."

i have a great interest in the shaman path of healing...i have hopes of finding a shaman who will assist me with some soul healing. i love what you've shared here, and esp how it relates to the dragon world...and i'd love to hear more about your shaman studies and experiences. please come back!
