just noticed the spam, ma'am. thanks. i do love a liquid guitar...and i wish the music could have taken marley's cancer away too...rumour has it he was infected with something that was planted in his shoe, if you can credit it!

but i think he is probably proof that ganja does not protect against cancer...

one day soon i will surprise everyone by posting some ...pictures!....and charts!! till then, thanks..."we're on our way home"...

sad this morning. just yesterday heard the news that this man was sick! and today he is gone. typical of him really, a true rock n roller who intended to die onstage but was denied that wish...RIP dickie peterson, 63 very young years of age, except his body bit him back for the abuses of his youth...and they were serious. he has been clean and sober for almost 30 years...

the music may not be to your taste here (not their best either), but at about 3:08 they break the song for what i liked best about dickie...he spent many of the last years encouraging people to LIVE in cooperation and caring for each other...

[you can just drag the play circle forward if you want to skip the noise...]

a little light relief for y'all. this is a huge hit with 3 generations in my house, but just to explain, it was made by my sister-in-law...so if it doesn't grab you maybe it is the "knowing" that makes us laugh? though it was shown publicly and much loved.

so...friday is my last day at work...my boss owes me about $3000(+ change) and is required by law to pay up when i leave. however she is not real interested in the law of this "dimension". she is further out there than most LLers including myself and has been shortpaying her staff (3 companies worth) for years. i have a W2 but the shortfall has made it hard for me to find the money to pay a tax-acct this year and i'm hoping i don't have to go to the dept of unemployment and bring down the whole house of cards to get my money.

as it is a couple of private clients are buying packages as i leave here so i will not starve right away, and i have never stooped to collect unemployment yet so i am looking forward to december off to regroup and sailing off into the sunset for the new year..! with a mixture of trepidation and excitement. i have been working with this company for 12 years now, though much of the time i was an independent contractor i helped build it up and this year i have basically been holding the space, keeping a beating heart here till it got LOW ENOUGH for her to spring into action. she thrives on crisis.

if anyone feels the urge to do a reading for me i would be most grateful!!

so, i live in a SMALL TOWN (and the capitals are for the studied small-town attitude there) and my bedroom faces three live-music bars - they are about 200 yds away, behind some buildings but still you can hear the music every night, even in winter when the doors aren't open much - usually i don't pay much attention unless something grabs it (attn); sometimes there is some great music but i'm mostly content to listen passively.

last night i was drifting off when i heard some crazy guitarist really going for it! he was way louder than anything else on the block and some of his stuff sounded very interesting. i got up and walked down to the main street to listen a little better and the closer i got the better it sounded. when i finally reached the bar and the sign outside i discovered it was dick dale!

a lot of you may wonder WTH is dick dale, but he was one of the first ever guitar heroes, played a twangy stratocaster and mostly instrumentals. he is about 70 now. i snuck in the back door but no one was trying to stop me...

what serendipity. here's this guy on a postage stamp of a stage, all in black (he claims johnny cash copied him after they met!), long pony tail and native headband in place, playing on his bass player's ax with drumsticks and making a terrific feedback racket...it only got better from there. he played trumpet, guitar, sang, and pattered like the old hand he is...

i love incidents like this. they not only remind me i have a lot of tread left on me, but they lift me up into a place where i want to get up and play too.

he is a giant in the guitarists' hall of fame, and a really good night out. if you get the chance go see him while he's still working! apparently a cancer survivor along with everything else he does...quite the amazing man...a taurus ox no less!

good keef interview(2006) i hadn't seen before...he just about sums it up when he says "globalization is here...there'll be some good things about it and some bad things, that's life" or words to that effect... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ohEz13V1Vhk
